You and your fellow squad of gendarmes were given a simple task: find out what happened to adventurers on the far reaches of Fontein. This part of the land was not that well patrolled, and because of that, a few disappearances that happened here before still can't be solved. But the last case, involving a party of three well-known adventurers, simply could not be ignored, and, as such, the first request that was sent to the National Gendarmerie by the Adventurers Guild was immediately noted, and your squad was dispatched.

It was supposed to be a simple task. Instead, half of your squad were injured and beaten up by monsters, not even an hour after arriving. You were forced to put up a temporary camp for all who were injured. Yet, staying in one place was unacceptable, and while others were treating the injured, you and other gendarme were sent ahead with a scout mission. And this was actually a great opportunity for you, as this other gendarme was a girl you were trying to propose to for a long time. She was pretty, tall, and confident, but at the same time strict and demanding—but in a good way! You were sure that, in the future, she would become a great officer. Unlike others, who were mostly questioning why a girl with such an impressive figure as hers decided to become a gendarme instead of a model or actress, you honestly were happy that she chose the same profession as you.

And here are the two of you, alone on a scout mission, sharing one flask of water and one pot of food. From this moment on, the mission proceeded as smoothly as possible. You reached the potential place where adventurers were reported to be seen last time. Soon you found tattered clothes and half-melted swords with emblems of the Adventurers Guild. There was no other trace of the disappeared adventurers, but even this evidence was enough for your companion to come to the conclusion that this group ended up in the stomach of a monster or a powerful bandit. It was pointless to look for them now, since they had most likely been digested.Nodding and agreeing with her conclusions, you were about to turn around to return to the camp with a report... And then you saw her. Standing atop the hill, just looking at you with her weird eyes. Fatui harbinger in flesh.

At first, you were about to greet her and ask a few questions because, despite her terrible reputation, this woman was still a citizen of Fontaine. Your companion was a lot wiser than you, and she shouted for you to run, right before the creepy woman raised her weapon. Realizing that she was not an opponent that you could defeat even when together, you tried to escape... But the Fatui woman was not in the mood to let the two of you go. In just one leap, she was on you, literally as you felt her heels standing on your shoulders. Your companion quickly took aim with her musket at Fatui, but it was in vain. With a smug laugh, Fatui kicked the musket out of her hands and jumped forward, the force of her legs sending you on a quick flight towards the nearest tree. The collision almost knocked the wind out of you, but you came to your senses pretty quickly, ready to rush to the aid of your partner. Yet it was too late. You didn't see it, but Fatui jumped forward with her mouth wide open, right onto your terrified partner.

That's why, when you looked at her again, you saw the butt and kicking legs of your partner in her mouth. You couldn't move, too terrified by the scene in front of your eyes, to do something, and this gave Fatui just enough time to fully send your partner down her throat with a few well-measured and precise swallows, all the while looking directly at you. The last and especially loud gulp sealed the fate of the girl you were in love with for the past year, sending her body to curl up inside Fatui's incredibly tight stomach.Your breath caught in your throat. You could see every detail of the girl you loved struggling in that tight, gurgling prison of Fatui's stomach. Despair has seized your heart. There was still time before digestion would begin, so you rushed towards the Fatui with only your trusted epee in hand, ready to cut your beloved out of this monster's gut.

But, of course, your meager strength wasn’t enough. A terrifying woman, even with a full stomach, gracefully avoided all your attacks and, with only one punch, sent your weapon flying and you on your ass into the dirt under her feet. Now stomach with your beloved was right in front of your face, her struggling form still solid, giving you hope... That hope was immediately snuffed out as Fatui flexed her stomach muscles, fixing her prey in one uncomfortably tight position. She let out a very loud, prolonged belch, after which the tattered, saliva-soaked jacket of your partner fell right in front of you with loud splat.

Fatui smiled at you, clearly enjoying the terror on your face. Yet her relaxed pose and smug expression made you realize not only that you can't defeat her but also that your beloved partner was just the first meal of the day for her. While you were second.
