As Halloween creeps away yet again, time for the annual silly 'thank you'/gift art to Aesir for another excellent marathon of Drawlloween days this year. This year's special guest (meal) is
Dehla ...uh...I guess you're getting eaten TWICE today. ;)
With this (apparently) being the last year with movies and the current format for awhile (change is good :) ), a theme of the 'end of spooky movies' plus some ghost girl fun (from this year's logo) seemed like a nice fit. And tiny bit of 90s flair...
...
The parties are over, the trick or treaters have stopped knocking on the door (though perhaps they're still knocking on stomach walls :P ). It's always fun to gather up around the TV and see off the end of Halloween by watching a few late scary movies with friends. Turn down the lights, throw a rental tape of your fave into the VCR (yes, deliberately dating myself here ;) ) and relax/get spooked as you cuddle on the couch with pals, maybe chewing on popcorn.
But Halloween technically isn't over yet...
The Martian girl, Shelly and a still costumed Dehla huddle together, eyes fixated on the pale glowing hues showing a very scary flick. The eerie music builds up as a static-y image of a well appears on screen. The crimson-tressed alien leans forward, nervously munching on popcorn and uneasily squeezes her spiked tail, while the latter two gasp and clinch each other in scared anticipation...Shelly nervously chewing on the elf's ear. A hand creeps out of the well...tension near crescendo...
BOO!
The ending of the movie is suddenly interrupted by a shimmering spirit surging through the TV pulling a Halloween prank. Reiko squeals as she pops up in front of the others with her arms extended.
The Martian girl sends the bowl of popcorn flying and dives over the hand rest, covering her head. Her tail whips back and forth among the kernels scattered under the couch. Shelly eeps and falls backward over the seat, then nervously pops her head back up to look.
Dehla, on the other hand, was so frozen with fear at the jump scare that she couldn't move...
...at least, not until she was nearly halfway 'into' the second part of Reiko's prank.
Unfortunately, the credits on the movie were rolling by the time anyone has the mind to focus back on the TV. :(
-----
Design apologies...
First off, really hope it's not too out of character for the two Drwl girls on the couch with Dehla (ended up being their choice as no one really stood out for this type of scene reaction) to have a minor freak out at a horror film/jump scare combo. Hopefully it's not too over-the-top, particularly for the alien girl. ;)
The Martian/Alien girl probably should be quite a bit larger compared to the others (though technically NEs like Dehla are TALL) and I also kinda went half-n-half on the outfit (hard to find refs and she's nude half the time...so, eh, dressing down a bit here).
Also...eh...should she have been sitting on the popcorn bowl or is that too tasteless? :P
Shelly, well, I do like how she came out on the other hand ('adorably monstrous'...plus I love the ear-nibbling). ;)
Also, ah, I started this early (prior to her pic this year), so Reiko's design isn't the updated one with the undershirt, sorry about that.
...
You know what, it's the 10th year of Drawlloween, so there will be a SECOND gift art to commemorate in a day or two. You might notice a little loose end detail in this one, if you're keen. ;)

Shout-outs:
Aesir - For (hopefully tolerable) use of his characters Reiko, Shelly and the Martian/Alien Girl. Congrats and thanks again for putting together another amazing marathon of art, movies and overall fun. It's astounding how you pull this off each year (and I can definitely understand the need for a change). Now get some rest. ^^
Dehla - For use of Dehla (the character). Thanks for all the feedback/opinions on pics this year using your character and I hope the renditions of her were enjoyable. Apologies for all the bugging though. :P
Happy Halloween everyone. ^^

Thank you too. ^^ As I've said before, I just love the design of your OC and it's quite fun to draw her up (no matter what role). Hope it was close enough. ^^

No need to apologize for anything! Ya I added the undershirt this year as a way to break up Reiko's colors a bit more, make her less monotone.
I appreciate the gesture and the art!! Happy Halloween!!

Understandable by far. And yeah, the undershirt addition does help out with her design a bit (the pale skin with the mostly white dress previously, although I do think the red collar/cuffs do a good job 'separating colors'). Plus it's cuter. ;)
Very welcome and congrats on making it through another challenge month. ^^
Heh, there'll be a clearer (pun intended) bit of Reiko fun still to come...
