It had taken the better part of the day for Lily to fully grasp how to literally walk on her own two feet, even with the aid of the simple, yet elegant staff generously provided by Sonata, but eventually she was able to get the process of walking down. It had been an exhausting experience, walking throughout the expansive halls Nillyna's house as she got accustomed to her new limbs, using the staff for support whenever she lost her balance or focus, and, when even that wasn't enough to stop her stumbling completely, being caught in Nillyna's arm's, who never once left her side throughout the whole process.
But the end results were worth it. Lily could walk now, and by the end of it could do so without the aid of the rose staff or a hand on Nillyna's shoulder. Now Nillyna was currently educating her on one activity having legs was instrumental for. With the waning afternoon there really wasn't any time for Nillyna to contemplate further on Sonata and Grayscale's plight, so had decided to dedicate to spend the rest of the day introducing Lily to new kinds of things her mobility made possible now. Namely bedroom activities. That morning Lily had been introduced to the comforts of furniture for the first time and it had been an experience she had no comparison for, not even her own sanctuary within her colossal plant body outside. The four poster bed she was laying on was putting even that to shame. So soft, like a solidified cloud, the sheets so smooth.
The experience was made even better by the body of Nillyna laying across from her…interlocked with her own.
Nillyna and Lily were currently both laying on one of her extravagant beds, Nillyna's legs currently entwined with Lily', scissoring, both their vulva's meeting and separating with subtle wet slaps and pops.
"Ah! Ah! AAAAh!" Lily moaned light, partly laying on her right side, propping herself with her arms on the mattress so as to not be jostled too much by her and Nillyna's thrusts. Unbridled pleasure coursed through her being, her legs interlocking with Nillyna's tighter with each thrust. Just this morning she could barely make two steps without falling, now her legs seemed to know what position to be in to perfectly interlock with Nillyna's almost of their own volition.
And that suited both of them just fine.
Nillyna almost more than Lily.
While having legs all her life, Lily seemed to be more experienced in what to do with her vulva to provide the utmost pleasure to a female intimate partner then her. Not surprising. Nillyna had been sexually drawn to females for as long as she could remember but had never had anything genuine experience until meeting Lily. And there was no telling how many people Lily had coitus with, especially with how Shadow would lure people to her. Nillyna had always been fascinated with the scissoring position ever since discovering her sexuality and had always wanted to try it, if ever given the opportunity.
And apparently she had.
Now that her love had legs of her ownbNillyna was finally getting to experience what it felt like to have her legs intertwined with another girl's, her sex meeting another in intimate thrusts that grew in intensity and strength as both their arousals peaked, both so wet now each time their vulva's met resulted in a noticeable splash of intimate liquid that scattered over the sheets beneath them, as well as running up and down their thighs like mini waterfalls trailing down the slopes of green and white mountains that were Lily and Nillyna's thighs.
"Oh! Oh! Oooh!" Moaned Nillyna involuntarily, propping herself up on all four of her arms so as to not pin her wings (transmuted back to normal so she may be naked for her lover) wouldn't be squished beneath her, her lower portions practically vibrated with her and Lily's movements, her nippless breasts jiggling in sync. "Ah! Lily…love I…I think I…AHHH!...I think I'm close!"
Despite the chaotic sensations bombarding her senses Lily was able to tilt her head forward enough to look in Nillyna's direction. "Me too, Nilly! I'm close to!"
Nillyna and Lily managed to dredge up enough fortitude to prop up their upper bodies, their motions swift despite the building fatigue, their torsos colliding with each other, shifting their position from scissoring to tripping. Their breasts pressed together almost to the point of going completely flat, the sensation forcing out another moan from both of them as they wrapped their arms around each other. Through all of this their hips continued to rock rigorously, the bed beneath them creaking like a withered old tree in an intense wind. Lastly, their mouths clamped together tightly, their tongues instantly engaging in an intimate, swirling dance.
As said before it was undeniable that Lily was more experienced at intimacy than Nillyna, but if there was one thing that the moth-girl had over her leafy love it was that long, dexterous tongue. Both Lily and Nillyna thanked evolution for bestowing such an appendage on Lepidopteran's as Nillyna used hers to explore Lily's mouth to almost six times the degree Lily's average young was capable of, sampling her nectar flavored saliva with each movement. The precipice to orgasm had been passed long before this shift in position, so the tongue play proved to be the last push either of them needed to send them both over the edge.
Lily and Nillyna's passionate moans escalated to blissful screams that reverberated within each other's mouths, neither of them willing to break the connection yet, too engrossed in the dance of tongues to want to separate. Their thighs became drenched as their simultaneous orgasms, resulting in a sizable swell of intimate nectar coming forth from their vulva's, mixing together and doubling each other in mass. The last burst of energy that had been afforded to Nillyna and Lily and allowed them to sit up and lock lips dissipated when the final drops of fluid dripped down their thighs, both overcome by a combination of exhaustion and afterglow.
They limply fell backwards onto their backs, their legs releasing their grip and falling away from each other, leaving them both laying limply on the bed, their spend pooling around and under them. But that didn't matter at the moment to either of them. All that did matter was the intense pleasure and relief coursing through their beings as they struggled to catch their breath. For what could have been hours the only sound in the room was their ragged breathing, then came the sound of ruffling sheets as Nillyna shifted, first to regain enough stamina to move.
Lily, who had been the one lying properly with the head of the bed while Nillyna lay opposite, looked up as Nillyna, crawling on all… six, settled next to her on her right side. She laid down, rolled onto her back, then interlocked her fingers with Lily's. Both gave each other one more affectionate smile before looking up at the ceiling, both entirely focused on steadying their rigorous panting and rapid heartbeat, as well as still basking in the afterglow.
Steadily the light of dusk filtering in through the rooms' massive windows shifted to full night, the twin moons of Aquasa slowly rising to take their place in the sky. It was for this reason Nillyna had decided to conclude Lily's walking lesson here. Nillyna loved watching her world's moons, their tranquil beauty having no equal in her opinion. She turned her head from the ceiling to the window to observe their ascension, noting that tonight Aquasa's planetary shadow was in a position that rendered one moon a waning crescent, the other a waxing crescent.
