Comics Situation
The Highwayman came to his senses somewhere unknown, and when he was exposed to the light of a machine, he changed his appearance and later changed his gender, and another device brought a strange man from somewhere and fed him to a Highwayman who turned into a woman.

The strange man here is an Flagellant, one of the DLC heroes of the Darkest Dungeon.
