The ocean water felt refreshing as it lapped at her feet. It was little wonder what with this dreadful heat. Without hesitation, she jumped into the waters. It was beautiful and much less crowded than the limited swimming spaces of the city.
Seriously, as long as you keep to the shallow parts, what real danger could there really be? Besides, she’d rather take such a small risk than share the limited space with countless others desperate for a refreshing dip in the water. The peaceful atmosphere of the wild ocean was unparalleled in her mind and she simply let herself get lost in the endless blue.

The quiet was suddenly interrupted by a clicking sound that was quickly getting closer. After a small moment of panic, she relaxed again as she saw that it was just a small pod of dolphins that approached her playfully. There even was a baby! Their calls and playful bumps against her were delightful.
How adorable! I didn’t expect to see dolphins today! She thought.

Come to think of it, why aren’t there any other animals aroun- her thinking was interrupted as the playful bumps from the dolphins became much more forceful. They kept pushing her further out to sea all while their clicking slowly seemed like cruel laughter. After one particularly strong push, she found herself swimming over something dark and dotted. She quickly tried to get her bearings and realised what she was seeing. Just a split second before being flung into the air, she managed to turn her head and meet the creature’s eyes.

A mermaid…
