Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
The toad finally appears! Thanks to an assist from Miram, we were able to get Lenora to agree to the plan of using live bait to lure it in.
What should our strategy be now that we're facing off with it? Remember that Lenora is very much in danger of getting swallowed with the plan we opted for, and from what we know there's a good chance the toad will try to flee when faced with fire, so it would be good to put some thought into how to handle those situations.
Also I realized it wasn't necessarily clear so to clarify: Adrea is currently hiding in some bushes off to the right of where Lenora is, slightly behind the toad's current position.
You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418
Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

First thing first, Ice Wall behind the toad to try and cut off the escape path. No idea on how high the creature can bounce, but we need to make sure that it doesn't flee at the first sign of trouble. Then we'll Firebolt it and move from our current hiding spot to another one, to prevent the Toad from finding us. Either that, or set more Ice walls to make sure that the toad can't escape before doing some fire damage with Fire bolt. Having more walls blocking the toad's escape will be good. We should also also drink both our mana potion, and our fire boosting potion when we'r going in for the kill, mainly to ensure that we'll kill it in a few shots, and to make sure that we don't run out of mana.

Since we know the toad is likely afraid of fire, I think we start with ice based spells initially. I like the ice wall to try to cut off the escape path. Leading with frostbolt, with the option to use fire based spells if things start looking bad.

Yup! Think an ice wall to keep it from sliding back the way it came is a great idea.

Also, think we should hold off immediatly attacking the toad. Just in case in decides to come after us, with Lenora unable to reach on her tether.
We can sling an icebolt once she has its attention

Be ready to dispel icewall immediately if it manages to cirumvent it. Try to pin it down with firebolt, coordinating with Lenora, and if it manages to get cornered, unload on its face with a flamejet. Try to avoid damaging it in a way that would harm it's potential occupant. If it seems as if its like to run away, try casting enrage on it.The extra damage it will inflict might sting, but I'm willing to assume that it would make the toad wish to fight rather than flee.

I agree that we should do our best to cut off its potential escape routes with ice wall to start with, but I'm doubtful that it wouldn't just be able to jump over them. While fire is likely to cause it to want to flee, it's also far more vulnerable to it and so I think we should be using it from the start. We don't want to be in a situation where we've used all our mana on frost spells without dealing serious damage, and are unable to follow up with fire.
While it's not ideal for Lenora to actually get swallowed, if she is it would force the the toad to stick around near the tree while we pelt it with fire from a distance in relative safety. At that point it can only spit Lenora out and flee or go for us, or stand there and just take the damage. So while we should try to avoid it, if Lenora is swallowed we should take advantage of it.
Obviously we should keep our distance at all costs and if it starts to focus on trying to swallow us, put all our effort into avoiding it. The worst case scenario here is that we pull all of its' attention away from Lenora onto us, then it swallows us and hops away. For that reason we should try not to deal too much damage to it too quickly, and work with Lenora so that it stays focused on her.
If needed, we shouldn't hesitate to use the Ichor of Rava for extra damage, and if it looks like the creature is trying to flee I agree with ProtocolARC that we should enrage it in order to try and keep it in the fight.

Maybe if we used ice wall in a bit more of a domed net shape the toad would be trapped more effectively. It might also be more afraid to break the structure and cause a collapse on itself. Blind could also be useful as a second step to make sure it doesn't know where to escape to or where its attackers are. We should also move to fire spells last to keep it from bucking and try not to harm its prey as we fight it.
