Since no one goes into Rest of the World... Posted 17 years ago
...and since those posts don't show up under "New Topics", I figured I'd bump this thread, at least in the blog section...

Anyway, please check this out?

I'm so confused...
Birthday! And Story Snippet! Posted 17 years ago
Yay, I'm 20 today!

...

Yay!

However, I couldn't bring myself to post just a blog with nothing but attention-demanding tripe in it, so I decided to throw in a bit of an extra. I've been slowly chipping away at a story that I can release to everyone here; as of now it's about 60% done. This is how it will begin...

Currently Untitled

Cold. You awake from your half-sleep to the biting cold. You wish you could fall back asleep...unconsciousness is preferable to the unending cold. The temperature is somewhere above 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and there is no reprieve from it. Unending. Unyielding.

Man was never meant to spend long periods of time inside a refrigerator.

You sit...

Eka's Forum Hits 9000 Topics Posted 17 years ago
I was looking at the home page and noticed that just a short while ago, ShyRanger made the 9000th topic on our forums! I was a little late for the 9000 screenshot, so here's 9001:

Cheers to the Portal!
I apologize Posted 17 years ago
I'd like to apologize for my behavior the past few months. I've been on-edge, pissing off forum members, jumping on new members, and generally being a prick. I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to anyone I've offended with the pelican dollar thingies, and I do want to apologize to sneakcoyote for ruining his entry into the Portal. Worst of all, I've done this without ever contributing anything back to the community.

I love this community, I really do - you all accepted me with open arms, and I haven't done my part in return. Things have been rather difficult for me in RL lately, and I've let it lapse over into my forum behavior. Soon, I hope I'll be back to being the happy-go-lucky dolphin that showed up here originally.

So, thanks for putting...

Class, class, class, class, work, work, sleep... Posted 17 years ago
So...last Friday I had no jobs, and today I have 2. Sweet. Both are part-time and pay between 7 and 8 per hour. Not bad for a college sophomore.

However...I think one is plotting to kill me.

I'm refereeing flag football, which I like a lot. However, it turns out that there are next to no referees for it. Which means I officiated 5 back-to-back games today, in the timespan of 6 hours.

My legs are killing me.

Oh, and I have training for my other job tomorrow. Once I'm done with that...back to more refereeing.

So...if I'm very untalkative, it's cause I have no time, not because I don't love you :) . However, I'm holding down 14 credit hours and working a total of 40 hours a week between 2 jobs, so...yeah.

Back for good! Posted 17 years ago
I have returned from the summer camp experience! Huzzah!

...huzzah? Ah well, maybe once I post something I'll get more huzzah-ed. By the way, I should have that up soon! It is all worked out in my head, and now I just have to transfer it to paper (er, digital white space). That is, after I unpack and sleep...

Mmm, sleep...that sounds wonderful right now. Anyway, I have returned, and will hopefully be logging a good deal of time in the chatrooms (I miss you all :) ). Oh, and I posted a poll in the forums, something that just popped into my head a couple of weeks ago. Preys should go answer ;) .

Anyway, it's great to be back! I hope to get back into the swing of things soon!

But first...sleep...
Back to leave again Posted 17 years ago
You remember (those that read my previous blog) that I went to work at a summer camp? Well, the training week is over.

Okay, get this.

When I was hired this year, I was the Assistant Director at the area where they teach things like camping, wilderness survival, etc. This was unsettling to me, because I never earned any of those merit badges and, frankly, I had only visited the area twice in 4 years. However, my fears were assuaged by the fact that the Area Director was quite the outdoorsman. When I met him at the Director's weekend, I was excited to learn that he would gladly lead the Wilderness Survival overnight trip, and teach the camping skills, and do all the other stuff like that, leaving me to master the compasses for orienteering (I was quite...

Hello, I must be going! Posted 17 years ago
Damn, is it just me, or can no one else ever find that Post New Blog button? It always takes me 10 damn minutes to find the thing...

Anyway, yes, I have to leave for a bit. During the summers, I work at a summer camp in the nearby mountains (Lake George, CO, if you must know), and tomorrow is the day I leave for that. I'll be taking my lappy with me to the camp, because we have a symbiotic relationship, but I more than likely won't be able to check the Portal. You see, it's a Boy Scout camp. So I'd rather not be caught on their network looking at inappropriate material, especially something as off-the-wall as Eka's. I'm pretty sure that not only would I be fired, I might be excommunicated and maybe hung by my entrails on the flag pole (they're not the most tolerant...

Back, thanks for the hugs Posted 17 years ago
Hey all. Thanks for the hugs, it was real nice to see so many people care about me - since I'm not a contributor and a poster of average-proportions, it was cool to see some hugs. Thank you.

For those interested, I've just been going through some rough issues here at home. The issues aren't better yet, but I am, so I can now work on the first part of that.

Anyway, onto other issues...

I've changed my picture, for those that didn't notice. The one I've been using forever was actually one I "borrowed" from some poor sap's online photo album about his/her trip to Sea World. To whomever that is, I apologize. I have a new picture now (before you ask, no, not done by me, one of my very close friends painted it for me as a graduation present), so...

...well that sucked Posted 17 years ago
So, back in December of 2005, my best friend was killed in an avalanche. 3 days before Christmas, and 5 months before we were going to walk across the stage and graduate together.

That was the worst day of my life.

Today was a close second.

Anyway, just posting this not for pity, but to make sure everyone knows that if I'm not rp-ing for a while, it's not cause I disappeared or anything. Just dealing with some family issues. Family issues that really really suck.

Hugs are always nice, though.

Be back as soon as I can.