Quite the beautiful sight that Nillyna always appreciated, made even more special now that she had found somebody to share it with.
Lily, however, was appreciating the moons in a different fashion, namely their luminescence.
The pale moonlight light flooded into the room, illuminating the opposite wall, where Lily's new staff was leaning. Nillyna's contributions this far notwithstanding (she is her girlfriend after all) Sonata crafting the staff for her for no other reason than simple generosity's sake the first selfless act someone had done for her. For a while Lily just observed the elegant implement shaped into the facade of a rose with a cacophony of feelings. She was genuinely grateful for Sonata's gesture, for without the staff Lily was certain she would still be blundering through the halls of Nillyna's house, occasionally falling on her face, rather than lying here in this bed, having just experienced new sensual benefits with her girlfriend. She was also remorseful. None of this would be possible if she had eaten the Snerrets as she planned. Nillyna had been right, it was a good thing to have friends to have your back whenever you may need it along with a lover who adores you.
It was through all these feelings that Lily was finally able to have genuine concern for Sonata and Grayscale's situation. They were lost, so far from home, separated from everything and everyone they know and care about. How would Lily feel if she had been separated from her home here with Nillyna? She had actually been separated from her home once before and it hadn't been an easy easy experience to cope with.
And what would happen to them if they actually couldn't return home? What if it was a feat even beyond Nillyna's exquisite capabilities ?
"The moons are beautiful tonight." Lily was drawn out of her musings and realizations by Nillyna's sudden comment, turning her gaze away from her staff to look up at the moons as well.
"Yes, they are," she agreed. "Hey, Nillyna?"
"Yes love?" Replied Nillyna, turning her head away from the massive windows to look at Lily directly, tightening her grip on her hand affectionately when she noticed her somber expression.
"It's more than likely that Sonata and Grayscale are stranded here indefinitely, isn't it?"
Nillyna's tranquil expression morphed to one of worry and regret as she looked over to a nearby vanity, where the ruby containing all the properties needed to return their guests home sat, its red facets glistening in the moonlight.
"Truthfully Lily, I would say that is most likely the case," replied Nillyna melancholically. "It all depends on whether or not an Arcane Capacitor will be able to supply the necessary magic to open the portal."
"And should that fail?" Inquired Lily further. "What will happen to them?"
Nillyna looked back to Lily with a dedicated smile. "Why, I will accommodate them, of course."
"You would do that for them?" Lily asked, some of her newfound concern for those she could now consider friends easing a bit.
"Of course," said Nillyna with a nod. "Their predicament was my fault in the first place. I will take full responsibility for their well-being if getting them home proves to be too much. I will welcome them to stay in my home indefinitely. I will also aid them in adapting to life on Aquasa."
Her girlfriend's words eased Lily's mind. She was such a generous soul. Nillyna herself also found the concern Lily was projecting endearing. The plant-girl was adjusting just how she had originally hoped. Maybe now she won't be so quick to consume people.
But this all brought a concerning thought to the forefront Nillyna's mind. "But Lily, about Sonata and Grayscale..."
"What, is something wrong?" Asked Lily, some of her earlier concerns resurfacing.
"Well…not particularly wrong, per say. It's just that, regardless of whether or not I can get them home, it's probably best if we refrain from telling them about the properties of your fruit, Lily," Nillyna stated, slight shame in her tone.
At her words Lily realized she hadn't thought about her fruit for a while. At one time it was her most alluring trait, tempting those seeking immortality to her meadow for her to capture and feast upon, but now, as of late, Lily's focus had been centered around her relationship with Nillyna.
Nillyna hadn't even brought it up in recent months, not since she had that emotional breakdown, back when Lily was refusing to believe that Nillyna desired the plant-girl herself, not her fruit that granted eternal youth.
"You really think we should keep it a secret from them?" She inquired, unsure of the reasoning to do so. Sonata and Grayscale were their friends now, weren't they?
Nillyna nodded with a slightly sad expression. "One way or another, Sonata and Grayscale are going to be staying with us for a while, and if they're going to be staying here it's more than likely a conversation will ensue between us, especially since we're all trying to get along. But whatever happens, I think it's best if they don't learn that your fruit is capable of granting eternal youth.”
Lily was no fool. She fully grasped what Nillyna was implying.
"Do you really think Sonata and Grayscale would try anything if they knew my fruit could grant eternal youth?" Asked Lily. "I mean, they both seem like gentle souls. You even defended them from my ravenous actions when I wanted to unjustly eat them."
Despite her glutinous tendencies Lily's was fully capable of comprehending decency and maliciousness from one another. Linda and Shadow were prime examples of the latter after all and Nillyna the former.
"I wouldn't disagree, and I'd hate to think ill of them myself," Nillyna admitted with a hint of shame, having already grown slightly fond of the Snerrets in the brief time she had known them. "But I have seen what temptation can do to people first hand and I will not underestimate it."
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Asked Lily, tilting her head in confusion.
"Lily, I attended one of the most prestigious magic schools on Pangaea when I was a child," explained Nillyna, looking back out the window at the two moons in remembrance. "I had many classmates back then with whom I learned magic with."
"Like Linda?"
Nillyna flinched at hearing the name of her late former classmate. "Yes, like her, probably more than you realize."
Lily looked on in confusion again.
"You noticed how egotistical and self-centered Linda was, right?" Asked Nillyna.
Lily nodded with a sour expression. She thought she might have even been able to palpably taste those traits on Linda when she had ingested her all those months ago.
"Well, the truth is Linda's attitude was hardly uncommon amongst my fellow students," continued Nillyna. "While none really went as far as she did, Linda wasn't the only one who became corrupted by ambition and lust for power. As they mastered some of the most powerful magic known to the world several of my classmates succumbed to the temptation to use it to forward their own ends, even maliciously. I fear Sonata and Grayscale might fall under the same influence if they learn the truth about your fruit."
Lily gulped nervously. "Do you really think Sonata and Grayscale would really do that?"
