In the domain of The Ever Shifting Reaches there are many species of Giants from many different planes of existence, however it is rare to find a certain type of giant out of their normal plane, all Giants in this world have two parts to their minds their main consciousness and the instincts, the very building blocks of their nature that rule them, in example in a romantic relationship, their conscious mind calls their partner or partners depending on the species many things along the lines of lover, while the instinctual part of their mind will always refer to their partner as mate.
The instinctual mind is savage, animalistic to be simply put.
Now let's focus on our current subjects, Caster (눈‸눈🌀) and Saber ᕙ(⇀‸↼🍁)ᕗ, both are fire type Giants, while their bodies share the similar base features of fire resistance and high body temperature for a few examples, however we're going to focus on their differences today both physical and instinctual, due to the planes they are from. All of these will be short summaries starting with their natural planes and habitats
Saber is from the current plane he resides in on the island continent of Greleth, his original place of birth(which he no longer resides) is the region of the island that became eternally scorched and burning earth near the northern coast cause by a devastating magic that scared the land long ago that's referred to as Engaruis The Desolated Wastes (pronounced En-Ga-ruse), while this region is inhospitable to most races it is the perfect habit for creatures that have resistance or immunity to fire, this helps avoid constant battles due to this being where they raise their young before they head out on their own to wander.
Caster however is from a much different plane, that of the eternal storm, the fire Giants there are built to withstand the icey winds and unstopping rain, having evolved to the point that the cold water that hits their skin evaporates quickly, the environment is much like that of a swamp with very little solid land and many aquatic creatures, Fire Giants are not the only species of Giants that live on this plane the habit also being optimal for those of aquatic or forest dwelling types, these Giants don't tend to stray far from each others unless they have a very good reason.
Onto the physical differences, The giants from the plane of the eternal storm have an innate skill for magic, to the point their bodies are flooded with mana and have a strong resistance to magic, spells and enchantments that do not have the mana signature of the Giants own magic, making them extremely difficult to kill by magical means. These Giants have an easy time and surprising control of their body temperature for interactions with other races that are not resistant to the giant's natural heat, those who practice a hone their magic more than others tend to fall into a more solitary type of existence due to their social skill suffering from disuse or from being easily annoyed by others.
Onto the physical differences, Giants from the eternal storm tend to have hair colorations along the lines of cooler tones varying from blue's to purples to greens while Giants like Saber have hair colorations of warmer tones which vary from red to orange to yellow sometimes even having more than one color or colors that change as their hair grows out.
For both species their eyes range from yellows to reds and very rarely a radiant blue. Those from the eternal storm are built more towards endurance and speed while the other type are built more towards speed and strength.
Both types have heightened senses due to being predator species, easily able to spot and track those who are far away or those of smaller races. While Giants like Caster have a the ability to control their temperature those like Saber do not, always adjusting to be much higher than where they currently reside. Others being a difference in immunities and resistances, while both have immunities to fire only Saber has a weakness to ice while Caster has just as much weakness to cold as anyone else from a stormy climate.
Moving on to instinctual differences, While both share the instinct of sometimes taking multiple mates, some of these differences are the most obvious.
Giants from the plane of the eternal storm gain great pleasure from eating smaller races due the sensitive nerves in their stomachs and digestive systems, they can easily tell the condition their prey is in, they will always have an urge to eat smaller beings because of this incessant craving to feel living prey struggling inside them, however it is possible for them to imprint on a smaller creature, a prey that they'll repeatedly 'play' with.
Sometimes this is malicious, other times simple due to taste, both which may eventually lose their value and end up becoming food anyway, there is however the more rare and very permanent greed based implantation a desire to claim, as well as show dominance and interest in a certain prey, more often than not for reasons of attraction to a potential mate than platonic affection.
It is quite well know (for the residents of the eternal storm) and not entirely uncommon for these Fire Giants to sometimes court those of certain Prey species that catch their interest or they are unable to keep from imprinting on, they become territorial of them with a desire to mark them with their scent and magic to warm off those that may try to hunt said Prey, these Giants have their scent glands in their mouths, stomachs, and their shoulders. If these Giants already have one mate however they are willing to share said Prey they're courting providing their mate does nothing to harm said Prey in anyway.
