Zelos's Cruelty
        
A young Pokémon trainer, Shrike, remembered one specific day all too well; although if anyone were to ask him about it he would insist it had never happened. Not because he wanted to hide it from the world, but because he wanted to hide it from himself; the event that happened on that day that no Pokémon Trainer should be forced to endure.

Birds chirped overhead, flitting from tree to tree as their harmonious voices filled the air. In chorus their transient yet eternal sounds cascaded down to the earth below, finding an audience in a human passing beneath the trees. The human paused and looked up at the birds, smiling and closing his eyes as he bathed in their sound.