Nillyna nodded again. "Many of the classmates I mentioned that went down the wrong path started out like any other child that first attended that school: Jovial, innocent, playing with their friends between studies, but as they grew older and honed their abilities and saw the true potential of the arcane arts and all it could grant them, they became arrogant, selfish, and cruel. Those who didn’t end up killing themselves trying to perform sorcery beyond their level have ended up hurting and killing many innocents in pursuit of their desires. And, while I am loath to admit it, their desires were nowhere near as alluring as the fruit you produce. Powerful magic can be used to gain wealth and power and other petty vices, but true eternal youth and life can only be gained from one largely unknown source… and you already know what that is, Lily.”
Lily nodded in understanding. If those Snerrets discovered the true nature of her fruit, they could very well desire to take it for themselves, and even had a means to do so. The memory of Grayscale's venom came to mind, making Lily shiver. "What should we tell them, should they ever ask about my fruit?"
Nillyna turned towards Lily with a slight smile. "I didn't say we shouldn't tell them about your fruit completely. If they were to ask us something that might lead to us having to bring it up we'll be as honest as possible and regale the tale of how we met. It wouldn't be a good idea to lie to them too much. Too many collaborations to keep track of."
"And the properties of my fruit?" Inquired Lily further.
"We only have to keep the part about eternal youth a secret. We can tell them the rest," said Nillyna. "You remember? How your fruit can also allow spellcasters to use magic at night without the aid of a talisman. It won't be a complete lie if we tell them about that, and it would hardly tempt them, given their lack of magical ability anyway, as you said."
Yes, that sounded like a good idea, Lily agreeing wholeheartedly.
"So what do we do now?" Asked Lily.
"Well, now we get some sleep," said Nillyna, reaching down and pulling the sheets up and over them, thankfully now devoid of the results of their previous activities, thanks to the housekeeping magic of Nillyna's home. "Then tomorrow I will have to go out shopping. I need components for crafting the Arcane Capacitor."
That night Lily slept in a bed for the first time in her life. Despite the grim topic discussed before sleep finally occurred it was an experience she will never forget, especially because of whom she got to share it with.
—
The next day came and Sonata and Grayscale were no more used to their new surroundings than previously when they awoke. It wasn't just the unfamiliarity. Everything about the room Nillyna lent them screamed wealth, luxury, and lavishness, and for people like Sonata and Grayscale, who had always lived a modest yet comfortable life, having all this glamor just thrust upon them came with its own sense of unease. Still, that didn't mean they weren't trying to make the most of it.
Especially considering that they had managed to bring a small piece of home with them.
Upon awakening, Sonata and Grayscale had opted not to get up immediately and had instead decided to watch something on Sonata's phone. They laid against the extravagant silk pillow under equally extravagant silk sheets, Grayscale leaning against Sonata's broader frame, using her left breast as a pillow. Sonata had arched her tail around under the sheets, forming a makeshift canvas table upon which her cellphone rested, the final episode of “The Owl House” playing on the screen. Normally this would run down the battery, but after the last couple days Sonata noticed it seemed to recharge by itself when not used, albeit much slower than it would via a proper charger. They both assumed it had something to do with the magic in the air, but whatever it was they were simply glad that a lack of internet or phone service was the only problem the phone had.
Once the show was over they both finally rose up from their bed and stretched their various limbs. Sonata practically flattened her snakelike jaws open as she yawned long and deeply; her long forked tongue unfurling and curling back up like a party favor.
Grayscale mirrored her actions, though he had to put in more effort, he had two more limbs than she did after all. After attending to their usual morning needs (luckily Grayscale had tested the lavatory prior and discovered it was fairly easy to use, the sink employing a similar stimulated rain as the Downpour chamber, the toilet using vanishing magic that got rid of waste) the two left their room and entered the vast hallways of Nillyna's extravagant mansion to seek out the kitchen once again. Normally they would have sex at least once before leaving the bedroom entirely after waking up, but with yesterday's antics involving that interesting blend of Nillyna's and the fact that the last thing they had eaten was a handful of starfruit meant both Snerret's were too ravenous to care about coitus right now.
Grayscale was slightly worried as well. If they didn't find something to eat soon Sonata might resort to eating him. If he didn't eat her first. But any plans of devouring each other vanished from their minds as they suddenly caught a whiff of an unfamiliar yet enticing smell on their noses and tongues, something like a mix of exotic herbs and spices from faraway lands. As they headed further down the hallway, their ears picked up the sound of crackling flames and sizzling meats, with the occasional rhythmic chopping of vegetables.
"Must be Nillyna!" Said Grayscale over the clamoring of his own feet.
"I hope whatever she's making, she made enough for all of us!" Proclaimed Sonata hopefully, her eyes twinkling with anticipation and excitement.
The alluring odor eventually led them to a wide entryway concealed behind a beautiful maroon velvet curtain. They stopped briefly, for this wasn't the same place Grayscale had led them the previous morning where they had inadvertently eaten Hovermelons.
"She must have more than one kitchen," commented Grayscale, still holding Sonata's hand.
"If not for all I have seen so far I would be surprised," said Sonata, rolling her hot pink eyes.
"Grayscale, Sonata, wonderful! You’re both awake," Nillyna's voice called out from the other side of the curtain. "Come on in. The Grilled Cockatrice and Mammoth Balls Fricassee is almost ready."
Sonata and Grayscale exchanged a look that was equal parts eager anticipation and unsettling confusion. Had they heard that right? Cockatrice and mammoth?
Like most Snerrets, Sonata and Grayscale were always eager to try new foodstuffs, within budget of course. Fricassee could be an expensive fare that Sonata and Grayscale rarely got the opportunity to enjoy, usually prepared in high-end restaurants. The cheaper premade kind bought at grocery stores was fine, but could hardly compare to the real thing. If Nillyna was making fricassee it definitely had their interest.
But grilled cockatrice and mammoth balls… yet another reminder of how many constants and variables there were between their homeworlds. As they parted the curtain and entered the kitchen, they silently hoped the choice of protein was the only variable the local fricassee held.
The first thing that they noticed was this kitchen, while similar in size to the first one that they visited and had several similar looking equipment and countertops, didn't have a dome window roof. The roof was the same as the rest of the house, smooth and featureless, but the blue light of Aquasa's unique sun still filtered in through several eight foot high windows at the other end of the room. It was here that the room morphed from a kitchen to an apparent dining room, a large round table situated beneath the windows, a smaller square table supporting a large crystal pitcher containing a transparent blue liquid, surrounded by several crystal drinking glasses.
