The digesting mass is moved to the gizzard. It has been reduced and dissolved prior to this organ. Now it will be mixed with enzymes to begin the final part of the digestive process.

Soon it will become a uniform soft mass flowing through the intestines, where the nutrients will be absorbed by the bird.
