Seeing a lamia mention eating someone makes it seem natural for a vore scene to happen. It helps that I really like lamias.

Of course the echidnas would win the toughness contest. They are rougher than the rest of them, the best of them, tougher than leather.
Fun story. Miia proved once again to be a pretty fun prey. And her and Kimihito melting together inside a tougher lamia... that's a great scenario for multiple reasons.

The tournament is only half about toughness. Enduring an assault by people is one half and the other is interacting with those people intimately. The Echidnas didn't want to do the second part, because they are into much stronger men that Kimihito is not. They would inevitably win as long as their man pleases more women than the other candidates, assuming they aren't disqualified for digesting a candidate.
I put Miia in there because there are so many things that happen out of 'convenience' in the manga that it seemed plausible she would appear just at the right moment to be eaten. They also have get intimate in there because that is completely in character for her to do.

I was mostly memeing with that first paragraph - the tribe name and their culture reminded me of Knuckles the Echidna, so I quoted the lyrics of his theme song about being tough. Maybe the Echidnas' husband has a similar personality.
And yea, it sounds like this tribe get-together requires a lot of implicit trust or it'll go sideways. What if the other chieftess refuses to believe Miia was eaten willingly?
And yeah, the story sounds plausible. I know that Monster Musume has its moments running on anime logic and plot convenience, but Miia being clingy enough that she'll follow Kimihito in the tent and then inside a belly sounds believable from what I know of her.

Their husband appears in only a few chapters, so it's unclear what he acts like.
It didn't end up making it into the story because I thought it was a bit too convenient, but I had an idea for Miia's mother showing up and being upset that her daughter was eaten, even if it may have been willingly. The Echidna would then give two of her members as compensation and the mother would eat them both.
The event does require a lot of trust. It's unclear what all the rules are, besides there being one that causes the Melusines to be disqualified several times due to forcing themselves on the men.