Surprisingly enough, Lily was sitting at the table, still wearing the elegant choker that had the enchantments on it that separated her from her large plant body. The staff Sonata had made for her yesterday was leaning next to her against the table. For her part, Lily didn't seem to notice Sonata and Grayscale's entrance, all her focus centered around Nillyna.
Said Lepidopteran girl was standing at one of the counters, standing over a stove, her wings molded into an elegant pearlescent nightgown (which, the others had all individually noted, framed her backside quite well). A large cooking pot was situated before her, its contents simmering as Nillyna stirred it with a large wooden spoon. It was here that was the source of heavenly smell obviously and Sonata and Grayscale moved in closer to have a better look.
It certainly didn't appear to be any sort of fricassee they had seen before. Sure it was thick, saucy and meaty, with many chopped vegetables mixed within, but whereas a fricassee they were familiar with would be creamy in appearance, what Nillyna had prepared was a deep crimson in color, almost like spaghetti sauce. Two types of meat bobbed around on the surface; thick, hearty slabs of white meat and small, dark-colored meatballs, both generously seasoned with a variety of spices. Despite Nillyna's stirring, each meatball was connected by thick white strings of what could only be compared to mozzarella cheese, both in consistency and smell.
All in all, it looked more like a meatball sandwich stew than a fricassee as Nillyna claimed.
"I do hope it's acceptable for your palate," said Nillyna hopefully as she looked up at them from her cooking, slight anticipation for their reactions noticeable in her expression. "It's a widely popular dish here on Aquasa, but I know that's no guarantee that you will like it."
Despite the alien appearance of the meal being prepared, Sonata and Grayscale gave Nillyna supportive smiles.
"I'm sure it will be fine, Miss Nillyna," said Grayscale humbly.
"If the smell is anything to go by, we have nothing to worry about," said Sonata enthusiastically, wiping her drooling mouth with a fancy dinner napkin lying on the counter. It was true. Despite its unfamiliarity, the smell of The Grilled Cockatrice and Mammoth Balls Fricassee was still arousing both Sonata and Grayscale's already overeager appetites. "Besides, Snerret's aren't know to be picky."
"You got that right," said Grayscale, elbowing Sonata in the rib playfully. "If Sonata here can eat a guy wearing a hotdog costume with no problem, I don't think this will give her any trouble."
"HEY!" Protested Sonata angrily, a slight blush on her muzzle. "I didn’t swallow him all the way! And I only did it because he grabbed my ass when we posed for a photo.”
“Still, it was pretty funny how you kept coughing up those Georgie’s coupons all week.”
Sonata snickered. “I’m just surprised the clerks still took them.”
Nillyna couldn't help but snicker at their playful bickering. These two were obviously the definition of the best of friends.
"And, it's done," she declared, removing the stirring spoon from the pot and setting it in a nearby sink. Then, with a flick of her talisman cane, plates and cutlery emerged from the cupboards. Nillyna then served The Grilled Cockatrice and Mammoth Balls Fricassee onto four sizable plates, offering two to Sonata and Grayscale.
Eagerly accepting the hearty meals Sonata and Grayscale made their way over to the table, helping themselves to some of the chilled blue drink along the way. Nillyna followed, offering a plate and glass to Lily as she sat next to her, opposite of where Sonata and Grayscale sat. Lily was a little hesitant at first, for what was on the plate barely registered as food to her. But eventually, with Nillyna's insistence, she accepted the plate and drink, the concept of how to go about this already comprehendable in her mind. She probably absorbed the knowledge of how to use a knife and fork from someone she devoured.
Lily took her first bite of civilized food in her life.
And it was an experience she had no comparison for. The flavors and textures of cooked and seasoned meat was indescribable, nothing she had eaten in the wild could compare. Nillyna smiled as her girlfriend dropped all hints of hesitation after her first bite and began to vigorously eat her meal, maybe her adjustment would proceed smoothly from now on.
And Lily wasn't the only one enjoying the meal.
Sonata and Grayscale were also eagerly attacking their plates; still maintaining a sense of decorum, but if they ate any more aggressively they would step right into the realm of savagery. The Grilled Cockatrice and Mammoth Balls Fricassee was actually just as creamy as one would expect of a fricassee, despite the coloration of the sauce, going down fairly easily. The slabs of meat were similar to poultry, lean and hearty yet still surprisingly juicy and flavorful. The meatballs were a different breed of savory. Their stringy, melty coating was a type of cheese as they expected, but comparing it to mozzarella would be like comparing a diamond to quartz. It had such a rich, creamy feel and flavor to it Sonata and Grayscale wondered if they came from the milk of a unicorn or some other majestic, magical beast. And that's to say nothing about the meatballs themselves, which were dense yet tender with a delightfully zesty spice to it that made their tongues tingle. It almost made them wish mammoths weren’t extinct back on Terra, or else they’d definitely cook up a batch of these when they got home.
If they ever get home.
And the drink was delicious too. Despite looking like Windex, it had a delightful fruity flavor that kinda reminded Sonata and Grayscale of watermelon (much to Grayscale's enjoyment) with a hint of cherry.
"This is fantastic, Nillyna," Grayscale complimented. "First that omelet yesterday morning and now this. Where did you learn to cook like this?"
"Oh, it's just a simple readaptation of one of my talents," Nillyna explained, a slight blush at the praise. "I excel at all forms of magic, including brewing potions, it doesn't take much to apply those skills to preparing meals."
Sonata let out a whistle of admiration. "Gotta say, you're more self reliant than any wealthy person we know of, no offense."
Nillyna’s antennae twitched with curiosity. "What do you mean by that?"
"Well, back on our world, most of the rich folks have maids, butlers, and servants to do all the busywork for them so they can focus on getting richer and partying and stuff," Sonata explained further. "Can't cook for themselves, can't maintain their own house. They have legions of servants that tend to their every need. It's even rumored that some have to have help dressing themselves even."
"But you, Miss Nillyna, are nothing like what we would expect of someone of your obvious wealth," commented Grayscale. "It's so awesome how you look after all of the responsibilities of your household on your own."
