The following story is not complete, and I apologize for the abrupt ending. I would have continued it on ficlets.com by now, but my Ficlets OpenID login ceased to work and I was no longer able to access the site.


I might eventually continue it here, or I might see if some kind of “neo-Ficlets” site rises from the ashes after ficlets.com shuts down. I'll just have to wait and see.
