Thirteen days. It only took thirteen days for humanity to be overrun. It wasn't even a war, just a slaughter. When they first arrived, they'd made sure to disable any chance of fighting back, their swarms of metal beads flying down the barrel of every weapon on Earth and detonating. The humans were tenacious, building impromptu weapons and resorting to chemical warfare but even then, it wasn't enough. They simply were no match...for monsters. Faced with no other options, the last force they sent out tried to surrender, but these creatures, these....outsiders, didn't wish for peace, they wanted to see humanity conquered, under heel and bowing to their authority.
For many who survived, Day 0 was when it all began but Day 13 was when humanity had truly lost.
-------
So this image, whether he knows it or not, was inspired by Toxenisfun. I was puzzling over what image I should make for the 13th when he suggested the Outsiders, seeing as they are my scariest giantess characters. He gave out the idea of an Outsider eating a person waving a white flag. Little did he know my brain did what it does and concocted a story behind such an idea which directly led to this: one of the most disastrous days in human history. So thanks Toxen for helping to doom mankind! XD
Day 13...yes, so here's a rare look at some of the beginning days of the Outsider Occupation, more the transition from the invasion into the occupation. We even get the skirts of a hint to some of the backstory I developed way back when after my first story for this series came out.
Also yes, this is one of my submissions for the deviantart Drawtober thing with the theme of, well obviously, thirteen.
Here's the link if you want to look at it for yourselves: https://www.deviantart.com/team/journal/Drawtober-2023-Draw-every-day-in-October-979847541
With all said and done, I'm happy this image came together so quick and so well. :meow: There was some early installment issues when the render crashed Daz during one of my preliminary pre renders but I realized I forgot I just had an entire city just floating off to the side and a quick delete fixed that straight up. So yeah here we are, a global tragedy that lives in infamy and signals the end of humanity as we know it. Who knew the apocalypse could be so beautiful?

Honestly, .....
This isn't one of your better works IMHO.
I love teh concept and teh setup but the explosion in the upper right corner seems out of sync with the rest of the pic, the scattered red dots actually give me the impression of pixels.
The greatest thing was teh white flag, when I first saw this image I thought something had gone wrong in that area of the image until I read the blurb and looked again that it clicked that it was the flag.
It's a very dramatic image (the tower on the lef side is very well done) and interesting story bit but either something still went wrong during the rendering process or my computer isn't displaying it properly.
Hope this wasn't too negative, just constructive observations.

It's finally happened...I''ve gotten constructive criticism on a render...Im so happy... :')
So first off: THANK YOU so MUCH for your honesty! No matter how negative, heck, maybe the MORE negative THESE are the kinds of comments that I look for and that get me going! XD
Now to the issues at hand: I'm also unsatisfied with this image. I agree with your sentiments about the explosion in the right hand corner. It seemed weird looking to me even after rendered and I wish I hadn't moved it's placement from where it had been originally. All the explosions actually could have used better placement.
The red dots unfortunately are unavoidable. My computer is not made to render things so it's just something that kind of happens, probably more noticeable from the dark environment.
I like the white flag detail but the entire image is too dark to even see it clearly, or ANY of the other details. For example: There's actually an arm sticking out of her mouth holding the flag. In her hands there are two soldiers trying to escape. At her feet and under the bridge there are a bunch of crumpled up and busted tanks, but its hard to nigh impossible to even see any of then, made worse by the fact that for my images this is a pretty small one, not being as big as my usual 3000xwhatever images and instead being somewhere around 1920xthe other number.
Similar to the wood texturing issue in FOUND You! if certain details that are supposed to be more clear cut aren't immediately identifiable then it's a failure on my part as the artist.
All in all I agree and appreciate your assessment. I think this image definitely suffered from being rushed (it was developed and rendered in the same day) and as such is definitely not the best work I could produce. I will need to do better in the future. Thank you. :D

Your very welcome!
Always nice to know that I am contributing.
Maybe work on getting just ONE explosion right in a picture and trying to replicate the success from there?
The rendering issue is understandable, and truth be told now that you mentioned it I think I noticed it in a few of the older Ettinheim pics posted on DeviantArt.
Yeah.... I still can't see anything you mentioned but the white flag and one crumbled up tank (right below the highway sign).
Maybe take a break from the visual side of your work and flesh out the background of your settings, give your mind (and computer) some time to rest before tackaling improvements to image quality?

I had been considering doing a new image altogether and just removing the explosions entirely. I had felt that overall none of them really worked. As for some of the details that can't be seen that is most likely a result of the image being too dark. I should be able to take care of that pretty handily.
Trust me, I'm ALWAYS fleshing out the background of these places! ;P
If anything the visual elements are for you all as it takes quite a while for some of the background elements to come together and I want to give you all something to enjoy every once and a while I get them figured out. But I appreciate the concern and once again thank you for the comment! XD
Also, I finally got around to updating the image so we'll see if that improved one is any better. ;)
