When a new shaman comes of age the current senior shaman will pass the torch to her successor. The processes of these rituals can vary wildly between tribes, often including unique eccentricates depending on the location and the nature of their guardian deity. Yet regardless of the tribe, the end result is the same: the willing sacrifice of the senior shaman to their deity. With her duty in life complete she will be digested and returned to the cycle of life, and by their beliefs: to be born anew.

Ya sacrifice is a regular deal in the setting, basically they can have permanent settlement because of it. In a nutshell : Step one keep strong predator fed and happy to live near your tribe, Step two: said predator keeps everything else away from the immediate area out of fear keeping overall loses down and creating a safe haven. Step 3: keep the food coming through repopulation or captured slaves from trade / raids. Which turns into a whole religion around your tribe deity and a cycle of life. So death is kinda referred to as "returning to the cycle" for that reason and it's quite common. Also they breed like rabbits so in a way without all the predation when they forage for food they would kinda overpopulate :V

Think of it as a sub species that is pretty much female with the one in ten herm and quicker gestation / higher average height. And no problem different strokes wanted to keep with the theme of all female jungle girls and herms as a rare was the work around. Most the time it's going to be pure women in the vore.
