I accidently saved a picture I was drawing in the wrong file and while I was looking for it I found this and thought I would share it for what its worth: the last page I finished of Verdant Pest Part 2 before I gave up on it.
Don’t bother favouriting/bookmarking/liking it. It’s cancelled.
I was way over my head with the project and I was just getting angry at myself and it that it just wasn’t worth the effort anymore.
A brief summary what would have followed after this page would be the following.
The ranger would run over and stick his whole arm into the Viridem's gular folds just as the girl is swallowed.
He then pries its jaws wide open and look inside to see her feet in the back of its throat and then he would look up to the see the bulge travel up into the tree to be obscured amongst the leaves.
He tells the Viridem to spit her out but it spits in his face. After he rubs the spit off his face he notices the scar on the Viridem’s lip as a specific individual he has some history with. The one who Mabel (his prized machete) has “kissed” in the past. It also seems to recognise him in some way.
He swings at the creature with his machete but the Viridem evades all his strikes. He pretends to give up and walks away. He then runs at full speed past the Viridem and leaps off the stones at the tree’s base to get airborne. He holds his machete in a downwards angle with both hands and thrusts it into the head of the Viridem. Pinning it into the ground with force. Queue some panels of the Viridem coils falling onto ground with bulge falling last. The girl inside is cushioned thanks to be being inside the Viridem.
Internal shot of the girl as she wonders what has happened. A thin line on light appears before her face and extends downwards barely illuminating her fleshy confines. She is greeted by the face of the Ranger who has cut her free with a knife (which also named with a girl's name).
He helps her out of the Viridem’s body and explains what it is. She is flustered at what has happened while he is nonchalant about it. She turns around and sees the Viridem's body has vanished.
The girl is distressed as she thought it was dead. The Ranger causally explains if most of the Viridem's nervous system remains intact they can heal and survive from most wounds and would most likely survive the “impromptu field surgery”. The only real way to maybe kill them is to burn or freeze them. She pleads with the Ranger that they start moving and leave the area now.
Its sunset.
They are walking back to the visitor/ranger station. The girl is disgusted by her smell. A wet slimy purple beanie lands on the ranger face. (He makes a remark on how many articles of clothing have landed on his head the past few days and how strange that is.)
They look up. See another Viridem with a human shaped bulge in its mid-section. Queue a cartoony panel of him leaping into action with blade drawn sort looking like Final Fantasy 4-6 party characters.
It turns out this was the Viridem that swallowed the girl in the part 1 comic and they freed her as well. As they walk back their combined smell from their shared common experiences inside the Viridems even makes the Ranger pinch his nose closed. They are promised showers and change of clothes when they return to the visitor stations.
The student who Ranger has escorted during this journey asks the other girl how it happened to her and how long she was in the Viridem? As they talk the student recognises the other girl as a blogger who she enjoys and follows online.
