The story of how Francis came to be starts way before, all the way to the Fourth Holy Grail war, where due to different circumstances, Kayneth dies instead of being incapacitated alongside Lancer also being defeated, meaning that without both of them Sola-Ui is free to go back home to England.

...In which she's promptly shamed and looked down upon for "having let the estimated Professor Kayneth die", her family very much still loves her and let's her live on their state, but her reputation is down on the drain and no esteemed family wants to marry her, which she's grateful for but it still reflects badly in her family's reputation.

One night, out in a bar in the hopes alcohol can give her something to pass the time and forget about her situation for a while, she meets up with this giant of a man, skin dark, white leather jacket on a black turtleneck, handsome face with a afro and green eyes, a few discussions here and there and she's hooked on him on ways more than just physical, one thing leads to another and she's inside his temporary home, spreading her legs open and promptly getting knocked up by him, even if she was on a safe day.

When asked about the name of the father of her future children, he simply called himself Apollo D'Amour, and from there on, he would take care of her.

While they weren't officially married as Apollo's job, whatever it was, always kept him away for weeks or even months at a time, yet the first thing he always did was going to Sola-Ui first and pampering her in every way she wanted. Soon she find out she was pregnant with a incredible amount of offspring, 12 to be exact, and as her pregnancy progressed, all the cravings and lazing around she did resulted in her weight tripling by the time she gave birth.

And amongst those 12 first children, Francis was one of them.

Initially, Sola-Ui did what she could to keep them out of Magus society, not wanting what happened to her also happen to her kids, yet she also educated them about it, teaching some magic so they could defend themselves.

It was during these training sessions that her family discovered something incredible: her children can actually perform magic without the need of a crest, figuring out they inherited that from Apollo, the family actually attempts pressuring Sola-Ui into introducing them into magus society, after all, having a family who can cast magic without the need of crests would make them absolutely sought after and essentially the most powerful ones around.

But Sola-Ui actually doubles down on keeping her children out of that mess, preferring them to forge their own paths instead of being married off for political reasons to serve as breeding bulls and Broodmothers, but she at least acquiesces on teaching them all the magic her family has accumulated so they can carry out the legacy at least and perform their own research on it.

The exception seems to be Francis who after a while of learning about what his family has to offer, decides to go against his mother's wishes and wants to join up with Magus society. Despite being pregnant with another brood from his father, Sola-Ui basically begs him not to go and attempts every trick in the book to keep him in the state, but Francis doesn't budge and she very reluctantly, agrees to let him go.

At first, Francis is not taken very seriously by the elites of the Clock Tower, after all, who would waste time with a bastard son of a seemingly regular human and a disgraced magus who couldn't look out for her husband?

But then, Francis start showing off what he can do when not limited by a crest but still having a source of energy to draw upon from thanks to his father, he starts learning every spell he can get his hands on, he has the intelligence to keep up with the professors and every magic duel he enters he can just wear down the opponent and win by attrition.

His reputation does a full 180° and suddenly he's the most desired Magus around, stuff like political factions offering him favours, to esteemed magus wanting to be his mentors and many, many offerings for marriage from ambitious houses who want heirs who won't need a crest to perform basically every magic placed in front of them.

Yet, Francis is content with one thing only: learning about magic, he essentially becomes a bounty hunter who takes jobs and is rewarded in knowledge and magical items as he already has plenty money. It gets to the point he's traveling worldwide for jobs, using a cover up as a archeologist for the masses to cover up his discoveries, he does make some legitimate findings, enough to open up his own museum which of course he uses the increased game and connection for MORE knowledge.

Here is where his story diverges: Because depending on the Timeline, he continues on with his knowledge hunt or he sees the pamphlet for Chaldea and joins up with them, in the process becoming the Last Master of Humanity and the protagonist of the Grand Fattening Series.

For his powers, he has an incredibly array of magic spells that thanks to the power inherited from his father, he doesn't need a crest to perform them alongside regeneration stuff he also inherited from his father, he could try dwelling deeper into what exactly has his dad passed down on him, but he has (correctly) guessed it's corrupting to the human mind and soul due to it's sheer might, so he only truly taps on that forbidden power on emergencies, having it more as a "passive" thing.
