SPARTAN-II Stella-284 was unusually large and strong, even for a Spartan. This came with a corresponding increase in appetite that, combined with her amorality and disdain for unaugmented humans, made ONI nervous.

As such, during a mission to a desolate Covenant-controlled planet, Stella was left behind by her team. Surviving by preying upon the Covenant forces, she was eventually found by a brute pack loyal to the Banished. After she defeated the pack's second-in-command in hand to hand combat, she was adopted into the pack and accepted as a member of the Banished. Astraea, as she now calls herself, has proven to be as vicious as any brute, and equally eager to prey upon humanity and unlucky subordinates alike. Her grudge against the UNSC has made her especially willing to gulp down any of their forces that she can find.