Nillyna, for her part, had never really thought of it like that. Sure, she was wealthy, and sure, she was aware of what effect such wealth can have on a person. It wasn't just Sonata and Grayscale's home world, Aquasa had its fair share of pompous aristocrats, she had even worked for a few of them. One had actually commissioned her to enchant a bed so it actually levitated him to his feet when it was time to get up so he didn't have to stand up himself. Such laziness.
"Don't praise me too much," said Nillyna, taking another bite of her food. "I have my own reasons for being self-reliant other than self-respect."
"Oh?" Inquired Sonata and Grayscale together, tilting their heads expectantly.
Lily, who had been solely focused on her meal up to that point, also looked on expectantly, with a bit of concern- with their previous talk about keeping her fruit’s true nature a secret, she was slightly worried that talking about her line of work could only make them more curious.
Nillyna looked to her talisman cane leaning against the table next to her, contemplating on what made it and the magic she performed with it meant to her livelihood. "My line of work comes with several perks," she said, deciding now was the best time to start explaining some things to Sonata and Grayscale. "Perks that result from things best left close to the vest."
That was a saying neither Sonata or Grayscale expected to hear from Nillyna.
"Oh?" Grayscale mused again. "If you don't mind me asking what is it that you do?"
"I would like to know as well," said Sonata, looking around the extravagant dining area with intrigue. "This entire place screams wealth, and I'm betting the fact that this place is built on a floating island also contributes a great deal to its value. How come you are so rich?"
"I'm a Master Sorceress," was Nillyna's simple explanation, her expression proud. Sonata and Grayscale exchanged confused looks, which Nillyna immediately noticed. "What?"
"Well…what does that mean, exactly?" Asked Sonata.
Nillyna's reaction was surprising to both of them, looking at Sonata as if she had grown a second. "Do you not know what it means to be a Master of Magic? I thought you said they had magic on your own world?"
"Oh yeah, we do," Grayscale stepped in, nodding. "But titles like “wizard”, “witch”, “sorceress” and whatnot don’t really have any kind of ranking back home. Anyone who can cause sparks by snapping their fingers pretty much calls themselves a sorcerer."
Nillyna tilted her head, her meal forgotten for the moment. "Is there no regulation for magic users and their skill sets where you're from?"
"Not that we're aware of," said Sonata, swallowing one of the spicy, cheesy meatballs, having never once halted in her eating. "To be honest, magic is pretty sparse on Terra. Unlike here, where all you need to do is sunbathe to use magic, on Terra you either can use magic or you can't, and those who can pretty much keep to themselves or gather in secret covens to study magic together. They practically live in their own world.”
“I’ve even heard they literally do live in their own world,” Grayscale noted, sipping his drink.
That was a concept Nillyna had a hard time fathoming. If what they said was true magic was so scarce on the Snerret's homeworld there was no way it was a factor in the everyday life of that world's inhabitants. Here on Aquasa, magic was interwoven into every aspect of society and infrastructure, yet from what she saw on Sonata’s phone, their technology could hardly be considered primitive- heck, the existence and machinations of that “phone” alone was an incredible sight to her. And it wasn’t magic? She made a mental note to investigate this fact further at a later date. Perhaps it could aid her in getting these two back home.
“Well, back to your question: as a Master Sorceress, I am fluent in all things arcane," Nillyna explained. "From spellcasting and enchantments, to potion brewing and alchemy." Nillyna, while no narcissist, had at least a little bit of pride, projected in her obvious smile. "And I am one of the best in the world, if I do say so myself."
Sonata and Grayscale's eyes widened in awe. They knew their host to be powerful in magic, but she claims to be one of the best on Aquasa. Course, it could all just be baseless boasting, but they had seen Nillyna's talents first hand so had no reason to doubt her.
"And because of this you're rich?" Asked Grayscale, eager to know more.
"Oh, you said you were good at alchemy, I bet you can change lead into gold," speculated Sonata.
Nillyna visibly flinched in indignation but pressed it down. There was no way they could have known.
"I'm afraid your way off, Sonata," she said, looking at the striking pink Snerret with a slight frown. "And I would appreciate it if you would refrain from saying such things in the future. Actions such as that are strictly forbidden for magic users such as myself and are highly punishable."
Grayscale thumped Sonata on the shoulder with an annoyed frown as a remorseful look crossed her face. "Sorry!"
"It's okay, you didn't know," said Nillyna. "And the reason my skills make me so wealthy is because, unlike what you said prior, Gray, magic isn't as abundant as you may think. While, given your description, magic is indeed more plentiful here, the same cannot be said about those who can use it. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people who can use magic on Aquasa, but precious few could ever hope to attain my level of skill. Therefore, whenever someone or someplace faces a dire problem that only magic can resolve, they turn to Masters such as myself. Whether it’s to cast powerful spells or to simply advise with our specialized knowledge, we are paid to solve problems that cannot be resolved through mundane means."
"Oh, I get it," said Sonata in understanding. "You're like a magic solutionist. You're paid to solve problems."
Nillyna tapped her chin. "You know, that's actually a good way to describe it. I wonder why no one else has ever thought of that title for people like me?"
"Something like that pays this well?" Contemplated Grayscale, his gaze wandering over their extravagant surroundings again.
"More than you might think," continued Nillyna. "Some of the quandaries I have been commissioned to deal with would seem impossible for any person without my skills, and when that is the case, I can charge pretty much anything I want. Take the mirror that brought you here for example. It was the precursor to a very detrimental task some time back. I had been hired to craft a magical gateway by a wealthy client. One of many highly profitable undertakings I've had in the past.
"That's why I am so self reliant. If I had legions of servant's at my beck and call, some of them might be tempted to steal my work." Nillyna briefly remembered Linda. "Someone has already tried quite recently actually."
Grayscale let out an impressed whistle, turning around to gaze at the sunlight pouring in through the large windows. "You know, Sonata? We might think about a change in career, since this world’s magic seems to work pretty well with us."
It was just an offhand comment, but Sonata gagged a bit on her mouthful of cockatrice, swallowing it down as she turned to look him in the eye. “No way. After what happened with your—ugh— your hand…” She winced as she tried to block out the mental image of Grayscale’s bleeding paw.
