Heavily inspired by mangoicy and gillpanda's amazing work on chunky bears. This was meant to be a comic I started back in 2020, but couldn't finish, and looks unlikely I ever will.

Thousands of years ago there was a powerful gigantic primordial Kaiju-type Yōkai. A force of nature. Her name was Mizuki, an Onikuma of incredible strength. None could stand against her alone. She devoured all humans across Japan to fill her bottomless belly, before hibernating for a hundred years. Mizuki rejected any notion she was an evil being, seeing her work as a means of population control that maintained a natural balance. The people couldn't thrive under her. Eventually, the gods answered mortals prayers in sealing her away in a clay figure, but the battle was costly - Japan was broken up into a chain of islands, and the gods were destroyed.
Ownership of her sculpture passed down from shrine to shrine, until knowledge of the bear goddess faded into legend, then myth. Fast forward to modern times, where a Minoru Mitsu of Sappore City in Hokkaido, Japan finds and purchases the figure from an antiques shop. The sealed Onikuma could only watch with disgust, as humans flourished, building ugly grey cities over her former forest paradise. But Mizuki-Sama was a very clever Yōkai. She knew only love could break her seal. And once freed, nothing could ever imprison her ever again.
She sought to be a sincere companion for Minoru, listened to his every word, and became a friend and counsel for him. Her influence over him grew, as his colleagues at work and relatives neglected him. The man reciprocated her feelings, as she was always faithfully there for him. Mizuki was delighted, as she felt the gods seal after all these long years starting to crack. All that was left was to smash her clay figure on the floor, with a promise - she would ensure he'd never be alone again.
Released and finally free to consume once more, the gigantic Onikuma emerged back into the world, towering over the skyscrapers of Japan. Minoru began to have second-thoughts. But she was true to her word - only love could break that infernal seal. And she did love him, and she would ensure he, and he alone, would be spared. The giant bear Yōkai swallowed him, absorbing both body and soul, so they'd always be together...
At last, the true ancient ruler of Japan could resume her eagerly awaiting eating binge on the rest of humanity.

Well if humanity has to go extinct at least it is by the stomach of a sexy bear goddess

Civilization will go extinct, but her character is not evil, and she intends to keep a few thousand humans alive.
Her belly's gonna be massive after inhaling billions of souls in one-go though... she can't believe how irresponsible the gods were in letting human population numbers get out of control.
