My first post of the year and I do it presenting a new OC that will serve as a predator and can be used for different stories. His name is El Zangano.

What is Zangano?

The Zangano is an insectoid race of ambiguous origins with features of a bee or wasp and the tail of a scorpion. Their specimens are 100% male and have a particular white DNA that allows them to reproduce with any species. That may remind you of Xenomorphs or Tyranids but there is a small but very notable difference. The Zangano acts based on creating a colony and expanding it, ensuring its offspring, however the two previous examples are only consumers who do not stop until they destroy everything in their path.

The concept of the Zangano is based on what an insect colony would be like if instead of a queen, it was led by a King. This is the reason for this difference. Although it maintains the rest of the similarities with them.

Another characteristic of the Zangano is its enmity with any male of any species, generally because it competes for its females. With these he is always in hunting mode to take them to his burrow and turn them into incubators for his new colony. It usually prefers variety, so that its colony has high genetic diversity and adapts more quickly to its environments. Also obtaining the knowledge and skills of the other species.

Speaking of the hive system. It has the typical soldiers and workers whose functions are already known. However, others are also added due to the particularity of being led by males.

Attendants: They are those in charge with the specific task of caring for the females that will be given to the king of his hive, keeping them in a special chamber. They are a kind of hybrids between soldiers and workers since for the function of this task the capabilities of both are needed. They also take care of the babies that are born and assign them their roles within the hive. They are usually the oldest individuals.

Guardians: These are mainly responsible for taking care of their king. Unlike a queen, a Zangano King is much more active and usually has other functions beyond expanding the colony. However, this group arises at a point where the colony is very advanced and the king is not obliged to hunt females. They are generally the highest-ranking specimens.

The King: The origin of this OC. Unlike queen bees or ants he has more responsibilities. He is the leader and founder of the colony. At first his function is to get a burrow and females. However, as the colony grows, so do his duties. One of the many things he must do is the following.

Teach new generations to hunt: As the colony advances, you can assign the guardians to this task. But the King will be the individual with the most experience, therefore his knowledge is of great importance.

Expand Territory: The King must constantly expand the limits of his colony due to its growth, creating new chambers and guiding the workers so that they do not use unstable or dangerous places.

Resource Management: Unlike the rest of the colony, the Zangano is very self-sufficient and can go without food and water for long periods of time. That makes him the only one capable of managing these resources throughout the colony.

Protection against intruders: Soldiers are the main line of defense, but if things get complicated or fail. The King himself will go to defend his hive, similar to him, even Leon with his herd. King Zangano are willing to die for this good.
