"My name's Sohlushil." The Yuan-Ti pureblood answered, going back to her scheming once more. She couldn't just let the mermaid go, not with what she had seen.
As Sohlushil pondered her seemingly hopeless situation, however, she felt the smallest of vibrations coming from within her. As she laid a hand atop her midriff, an idea started to shape itself in her mind.
So, she raised her chin in the air and closed her eyes, silently muttering a prayer to Sseth. Mayhaps he could help her with what she intended to do next. "And I... I want you to feed yourself to me."
This particular story is one of my RP logs, which I converted into a story format with permission of those involved.
Word count comes out to just over 6.5k.
Sohlushil was played by me, and you can find her profile here: https://rp.aryion.com/profile/Sohlushil

Why did the yaut ti need to kill the mermaid?
Posted by LordWinterStark 2 years ago Report
She's basically a spy, pretending to be a human adventurer. And she had no way of knowing the mermaid wouldn't tell others about it.

Is this a setting where mermaids generally tell people, and people often believe mermaids? Thanks for the reply.

Not the mermaid in particular. The Yuan-Ti would have done that to anyone who saw her. Or otherwise she'd have to abandon her position and start elsewhere.

Now I am picturing someone who the Yaun-Ti has a crush on finding out and the Yaun-ti eating them and than changing there minds in the middle of it for maximum awkwardness.

That wouldn't quite work - Yuan-Ti do not experience most human feelings. They can pretend they do, when there's a reason for doing so, but otherwise... If a person they're having a relationship with finds out about their real identity, they'd end up the same way the mermaid did.

Where would I look to find more about that? I did find this but it left me more confused than anything.

This channel has a series comprised of three videos compiling information about Yuan-Ti.
The Yuan-Ti Pureblood (the only playable version) can be read about in the guidebook Volo's Guide to Monsters.
Those were mostly my sources. But take into consideration that this is my character — which means I chose to play her that way. It isn't, like, a requirement or something of the like. It just made sense for me and felt like it was interesting, so I did it.
Wanna play a Yuan-Ti and have them fall in love? Go for it. I actually did that — this character fell in love, but was betrayed, which led to her becoming more ruthless. But yeah. Am mostly rambling at this point.