Grayscale gulped nervously, subconsciously rubbing said paw, remembering the pain of having several inches of gem embroidered metal shoved through his flesh. “Oh! Sorry, nevermind… you’re right, best to stick with what we know for now.”
Across the table Nillyna and Lily's curiosity peaked. "What is it you two do back on your home planet anyway?" Lily asked, speaking up for the first time. She was aware of the concept of employment after all, due to all the knowledge assimilated from so many of the civilized beings she had consumed and was curious about what Sonata and Grayscale do for a living.
"I would like to know as well," chimed Nillyna, setting her silverware down to rest her elbows on the table, propping her chin up with two of her hands.
Sonata lit up at the opportunity to change the subject. “Oh! Well, me and Gray here both work together livestreaming games and cosplay over the inter-” she suddenly noticed Nillyna and Lily’s puzzled expressions, realizing they likely didn’t understand half of what she said.
“What Sonata means is,” Gray interjected, “we’re entertainers of a sort. You remember those videos… uh, the moving pictures we showed you on our phone? We make those, and distribute them all over the world for people to watch.”
Nillyna’s expression went from confusion back to curiosity. “Fascinating! And you send this over the… what did you call it, the “Inter”? Is that like the aether?”
“No no,” Sonata replied, “I was going to say “the Internet”. It’s uh… well, that phone of ours? Lots of people have one like that back on Terra, and they’re connected through the Internet. It’s where we can share and trade stuff like videos, stories, pictures, music, and a bunch of other stuff.”
The description of such a creation made Nillyna’s antennae twitch with excitement. “That’s incredible! How does that work?”
Both snerrets glanced at each other awkwardly. “That’s, uh…” Grayscale muttered, “Not really our area of expertise. But anyway, back on topic- we make videos together.”
“Like the one where you devoured that bat girl?” Lily asked nonchalantly.
Sonata felt her fur stand on end briefly before she looked over at Lily. “Um, yes actually. We both make a living entertaining people with comedy and costumes and whatnot, but by far our most popular product is, well, pornography.” Sonata beamed proudly. “Yup, I’m a porn star.”
“You do have porn on this world, right?” Grayscale asked.
Nillyna blushed a bit from hearing such a blatant question. Pornography and erotica certainly did exist on Aquasa, from paintings to poetry to entire operas featuring live orgies. But of course it was rarely spoken of out loud in polite company in most parts of the world, with consumption of such material considered something done in private. Nillyna herself certainly was no prude, having an ample selection of erotic romance novellas in her collection, though she only indulged in such things on rare occasions when her base urges could no longer be ignored. She simply nodded in response, and followed up with, “And your… devouring of that bat… was that supposed to be erotic as well?”
“Oh yes, it’s called “vore”,” Gray explained, “short for “voreaphilia”. Basically, we get off on the thought of eating, or being eaten by other creatures. Of course, being snerrets,” He nudged Sonata playfully for emphasis, “We can do more than imagine it. As you can probably tell, us snerrets are able to swallow others whole with ease, and our audience loves it.”
“Yeah, you won’t believe how many requests to be eaten I get every week,” Sonata chuckled, rolling her eyes.
“People actually… want to be eaten? And digested?” Nillnya muttered in disbelief. Even though she saw what had happened to Sepia on Sonata’s phone, it was hard to imagine such a thing.
“Well, you certainly don’t mind when I slurp you up in my plant-mouth, Nilly dear.” Lily chimed in.
The feathery white hairs of Nillyna’s neck-fluff and antennae momentarily stood on end as if she had been hit with a taser as she looked over at Lily, blushing harder than ever. “Lily love,” She hissed incredulously, “let’s not discuss our sex life at the table—”
“Why not?” Lily asked, not even bothering to lower her voice. “I mean we’re all naked, and they certainly don’t mind talking about how they fuck and eat people for-” She was suddenly cut off by one of Nillyna’s hands whipping out from below the table and squeezing Lily’s wrist in a wordless plea to quiet.
Thankfully, Lily took the hint and ceased her explanation.
Though success was another matter, for apparently Sonata and Grayscale had their own pieces to add.
"Come on, Miss Nillyna, don't be so hard on her," Grayscale insisted.
"Yeah," agreed Sonata with a supportive smile. "You'll get no judgment from us. Me and Gray have been around the block more than once. Nothing you two get up to could unnerve us."
"Truer words have never been spoken," added Grayscale. "In our line of work we have seen it all, the kinkiest of fetishes."
Their words gradually eased Nillyna, who took her hand from Lily's with an apologetic expression. "Forgive me, my dear. Such topics are…unsettling for me to discuss in the company of others."
Lily didn't fully understand why something as pleasurable as sex would be unsettling. Sure, she knew that social taboos existed, like swear words and public nudity, but the reasons for them to exist were still a mystery to her. Even with her lack of first-hand experience with the world outside her old meadow, the idea of sex and sexuality being something shameful to speak of seemed nonsensical to her. Still, she was not upset by Nillyna’s reaction. "It's alright," she said reassuringly, stroking Nillyna's thigh comfortingly.
Nillyna smiled in appreciation as she turned back to Sonata and Grayscale. "And thank you both for being so amicable with such a topic. Most would find it undesirable to talk about such things."
"Nah, no biggie," said Grayscale with a wink.
"And right back at you," reassured Sonata. "“It’s not nearly as frowned upon as it used to be, but even so, most folks outside our circle of friends tend to react to our line of work with… unkind words." Sonata couldn't suppress a slight scowl at that, remembering some particularly unkind words spoken to her by her parents so long ago.
Nillyna shook her head with a supportive smile. "I may have my reservations about such things but I don't begrudge people who work in those fields, be they presentation or physical. Intercourse is a natural desire, same as eating and sleeping."
Sonata and Grayscale felt immense relief and gratitude at her words. If only people like this weren't one in a hundred, maybe their lives would be more comfortable back on Terra.
