An unexpected surge of nostalgia spurred me to go back and reread the originals, and then to brainstorm what I would've done differently, and before I know it "Stupid Shit Jess' Done" has over a thousand new words in it. When I abandoned the series two years ago, mostly because of my anxieties about how "Methodical" turned out, I genuinely thought this series would need a page-one rewrite, but I was pleasantly surprised by how easily editing came to me. It's amazing what some distance (and regularly remembering to take my antidepressants) can do.

In terms of what changes you can expect, at least for the first story: more in-depth cooking, more sensory details, and--most important to me, a person who loves when porn has plot--a firmer tracking of Tracy's...

The simple fact is that I've come to think a lot of what I've written hasn't been very good and I'm hard pressed to find reasons to expand on it.

I mean, I haven't been inundated with complaints and critiques. Everyone's been very nice. But, neurotic that I am, it's hard for me to go back and reread these without spotting the flaws, and as more time passes between installments I need to be rereading to find my place in the plot. And then I'm like "if I write more of this, all this stuff I don't like is glued to newer, better stuff, forever." And that's a problem especially because I wanna do trans stuff and trans-affirming stuff and frankly, I did Leigh dirty. And now that's gonna be there forever.

So it's probable that story won't get finished....

Writing it has just been really hard. Sorry!

Putting this here basically for my own personal edification, though obviously if it helps any confused readers that's a benefit. Updates as events warrant.

Before "Stupid Shit Jess' Done":
- XY years before: Pops Fontaine either founds or usurps control over a fantastically powerful and top-secret society of cannibals.
- XX years before: Hank Jones begins inventing a number of wonderful machines for cooking human beings alive.
- 27 years before: Joan Fontaine is born to Pops and an as-of-yet unidentified mother.
- 25 years before: Tracy Everett is born. Jess Fontaine is born to Pops and an as-of-yet unidentified mother.
- 20 years before: Tracy and Jess, age 5, meet for the first time, and begin a lifelong friendship.
- 09 years...

I think most of my readers are smart enough to know that the sprint couldn't continue forever. Rest assured, I am working on new stuff, including an assortment of non-Tracy and Jess pieces set in different worlds.

In the meantime, I dunno if Tracy and Jess #5 got lost in the shuffle of Labor Day or if, as I feared, getting a dude involved turned folks off. But it's a thing that exists! Go read it!

So! I seem to have amassed a little bit of a following on these stories, and I'd like to check in on something before I write the next one.

I recognize that, on top of being a coherent narrative about characters with inner lives, these are also fetish stories, and it'd be weird of me to drop something in the middle that might be a turnoff for some. I've had a whopping three non-female characters in the story, none of whom have gotten actively, visibly involved in vore stuff. This isn't because I don't want to get other genders involved, but because the first story was all ladies, and I didn't want to risk alienating anyone who liked that aspect. There probably won't ever be a story with no ladies involved at all, but I'd like to try my shot at more varied prey and maybe even...
