DISCLAIMER: This is a sequel to my work "The Sleeping Serpent". While you could read this story first, it will make more sense to read the other work before this one.
This is a continuation of Kiea and Eliza's story, taking place approximately one year after the last story, or rather, a few months after the end of the epiloge, but a year after Eliza declared herself free from her political enemies. Kiea and Eliza run a small trading store in the town of Eidlen (eyed-lenn, if you want the pronunciation). The townsfolk generally accept their presence, but Kiea is still something of an oddity seen with a mix of caution and fear. This bothers her more than she expects, but she's pushing through it because she is happy to live with Eliza.
So, remember how I said I was going to work on some one-offs and other works before I got into doing this story? Yeah, oops, this chapter practically fell onto the page over the past couple of days, and I couldn't get anything else to come out of my head. Sorry about that. I'll try to balance this early start with some other works, because I'll be honest, I dont have any more backlog of pre-prepared chapters or works. You are now getting stuff pretty much as I write it out, even if the general plot is jotted down for me to follow.
As always, feedback, comments, tag suggestions are welcome. Please bear with some of the less-than-stellar writing this time around, I had trouble getting the words exactly right. just some general notes or ideas I guess I want to clarify.
-the two house invaders are of a species similar to Kiea called the High Serpents. They are more snake like, with scales covering their whole bodies and the heads of snakes, but torsos shaped like that of humanoids. so they have arms and hands, but also tails. Kiea's race, what they call "rakshi" are a hybrid race between High Serpents and humans, or they were once upon a time. Kiea's species is considered to be inferior or impure, and are treated pretty poorly by High Serpents. More information about High Serpent society appears later in this story, so I won't go too deep into it. But needless to say, the fact that Kiea stood up to two was a deep insult to them.
