When Joe was still an infant, Black would try and amuse his son with displays of magic. The 'puffing of the thumb' is just for show- that's not actually what he's using to blow himself up like that!

Wind magic is one of the more difficult magic types to control. It's an element that you can't see, so you must focus if you want to use it properly. Most use it to blow things backwards, though if you mess up, you might blow something up instead. It's quite the finicky ability.

Black loves all three of his sons equally- though he's obviously been with Joe the longest. They have a sort of 'special connection' that's difficult to describe. (In the above picture, Black looks seemingly the same as he does now... It seems like there is a magic that slows down aging, or at least makes it appear as though you're younger than you seem. In the modern-day, Black is well over 50, though he's maintained his signature look since his late 20's! What dedication.)
