Evelyn's Ghastly Ways By JessicaRae -- Report

Commissioned by  Dredgone featuring his Evelyn Ghast. ^w^

And here is a story to enjoy with it. >w< Happy Halloween! OwO

--
It was Halloween, and the air was crisp with the scent of fallen leaves and the distant laughter of trick-or-treaters. Jess, a curvy brunette, lived in a small town where tales of haunted houses and ghostly apparitions were as common as the changing seasons. Among these tales, one particularly chilling rumor circulated—the rickety old mansion on the outskirts of town, abandoned for years, was said to be cursed. Locals whispered about people who had gone missing after venturing inside, though these stories were often dismissed as nothing more than the overactive imaginations of bored teenagers.

But this October, something changed. Panic spread through the town when a group of college students claimed that one of their friends had gone into the mansion and never came out. The police conducted a daytime investigation, scouring the dilapidated house for any signs of foul play, but they found nothing. No lurking madman, no sinister evidence—just dust and shadows. The authorities assured everyone that there was no cause for alarm, but unease settled over the town like a dark cloud.

Jess had no interest in these spooky stories. Her mind was on more practical matters, like managing the never-ending stream of trick-or-treaters knocking on her door. Her cat, Gibby Kitty, however, was less tolerant of the constant commotion. The moment the doorbell rang for the umpteenth time, Gibby bolted. The gray tabby shot out of the house like a furry bullet, disappearing into the night. Jess cursed under her breath as she grabbed her jacket and followed in pursuit, muttering about how her normally aloof cat had suddenly developed a penchant for dramatic escapes.

The chase led her through the dense trees that bordered her neighborhood, her footsteps crunching on the fallen leaves. The night was eerily quiet, save for the occasional distant laugh or the rustle of wind through the branches. Jess’s irritation grew with each step, especially when she saw where Gibby was headed. Her heart sank as the outline of the rickety old mansion came into view. The last place she wanted to be on Halloween was that creepy old house, but she had no choice. Gibby had slipped through the cracked door, and Jess, groaning inwardly, had to go in after him.

“Of course,” she muttered to herself, her voice tinged with sarcasm as she stepped inside. “He’d go into the one place I wouldn’t want him to go. Well… not the one place, but still.”

The mansion’s interior was just as she imagined—dark, cold, and filled with the oppressive silence of a place long forgotten by time. The only light came from the pale moon, casting eerie shadows through the broken windows. Jess called out for her cat, her voice echoing off the crumbling walls.

“Gibby? Gibby?”

A soft meow answered her from somewhere deeper inside the mansion. Jess sighed in relief, envisioning a quick exit and a night spent curled up on the couch with her wayward cat. As she moved deeper into the house, though, something caught her eye—a faint, flickering glow coming from a hallway ahead. She approached cautiously, her footsteps hesitant as she turned the corner.

The glow came from a small flashlight lying on the ground, its beam weak and unsteady. Beside it was a ghost costume, the kind sold in every department store this time of year, but it was covered in a sickly green slime. Jess recoiled at the sight, wrinkling her nose in disgust. She bent down to examine the costume, wondering if it belonged to one of the missing teens. Perhaps they had been hiding here, scared out of their wits by the very rumors they had once laughed at.

Before she could contemplate further, a cold shiver ran down her spine. She looked up, and her breath caught in her throat. There, slipping through the wall with an eerie grace, was a ghost—a real one. Its translucent form shimmered in the dim light, and before Jess could react, it moved towards her with terrifying speed. A scream ripped from her throat as the ghost’s slimy, green maw opened wide and swallowed her legs first.

The world tilted, and Jess felt herself being enveloped by the ghost’s cold, clammy insides. The green slime that coated the ghost’s mouth now covered her, making her skin crawl. She struggled, kicking and pushing against the ghost’s insides, but it was no use. The creature’s throat constricted around her, dragging her deeper into its belly. Panic surged through her, her mind racing with a mix of disbelief and terror. How could this be happening? How could a ghost—a creature she’d always believed to be mere legend—be eating her alive?

The ghost’s stomach was a grotesque parody of the human digestive system. It squelched and gurgled as Jess landed inside, the walls closing in around her. The faint light of the outside world was still visible, but it was distorted, as if she were looking through a fogged window. Jess could see the mansion’s decaying interior, but she couldn’t touch it. She was trapped, encased in the ghost’s slimy, spectral flesh.

From somewhere above her, the ghost’s voice echoed, cold and mocking. “Now you get to stay with me forever… or until I get bored.”

Jess’s heart pounded in her chest as she pressed against the ghost’s stomach walls, desperate to escape. Her mind raced, searching for a way out, but nothing made sense. How could she fight something that wasn’t even solid? Her strength waned as the reality of her situation settled in. She was at the mercy of a creature that defied all logic, all reason.

And so, there she remained, trapped within the ghost’s stomach, hoping against hope that it would tire of her soon. But as the minutes stretched into eternity, Jess could only wonder if she would ever see the light of day again.

This always brings up the question. What happens if the ghost tries going through a wall?
