'Come on guys! Cant you take a joke?? Guys? Do.. Do you even speak common?'
-Gloria of frostholm.
Gloria took a mission to wipe out a small group of ant-people that had been stealing away farm-girls from their homes.
It turns out that jumping out and shouting 'I will end you foul beasts!' with no back-up is not the best way to fight experienced people-hunters.
Oops! Better luck next time Gloria.
Fun fact:
The ant-people are known as great chefs.
Even the ones that dont like eating people need to agree that 'adventurer-roast glazed with lila-berry' is a great dish.
Secretly dealing with them is the reason that many taverns will not tell you about what meat they use in their stew.

Oh well, she chose her fate. It’s not a baddest option to leave, to be honest, in the end, you can be sure that you will turn out delicious :3

It is surely better then getting cooked by somebody who does not know what they are doing.

Ogres for example... If you have to choose, it’s better to be ants -_-"

"Secretly dealing with them is the reason that many taverns will not tell you about what meat they use in their stew."
Oh no! The Tavern owners are practically tricking their customers into cannibalism! :O
It would only be a matter of time before they upgrade from adventurer stew to full adventurer roasts. Hopefully the patrons would be on board with this after they find out what (or rather, who) they are actually eating.
Some might be horrified and put up a fight about it, but all that would accomplish is putting these rebellious adventurers on the menu. X3
Though along with serving adventurer stew to the ignorant masses, maybe behind closed doors the Tavern owners feast on a piece of recognizable adventurer meat that didn't go to the pot. Like a thigh and leg drum stick, nibbling on hands or feet, or if they are lucky a pussy fillet. ;)

It even creates jobs in the ant-economy. They are used to dealing with humans.
So the tavern-owners might hire them to deal with the ones that fight.
And why stop with only adventurers? There are many people that could.. Dissappear.. Without many noticing.
I see the start of a full industry!

Exactly. ;)
Just don't go through the female population too fast. Gotta keep the human population (and thus more meat) going. X3
Though Gloria might just have to get used to being someone's cooked dinner rather than an adventurer from now on. Whether it is being eaten by Ant-People, Ogres, Goblins or even her own kind. :D
Shoot now I can't help but picture a Tavern waiter or waitress carrying a platter of a fully roasted Gloria being served to a party of (mostly male) adventurers. Maybe with other unlucky female adventurers being carried around or dug in at the background. ;3

You'd think the Taverns would be selling human stews with that description, but no, it's far less sinister: The ants already don't have enough of us to go around for themselves; They're selling them Ant meat.
Wars with other colonies produces a *lot* of bodies, so the butcher ants are always busy, and the stockpiles overflowing, so they're happy to trade away the stuff before it rots. And, well, turns out ant meat is just the right kind of soft and juicy when boiled for a drunk person to eat with ease, and they'll gobble it down happily so long as you just don't say it's bug meat.
Nothing sinister with the stew, just some smart marketing to keep the drunks around longer.
The sinister part is that the taverns pay the ants *with* those drunks.
Lore speculation aside, love the designs of these ladies! Very fun ant-people designs, especially with the tribal markings. The exoskeletons especially look great, look like the perfect mix of skin and armor, perfect for a bug girl.
Wouldn't mind seeing an anteater special with a few of the lovely lasses laid out like kebabs in the future~
For now, though, I can appreciate their taste in meats and sauces, sweet and savory go so well together, and I can't help but mimic the left Ant's reaction with a recipe like this~
I'm sure Gloria will have far better luck next time, her strategy is flawless and this was clearly a fluke...

Gloria allways wins! (Except for the times that she does not.)
I like your version of the lore. It is much more similar to real ants then how I imagined it.
In truth I did not think about the ants gender at all..
And in truth the markings were mostly to make them look less like araleans with diffrent helmets ha ha!

To be fair, Hive Insects probably wouldn't have much of a concept of gender anyways, considering they pretty much only got the one. So not really considering a gender for them also makes sense. Drones arn't really common enough to be considered anything more then just another specialization of ant, ala worker or soldier or Queen. (Or Door-head, if you're a particularly unfortunate Ant...)
Though, this does actually give me a bit of a fun concept to toss out; maybe the reason the ants here are only kidnapping farm girls is because they think they're the human equivalent of worker ants. They don't understand the concept of sexual dimorphism and are applying ant-logic to us, like we do to them.
And maybe Gloria is accidentally giving them a crash course in human anatomy here; she's showing them firsthand that "Soldier" humans and "Worker" humans don't actually have differing body types, and in a few hours, she'll show them they don't taste any worse either. Which would likely inspire the ants to be less selective in their future raids and just kidnap everyone in the homes, since they'll all taste delicious~
So her little stunt here just made everything *so much worse.*
Truly, Gloria always exceeds expectations wherever she goes!

It would be a very typical 'Gloria-move' to make the ants expand their pallet.

Truly, nature is incredible. Just compare the ant-people of this particular colony with their counterparts of the eastern steppes, who have evolved equally sophisticated but distinctly unique survival strategies cooperative with their local humans!
The eastern ant-people will serve as protectors and providers for human villages, assisting their human counterparts with hunting, farming and foraging in exchange for access to the precious nectars secreted by human females. So remarkably intertwined are the two societies that the bust sizes of eastern humanoid races trend markedly above the continental average, while western drones are able to produce a sort of purplish ’honey’ which can induce lactation and strong arousal in non-pregnant, non-nursing mammalian females who consume it.
Of course, the peak of this ‘productive period’ in human women is relatively short, tending to last only from their early twenties to their mid-thirties. Fortunately, the ant-peoples’ hives are also in steady need of protein-rich foodstuffs, and amongst human settlements in the region birth rates are high enough and child mortality rates low enough to ensure that this mutually beneficial partnership remains sustainable. The culinary traditions of the eastern hives are no less phenomenal than their western kin, and their dishes no less meticulously prepared. If one should have opportunity to visit the region, it would be nearly a crime against their own palate to pass up the opportunity to sample a dish of roast corn-fed farmgirl, gently shepherded to and through peak arousal then lovingly simmered in her own butter.
