And, after a long hiatus from such commentary, I've decided to address the topic of "Permavore" after the death of my long-standing character Trialgatha. Seems a fitting little final funeral.

“What is Permavore?” - To be clear here, Permavore refers to the idea of a created character being eaten and killed within the span of a scene with the clear statement or implication that the character is devoured, will not reform and by the choice of the predator and prey's players, that character will never be played again by the victim.

“Is this a new thing?” - No. A long standing tradition of the Eka's chat has been the fact that characters have on occasion died permanently. The earliest example of this within my own personal experience was back in 2007,...

You may all blame Deviantart for this particular discussion. Ever since appearing over there, I have re-encountered the "Broader Vore Community" beyond what is merely here at Eka's (not that this locale doesn't contain a massive chunk of that, mind you, but moving on...), which has caused me to encounter one of those curious quirks in the midst of discussions about "What do you like in Vore?" After a few narrow escapes from engaging in shouting matches with a few people over the legitimacy of calling X variety of vore "Stupid" (Those familiar with me know I'm not a particular fan of insulting other people's preferences within the kink, even if I don't share them.), I noticed that I was recalling something about my own preferences, which led to this...

I'll bet you thought these reflections were basically done, and that I had said my peace. Not quite yet. Now, bear in mind that this one is not me being angry, so much as curious. So, take this with the grain of salt that says I am not judging anyone in particular, so much as I am … slightly confused.

A curious occurrence has been noticeable at times to me. I will see a commissioned piece of art presented by one of the many artists here, with a relatively clear reference that it was a piece requested by someone else and that the character involved is their property. Reflection #9 should be, in no way shape or form construed as an accusation against others, or a commentary that is specifically negative in intent towards other people. This is, in fact, even more than #8 a reflection upon my own perspectives. As a few of my respondants on #8 indicated quite well, attitudes and reasons for coming to Eka's vary, and some treat this place differently than I do, which is to an extent quite acceptable, and even to be lauded at points.

So, take this one with a nice heaping helping of salt. It reflects less upon bad things about others, and more upon a sort of curious perspective I have on offers to RP. It might even explain to some people one of the reasons why I am not necessarily interested in RP'ing with them, even though they sometimes...

Reflection #8 takes a slightly different tone, as it hints at and considers a habit that I encounter locally in the chat rooms on frequent occasions, frequently in blogs, and in addition quite often on the boards as well. It harkens back to my prior conversations on the subject of privacy, but it only barely grazes these topics.

There is, however, a slight caveat needed at this point. An old saying from some dead carpenter goes "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Words to live by under most circumstances. This is a particular issue I've participated in myself, and so I wish to be somewhat careful in addressing it, lest the hypocrisy be a touch too ranklesome. Reflection #7, unlike the general tone of its predecessors, is not entirely negative. It really is just that, a reflection, a consideration and an exposition on a topic observed frequently in Eka's Chat. There will be commentary and advice, but the first segment of this discourse will focus, instead of upon the negative, upon the potential positives present in a type of behavior.

Reflection #6 is thankfully far less filled with bile than #5 was. However, it is no less controversial, because it brings us right back to the "respect of other's kinks" topic that I have hammered at repeatedly in previous reflections, but it does so in an arena that is not considered in quite the same light in public arguments.

Reflection #5 comes with a slightly greater personal feel to it, as it is one that has reached me at a personal level more often than the prior discussions. It is as much an observation of what I have seen done to others as it is an observation of my own personal experiences at Eka's. However, it includes more than a little of that slightly visceral sense that can only happen when someone has personally angered you somehow.
