She thinks that's all an imp is for, though, like a condom or a chew toy. You have your fun with them, then digest them for your own sustenance. It hasn't occurred to her that any respectable demon might be willing to see a lowly imp as an acceptable thing to love, it's denigrating to one's status. Aaaaand given how Tina was being so distant about the "love" question at the start of this comic, it was a detail that she's been struggling with too. She only just swallowed her pride and declared her love of Aamon right after rescuing him, and that was when she was pressured into it.

I often see people commenting on James's comics while projecting their own feelings, but I think we should probably thank Big Mama. She not only helped Aamon through his doubt, but also gave Tina a chance to realize what the feelings were that she actually held. I think that without this moment, she might have continued to be evasive and something worse could have happened!

Did she forget that Aamon houses a powerful demon that she not only couldn’t defeat herself, but she actually RECOGNIZED when he almost lost his shit on her earlier…? And this “little im has been containing this demon with an alarmingly iron grip?

Like, it’s LITERALLY why she bothered to sit and listen to his plight in the first place. That kind of feels plot-holey to me that she’d see him control a power not even THEY could and still calls him an “insignificant imp”…

Regardless, interesting turn having her be emotionally manipulative instead of outrightly angry. You’ve been setting her up as something powerful the whole comic, so it was a fun little rug-pull.

something tells me those tears are fake. emotional manipulation and playing the victim are favored tactics of abusers. if i were tina, i would keep my guard up.
