When they found him on the road outside of town, his clothes were torn to shreds and there were wounds on his body consistent with that of an animal attack; and when he finally awoke some days later, he could not recall the details of the incident. Maybe it was just a bear attack. And though he was a stranger, the village ealdorman cared for him, at least until he recovered enough to travel once again...
But in a few weeks' time, his belly had bloated as if he were pregnant. Chickens and other small animals had also gone missing in the night. Suspicion began to fall upon this stranger, but he was just as confused as the rest of them! He continued to grow at a rapid rate, sometimes swelling overnight, and began to feel impossible stirrings in his womb... and more pressingly, a growing appetite for meat. Always more meat. He kept these discoveries to himself, lest they throw him back into the wilderness or worse. But the more he tried to repress his cravings, the stronger they became, until he started to regard the ealdorman - the sweet man who had nursed him back to health - with salacious hunger.
Until one night, where the demands of his gravid body became impossible to ignore any longer, and he crawled into the ealdorman's bed in a hormonal haze, allowing the man to explore his increasingly sensitive and curvaceous body. And once everything was said and done, after a passionate tryst, instincts took over and he indulged himself at last...
He awoke just a few hours later, early in the morning before anyone else had risen, finding himself alone in the ealdorman's bed... and his belly more colossal than ever. Naturally he panicked, and was confused, but came to realize that the terrible hunger that had been gnawing at him had finally abated. And it didn't take a genius to postulate where the ealdorman had gone, even though his struggles had long since ceased. It was terrible, it should have felt terrible... but it felt like a relief instead, this fulfillment of a deep need. Even so, it was clear that he could not stay; he had to leave before anyone else saw him, saw this thing protruding from his middle. So with all the grace available to him in this enlarged state, he gathered clothes and rations and tools into a bag, whatever he would need on the road, and slinked out of the house and into the misty woods, belly bouncing with every step. It was a despicably heavy thing to haul, but not insurmountable with the energy the ealdorman was giving him. He had to flee, not just for his own safety, but the precious cargo sequestered inside him, still growing... and still hungry~
