Euryale the Gorgon:

One of the three gorgon sisters, Euryale and her sister Stheno mourned the loss of their sister Medusa, the only mortal one of the trio that was slain by the "hero" Perseus. After years of wallowing in pity, the duo decided to take action. Stheno headed to visit the underworld to make a plea to the god Hades for the return of their sister, while Euryale would stay at their home. Fending it off from would be heroes, looking to prove their merit and glory by eliminating the last Gorgon. Scarred and battered over the years, even losing an arm, but prevailing. However, decades went by without word or sighting of Stheno. Worried for her sister, Euryale made the trek to the underworld for answers. Earning her meeting with Hades by fighting her way through a hoarde of fallen soldiers, Euryale begged the god for answers pertaining her sisters.

Glumly, Hades admitted that Stheno had indeed visited him as intended. But it had been beyond his power to revive Medusa, being barred from doing so under the orders of Zeus for the sake of maintaining peace among the gods, as well as to not undo the legacy of his kin in slaying her. Distraught at this, Stheno had made a different request from Hades. Accepting a one way ticket to the underworld to be with her sister's spirit, essentially allowing her immortality to fade away to be together in the afterlife. Faced with the same offery of mercy however, Euryale did not let herself languish in despair. Feeling as if she was content that her sisters had reunited, and that someone had to remain to keep their legend alive, and to share their story.

Returning to he cavern home, Euryale eventually found herself visited less and less by wandered and heroes alike as the world changed and adapted over time, the gorgon falling into a deep slumber as her cavern was swallowed up by the shifting planes over time. Centuries would pass as modern archeologists unearthed her cavern, awakening the Gorgon once more. Her home decrept after the attempt to unearth it, Euryale has found herself in a world of oddities and wonder, a world of man over myth, a chance to start anew, should she find a purpose among this ever changing land before her.
