Just a brief scene, but very effective. It makes it easy to picture the wider setting, merely through a glimpse of one moment.

Thanks. This story was meant to only be written in 500 words or less. I think I went over the word count. This was for a class I'm in. Believe it or not, I didn't get a good grade on it like my other stories I turned in.

Yup. The exercise I was supposed to do an interrogation. The professor thought that it wasn't much of an interrogation enough. Go figure.

In 500 words, I don't see how you could have written a more detailed interrogation without sacrificing context and perspective...
