When a new trainer picks a Charmander for their starter, they need to be weary when evolving to a Charizard. It has been documented that charizards will shun their trainers if they are deemed too weak unless proven wrong. This can be as simple as ignoring orders to as fatal as devouring said trainer like an oran berry.
