Weeks have passed since Toga stuffed the Class 1A girl's into her tight gut. They make one last push for freedom before an unexpected turn of events.

Why is everyone so obsessed with this sociopath?
Posted by Plume7 2 years ago Report
Design? Fanservice? Missed potential for a redemption arc?
The latter for me.

People likes crazy girls. There's something about them that scares yet arouses people.

Ugh, gor some reason, that makes a sad amount of sense to me. Still, seeing her so goddamn much on this site is SUPER annoying.

Because shes a sociopath.

I don't think there can be a redemption arc for someone like her
Posted by Plume7 2 years ago Report
Oh, there totes could've been. But the writer decided pretty much last minute he wanted an Akame ga Kill style finale where no one has halfway decent intentions.
Barring Hawks.

Can't agree at all, personally - not for either for the heroes of the villains, barring maybe a few exceptions (I mean even Mineta nutted up to be a hero more for his friend's sake).
And in Toga's spicific case, I gotta agree with Rutmen personally - dunno if I really see how she could have been redeemed when she never really showed anything like remorse or regret for her actions; she's got some tragedy to her life, sure, but that's not really the same as being capable of redemption.
Plus, as an aside, I'd argue a lot of the appeal for her in vore might actually come from her being an entertaining villain, since it kinda fits in almost too well with her canon personality compared to others. XD

Sometimes, redemption can come in the form of liking someone enough to want to change yourself for their sake, and between her established crush on Izuku and all the yuri baiting with Ochako and Tsuyu, it really looked like that wad gonna happen.
Then again, it also constantly looks like Ochako's gonna die whenever she's upset or in a fight, and that hasn't happened yet either, so maybe I should just stop relying on instincts and watch someone random like Spinner or Iida bite it next.

That's kinda my point, though; Toga never showed any such inclinations for changing herself for anyone else's sake - if anything she was the opposite of wanting the world around her to change. her infatuation with Deku and Ochako and Tsuyu was entirely based on how cute she found them - she never once showed any empathy to or even acknowledgement of their actual beliefs or the like. IMHO, the only person she had anything even kinda close to that was Twice, who was another villain - and his sense of loyalty to his friends in the league hard locked his own path too. so I can't personally agree with the belief that it ever looked like Toga was gonna have redemption.
As an aside, I dunno if I see either Spinner or Iida biting it - a bit spoiler-y, this, but the former had a pretty big role changing the whole path of the final battle, and I haven't really seen Iida as random between Stain or his role in helping bring Deku back from vigilantism or currently being the only one besides Shoto & Burnin who actually seemed to make it outta Dabi's recent rampage... but i digress; as it stands, i might just not flat-out not have the same impressions or instincts.
Anyway, my point's that I don't really think redemption was ever something in the cards for Toga since affection and infatuation don't equate to a shift in moral compass - it just means that person's still got feelings, even if warped. something that, IMHO, is half of why Toga makes such a good pred in vore - between the possessiveness, the remorselessness and her seeming infatuation with the idea of having people she likes be part of herself, she's arguably tailor-made for vore (both fatal and non-fatal) without really having to do much alteration to her portrayal or character, if any ^_^

It might just be because I resonate with Toga's backstory, minus the murder part, but Imma still fic her into redemption anyway. That face is too cute to put behind bars besides.
I don't actually see Spinner or Iida dying, it's why I said "random". The point was that Ochako has probably the highest amount of death flags I've ever seen from a fictional character, and while I do love her as a character and as a protagonist, it baffles me that she lasted longer than the first episode, much less is still kicking in the final battle.
Posted by MrMetroid 2 years ago Report
But then that's not really the story that did anything wrong, it feels like; just that you personally wanted it ^_^;
Not sure I get the "death flags" part either, TBH - though that's because i usually don't assume anything is automatically telegraphing anything for sure.
but back to Toga, i honestly do feel like her popularity's more to do with her personality and behavior being just a good fit for a pred in general, and the fact she feels like someone who honestly would do something like this if she could.^_^

Oh I certainly agree that Toga is a top tier pred, redemption or nah. Perhaps tied with Tsuyu for me.

Not the worst place to be trapped for the rest of your life. Or rather, Toga's life. Would love to check in on them in about a year or so.

why does the label say non-fatal?

Look at the dialogue a little closer
Posted by MrMetroid 2 years ago Report
I'm not entirely sure, but I think the implication's that she either absorbed them or compressed them, possibly further into her digestive tract. My guess would be the latter since there's a "hammerspace" tag on the vid instead of an "absorption" one.