Before the conversation could go further, a melody of deep yet gentle bell-chimes rang throughout the room from some unseen clock (at least in his head Grayscale assumed it was a clock, as the tune reminded him of the sound his grandparents’ antique clock would make at the stroke of noon). The melody made Nillyna immediately stand to attention. "My goodness, is it that time already?" She commented, her nightgown suddenly morphing back into her wings in a flash of light, briefly revealing her nudity (much to the admiration of her companions) before her wings re-shaped themselves into a simple yet elegant white gown. "I need to get going!"
"Wait, where are you going?" Asked Grayscale.
"I need to get started on gathering supplies for constructing the Arcane Capacitor," explained Nillyna, picking up her talisman cane and walking over to the window, the elegant walking stick glowing as it was filled with sunlight. No magician leaves home without a full talisman.
Sonata and Grayscale exchanged anxiously looks as they were reminded of the weight of their situation once again. "How long do you think it will take?" Sonata asked nervously.
Nillyna gave them a sentimental look. "About a week, maybe two."
Sonata gasped with surprise and dread, and Grayscale grew a wide eyed expression. "Holy shit!" He swore. "I know you said it would take a while to make, but just getting the parts will take that long?”
"As I said before," Nillyna replied, picking up a small leather bag. “ Arcane Capacitors are highly prohibited by the Laws of Enchantment. I need to be discreet about gathering the components or else I could draw attention to myself.” She opened a nearby drawer and started grabbing a few small items that were unfamiliar to her lover and housemates, but seemed important to Nillyna, the way she was stuffing them in her bag.
"Soooo… where are you going?" Asked Sonata with genuine curiosity.
"The city of Azhore," said Nillyna, walking back over to the table as she finished filling her talisman. "As my first stop, anyway. It’s best I don’t get too many of the components all in the same place or at the same time, so I’ll have to spread my shopping out between markets to avoid the eyes of the law."
That actually made sense to the Snerret's. Better safe than sorry. "What is this "Azhore" like?" Asked Sonata.
"Hey, isn't that the Kirin city that was having trouble with that Chameleon dragon?" Inquired Lily suddenly.
"Indeed it is," said Nillyna, nodding in confirmation to her girlfriend. "They're a major trading hub. I'm guaranteed to get a good start on gathering equipment there."
"Kirin!" Stated Grayscale excitedly, both him and Sonata standing up, having finished their meals. "There are Kirin here too? Sweet!"
Nillyna gave them a puzzled look. "There's Kirin on your world as well?"
"Oh yeah!" Said Sonata enthusiastically. "Really chill group of people, and they always made the best clients whenever we had the rare opportunity to feature them in our videos."
"Hey, remember those Kirin twins, Akira and Akemi?" Grayscale asked Sonata, who practically swooned with half lidded eyes.
"Oh, I will never forget them," she mumbled dreamily. "You would be hard pressed to find girls as lustful and enthusiastic as me, but those two really gave me a run for my money. And they both tasted sooo good."
"It was a shame they were only with us for a brief spell," Grayscale continued, slight regret in his voice. "Who would have thought their content would bring in enough money to pay for their college tuition in just three weeks? They were so popular."
Nillyna couldn't help but blush as they reminisced, obviously talking about more of these "pornos" they apparently make for a living. Though the subject of them working with Kirin did catch her slightly off guard as well. “I didn’t know you could swallow something as large as a quadruped, Sonata. Is that typical of a Snerret?”
“Hmm? Quadruped? Oh no, the kirin we met all have two legs and two arms, like Gray here. About a head taller, and a lot skinnier than him too… ” She gestured towards Grayscale briefly before moving her hands in an hourglass shape to emphasize her next talking point. “...but puberty was ESPECIALLY generous to them, if you know what I mean,” she wagged her eyebrows at the moth girl suggestively.
Nillyna giggled, turning her face away bashfully. "How fascinating our worlds’ are to each other… but anyway," she said, tapping her cane on the floor. "I will be gone for roughly three days, so if anyone needs anything please let me know now."
Sonata and Grayscale understood her reasoning. If these were the precautions that Nillyna needed to take to avoid getting caught making the most illegal device on this planet who were they to argue. But still, the prospect of being left here at Nillyna's estate for three days wasn't alluring. It was a fancy establishment, but there was obviously precious little to do here. Sonata and Grayscale were active, outgoing people, never the type to be comfortable just staying confident to one location, at least not for days on end. The commissions that required them to travel to different places were their favorite back home.
Sonata especially wasn't fond of the idea of just waiting around Nillyna's house for however long it might take for Nillyna to return her and Gray back to Terra. Ever since she had found out about the airborne nature of Nillyna's estate she had had a slightly uneasy sensation in her coils, like the ground might drop out from under her at any moment. It was manageable and ignorable for the most part, but Sonata felt she needed to find a way to alleviate it every now and then and the only way to do that was to get to level ground.
And an opportunity was presented right now, but, coincidentally, Grayscale beat her to the request.
"Uh, Miss Nillyna?" He began sheepishly, rubbing his hands together. "Could…me and Sonata maybe accompany you to this Azhore place?"
Nillyna paused at the request. "Why do you ask?"
"Well," said Sonata, trying her best to hide her nerves. “If we’re both going to be stuck on this planet for who-knows-how-long, it’d be nice to see more of it as long as we’re here.”
"That, and we could both use a break from being up in the air," exclaimed Grayscale honestly. “Not that we don’t trust your word about how reliably this island stays airborne, but it would be nice to be on solid ground for a bit.”
Lily cleared her throat, stepping closer to Nillyna. “If it’s not too much to ask, I wouldn’t mind going either,” she muttered. “It’d be a good excuse to try out my new legs… that is part of the reason why you gave them to me, right?”
Nillyna was contemplating Sonata and Lily’s words. She hadn’t considered bringing any one of them along, much less all three but, being confined here probably wasn't good for their well-being and she had no reason to refuse letting them come… well, except one.
"I don't mind you joining me, but there are a couple issues we’ll have to address," said Nillyna, pointing at Sonata's bare breasts. "First of all, you’ll want to cover yourself up. There’s no strict dress code in Azhore, but I doubt you’ll want to attract attention.”
