Author's note: There are, in fact, stories about a giant shark named the "Lord of the Deep," Polynesian fishermen who live along the coasts of New South Wales have told stories for decades about a shark of enormous size that's said to prowl those waters. The most famous reported sighting of the creature was alleged to have occurred in 1918, near Port Stephens, Australia.
