Current Character Qualities
I didn't mention it before, but the dice roll for the check to persuade the bouncer to let Earth through was a Natural 20. I figured that deserved some acknowledgment in the options available to you all now.
Just to let you all know, this is the point where the vorishness in the story will start ramping up some more, after the implications in previous chapters. That also means that the likelihood of Earth surviving your decisions is also decreasing. How much will he risk for the sake of informing the Equestrian public? Will he even survive to see his name in print?

2 is the way to go, it was hinted Vinyl might know some more stuff so why not follow that lead.

I would say option 2. No sense in not taking advantage of a better oppourtunity for more information, especially if that chance was earned.