Sonata looked down at her bare chest, cupping her breasts in both hands in contemplation rather than an attempt to cover up. She'd nearly forgotten that she had just spent the last several days going about naked. But with her collection of t-shirts out of reach and Nillyna’s castle lacking any outfits that weren’t her shapeshifted wings, she was somewhat at a loss of how to achieve a more modest attire.
Suddenly, Sonata’s ears perked up as she beamed, getting an idea. “Hey Gray, remember when we did that “fancy ballroom” bit on our late night stream?” She held out her arm to him as if inviting him to a dance.
Grayscale immediately grinned eagerly as he took the hint, jumping up over Sonata’s arm to wind around her neck, his noodly body draping over her shoulders as he clamped his mouth around his tail. Both Lily and Nillyna looked on in confusion, but once he was settled down it was clear that Sonata was now wearing Grayscale like a living fox-fur scarf!
Sonata struck an elegant pose as Grayscale looked over at the other two ladies, grinning cheekily. “Ow’s thiff’s loohk?” He muttered through a mouthful of tail.
Lily stifled a laugh, though Nillyna was hardly amused. “That’s an… interesting trick, though I think having your little friend draped over your breasts would attract even more attention than simply leaving them bare.”
Grayscale rolled his eyes, before letting go of his tail and slipping down to the floor before Sonata like a discarded necktie. “Eh, I don’t think I could keep that up all day anyway. So, what’s plan B, Sonata?”
Sonata rolled her shoulders a few times as she thought for a moment. "I got it!" She said, snapping her fingers.
An hour later Sonata, along with Lily and Grayscale as well, all sported simple yet fashionable togas, made using some of the spare bed sheets found in the guest room along with her own skills at making and sewing costumes. Ideally, she might have made a proper shirt or even a sundress for herself, but lacking time and a proper sewing machine (if such devices existed on Aquasa, though Nillyna had no use for such a thing, what with her ability to transmit her wings to almost any attire), she went with something simpler to make. Still, Nillyna was able to help by conjuring up some fine fabric scissors to cut the sheets to a proper shape and size for all three of them.
“Nice work, Sonata!” Lily exclaimed, turning this way and that to admire her handiwork.
“Indeed, I could get used to this,” Grayscale concurred, before looking back over at Nillyna. “Oh wait- you said there were a couple of things we needed to address... what was the other- wait, what are you doing?” His eyes went wide as he watched the sorceress point her cane right at him and wave it about! With a flash of bright blue, she cast a spell upon the unwary snerret. Before Sonata could react, she too was hit with a similar blast of magic.
Blinking the spots from their eyes, Grayscale hissed in annoyance at Nillyna. “Hey, warn me next time you… huh?” Once again his sentence was interrupted by something unexpected in his view, this time it was an array of white stringy things sticking out from either side of his muzzle. He now had a full set of long, thick whiskers! But that wasn’t the only change to his appearance: looking down at his body, Grayscale discovered that he had been turned into an otter, his green fur and gray scales replaced with silky-smooth, chocolate-brown fur, and his paws sporting webbed digits. His tail, once long and lithe, was now shorter and more rudder-like, and no longer ended with a rattle. Even his vibrant orange hair was now a more humble shade of dark blue-gray the color of slate.
“My hair!” Sonata cried in distress, drawing Grayscale’s attention to see she had been transformed as well, though not nearly as blatantly- Her body shape was largely the same, but her soft pink fur was now replaced with smooth diamond-shaped scales of the same color, though her cotton candy-blue belly scales were now a warm creamy yellow-white. but the most striking change in Sonata’s appearance was that her head and neck was now that of a large, pink-scaled cobra. As she patted her now hairless head in confusion, her fingers trailed down the sides of her neck before feeling her new hood flare out. She squeaked in shock at her newfound anatomy. “What the hell did you do to me?”
“Don’t worry, it’s merely an illusion,” Nillyna explained calmly, gesturing towards a full-length mirror on a nearby wall for them to view themselves with. “This is simply solving the second issue: the fact that snerrets such as yourselves don’t exist on Aquasa. So that you two will fit in better, I’ve given you both temporary disguises that fit your body shapes, namely that of an Otterkin and a Naga. I hope you like them.”
Grayscale and Sonata both calmed down after hearing that explanation, but were now looking at her slightly annoyed. “Uh, thanks,” Grayscale hissed, “But why didn’t you just ask us what disguise we wanted beforehand?”
“Because,” Nillyna stated matter-of-factly, “I want to get going, and I don’t have time to sit here writing down what you want for eye color or tail length or penis size or whatever other details you’d request.” She crossed her lower pair of arms, giving him a look that wordlessly implied she had dealt with such requests in the past.
Otter-Grayscale scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. He wouldn’t admit it, but that would have been something he would have done. “Uh… good point, I guess…”
“Hey wait,” Naga-Sonata said, narrowing her eyes. “If you can do this, why didn’t you just poof some clothes on us before?”
“I would have if I could,” Nillyna replied, “But illusion magic really only works when you have something to work with, like my wings for example… now then, any other questions before we head off?”
“Uh, yes love,” Lily exclaimed, tapping Nillyna’s shoulder. “What about me?”
Nillyna looked over at Lily in surprise. “Oh, of course! I can’t believe I didn’t consider your form. Let me see…” She tapped the top of her cane for a moment in contemplation, before giving it a quick flick in the air followed by a flash of blue that briefly covered Lily. As it faded away just as fast, what was once a humanoid plant girl was now another Lepidoptrian, with a spring-green exoskeleton, a vibrant frill of deep green neck-fluff, and shiny green hair that spilled over one of her shimmering red eyes. The only hint of her floral form was a pair of leaf-shaped feather antennae that bounced above her head.
Lily looked towards the mirror to see her new form. She gasped in surprise, blushing a bit at the sight of her new moth-girl form. “Oh… oh my! I-I wasn’t expecting this,” She stammered, waving her newly-acquired pair of arms. “b-but I like it! Hee hee, we… we look like we could be sisters!”
Nillyna giggled warmly at her girlfriend’s flustered behavior before leaning over and giving her a calming kiss on the cheek. “Glad you like it, love… Now then, let us be off!”
And so, with everyone properly dressed, all four of them gathered in the foyer, where Nillyna teleported them away with a wave of her talisman cane.