They will become hostile to their mate if they feel that their mates actions have ruined any type of progress the Giant has made to gaining the Prey's affection and trust or have ignored their Prey's physical, emotional or mental needs. Their more base instincts taking hold while still aware of their Prey's needs, their memories unaffected by said instincts unlike some other types of Giants who go into a semi-berserk state and can only recognize the scents of those they've mated with, due to their conscious minds and short term memories shutting down leaving the feral mind alone. Giants from the eternal storm luckily do not function this way so they're less likely to have accidents involving new friends or loved ones.
But at the point of damage to the Prey that's being courted the fire Giants from the eternal storm will make an effort to keep their prey under their watch and away from their mate becoming extremely protective. If they have gotten to the point where their Prey willing lets the Giant swallow them the Giant won't hesitate to do so feeling their Prey would be much safer inside them than out near whatever caused them harm or distress, if not than they will take their Prey to a more solitary place they're able to fortify and hold them close trying to ease their distress while they comfort them in some way.
Eventually getting physical with their mate to make a point that they're angry with them after which they will remain hostile for quite a while as long as their Prey remain scared and distressed by the presence of the Giants mate leaving the courting Giant stuck on a very thin, wild and unbalanced line dividing their conscious mind and instinctual mind rather than their usual much tamer mental division.
While these Giants court a prey species the steps they take are slow as they don't want to startle their imprinted Prey into running off so despite their rather sadistic urge to have live squirming Prey inside them they hold back until they feel they have enough of their Prey's trust to attempt to swallow them, the first part in the courting process of this species is providing Prey with some form of permanent protection from the harm the Giant could accidentally cause them through the nature of their body or environmental dangers around them.
They are unusually gentle for their species toward these certain Prey, simply because they feel due to their Prey's size that Prey could easily be harmed if they're not careful. The other instincts of these Giants include the some of usual ones you may find in any predatory animals. This is the end of the short summary of the fire Giants from the eternal storm.
Now onto the Fire Giants from Engaruis in the realm of The Giant's Vale (named this due to having the most giant species of both the beast and humanoid variety)
The Fire Giants that reside here, are mostly ruled by their rather vicious instincts that overtake them after a massive amount of pain inflicted to their body, these instincts cause them to go after any who intrude on their territory, which they stake their claim on with the scents glands that are on their sides and inner parts of their arms, these Giants Also have scent glands in their mouth but unlike those from the eternal storm have none in their stomachs and lack the same level of sensitivity in their nerves leading to stuff themselves with Prey just to feel them squirming.
If a Prey is marked by their territory scent when the Giant enters their semi-berserk state (as mentioned when speaking of the eternal storm Fire Giants) due to the violent, territorial and often borderline sadistic nature of the feral part of their minds, they will not consider the Prey as a loved one, friend, or potential mate candidate they're courting, the exception being those scented Prey that are already mated to them, but as an item they(and any other giant they're mated to) own, not paying attention to how the Prey reacts to this which can often lead to problems between them when the Giant finally snaps out of it.
While they have a crop they could keep them in while this state, they don't, they will not devour them in this state either (usually having eaten any tiny attacker or intruders) however if said Prey has a foreign scent of them they will try to remove it with the oral scent glands on their tongues, if unsuccessful they take their scented Prey into their mouth fully and try to remove the scent more thoroughly, checking after a while to make sure the foreign scent is completely removed, from there how they treat their Prey can go two ways.
the Giant could decide to put them down if the Prey remains calm, showing no signs of fear, if the Prey does show any fear however, the more sadistic and uncaring part of the nature in their semi-berserk state takes hold and they will terrorize their Prey more by slurping them into their mouth again continuing to taste them and torment them by swallowing but never actually eating them.
Often keeping them unwillingly captive for hours till ordered to hand them over to their mate who usually also has claim on said Prey in order to share their rather sadistic form of fun, these Giants have a craving for the hunt and battle, often going out to take down ferrous beasts that are sometimes much larger than them and dragging them back as a show of strength, an ability to provide and a show to prove that they can easily provide for others.
Fire Giants in general can typically have two or three mates at a time and their instinctual, feral and conscious minds can conflict with each other and their personalities can seem to change when one overtakes the others for a short while, the Fire Giants of The Giant's Vale can sometimes have only a extremely vague sense of what they're done in their semi-berserk state when over taken by their feral mind. Opposed to The Eternal Storm Fire Giants who do not have this problem with their memories due to their highly magical nature which helps them excel in anything dealing with the mystic arts.
No type of Giant has any problem mating with those of other genders, and each species having many differences and sometimes share similarities with the others.
This concludes the short summary on two species of Fire Giants in the many realms and planes of existence in the domain of The Ever Shifting Reaches
