Curious as to what program you used to draw this.
The blurring around some parts of the image put me off quite a lot, and I cannot understand why they're there. The concept is really well done, but the outcome is a little confusing. Maybe some light and shadow in there, would really bring it out some more.
Either way, I like the concept :)

I used GIMP for this picture. I think I used the blur tool in an effort to make the wood/woman parts blend. Might have a slight habit of using it a bit much I guess.
Thank you anyway.

Gimp has Transparencies, I would suggest using them a little bit, colour the hand in a deep wood colour, and the skin tone what you would like, then get that wood colour of the hands and make the brush 20%. Then run the brush slowly from the hand up a little bit, do this repeatedly, and you'll end up with an effect like the wood is merging with the skin.
And example if this is in the Death Trap naga on my Deviantart Account. Here's a link if you're interested in seeign what I mean. What I am referring to is between the Green of the Tail, and the Skin colour: http://www.assassin-sylk.deviantart.com/#/d2y7qn1' target='_blank'>http://www.assassin-sylk.deviantart.com/#/d2y7qn1
I hope this helps a bit. I would never say to use the blur tool as a merging between two drastically different materials.. But you'll get there :)

Interesting, I`ll have to think about that for the next thing I draw.

Well alrighty then :)
Seriously. Transparencies are your friend Or layer blends.. But that's more advanced stuff, and it's not worth it, unless you really want to edit the effect later.

Wow that is a great increase in skill!
Much better lighting and blending. :)

having the outline in a seperate layer you can pull to the top helps as well- thats the only reason the blur is off putting, it touches the outlines.

I like to think that I have improved since I made this picture. This is one of my earlier pictures after all.

I just checked out your gallery for the first time dear, I wasn't looking at dates but I did notice the others were much better. I like the themes you went with too, I love mermaids and evil ladies in red (in case you hadn't noticed that last bit yet ;) )
