Stage 1: Freshy eaten, the torso expands to accommodate the prey. The bloat peaks around the bottom of the ribs, or just below them. The digestive system is inactive for the most part, but soon “wakes up”. The prey struggles the most at this point, but because of the way the ribs block them the visible struggling externally looks like very light chest expansion.
