Angelissa and the Dragon
A vorish angel story.
by Angel
Angelissa floated lazily through the air, beating her wings slowly, enjoying
the combination of the warm sun and cool air on her exposed skin. She wore
nothing more than her usual white robe, but nobody noticed her nearly naked
form, simply because she did not allow it.
As she flew over a mountain valley, the noise of melee drew her attention
downwards. Below she saw a large reptilian creature, over a hundred feet in
length, with bat-like wings of about half that size and its entire body
covered with golden scales, shining in the sun. Surrounding the creature
were serveral mounted warriors wearing black armor, attacking the creature
from all sides. She realized instantly that this beautiful creature was an
ancient gold dragon, a race known for their kindness and wisdom, and her anger
rose quickly as she saw that such a benevolent creature was about to be
killed. The dragon still defended itself with mighty spouts of blue flame,
but they came from all sides and he was already hurt badly.
Thunder rumbled as Angelissa's anger rose to its peak, and suddenly lightning
flashed, a massive bolt striking a knight just as he was about to deliver a
killing blow. The bolt then leapt to the next knight, and again and again,
until all of them were being electrocuted at once, without hurting the dragon
any further. The stench of burned flesh and molten metal mixed with the scent
of ozone as she gracefully landed near the dragon.
The dragon peered at her with interest, "Thank you, beautiful spirit from the
heavens... What is your name?" She smiled, "Angelissa. Don't move now. You're
hurt pretty bad..." She approached and touched a wound, which vanished
instantly. The dragon let her have her way, and she worked her magic on all
his wounds, healing them all. Then she rested against his side, "There you go.
You look much better this way..."
The ancient dragon nodded, with what seems to be a sad smile, "Thank you for
your kindness, Angelissa, but I am afraid it is no use. I have internal
injuries, and have also lost a lot of blood... I will not live long..."
Angelissa smiled in return, "I don't give up that easily. Open wide, maybe
I can still help..." The dragon looked a bit surprised at her, but opened his
maw wide, his sharp teeth glinting. Angelissa peered inside, "I can see the
wounds, but they're pretty deep... Maybe if I crawled in, I could reach it..."
The dragon stared at her, "Angelissa, if you went in that far, I doubt you
would be able to get back..." She thought about that for a while, then
suddenly smiled, "Well... You need some good food anyway to recover fully...
so just swallow me then." The dragon blinked several times, hardly believing
what he heard, "You would really do that? Sacrifice yourself to save my life?"
Angelissa nodded without hesitation, taking her robe off, "Yes. I will heal
you from the inside and then provide you with nourishment so you can fully
recover." He peered at her for a long time, then finally nodded, "There can
be no doubt now. Such a noble gesture could only come from a true angel.
Thank you, I will never forget you..."
With that, he opened wide, and she carefully climbed into his maw, then began
to crawl into the narrow tunnel of his throat. She felt her wings being
folded naturally on her back as they passed the throat, and she reached out,
trying to reach the wound in the soft tunnel. "I still can't reach it.", she
said, "I'll have to go a bit deeper." His muffled voice replied, "Let me
help." She felt his slender tongue wrap around her ankles twice, then he made
a swallowing move, using the tongue to prevent her from sliding too far.
"Almost.", she said, "Just a little bit more. The dragon silently swallowed
again, lowering her a bit further. Her gentle fingers now touched the wounds,
which glowed blue and vanished. "Got it!" The tongue released her ankles, and
his muffled voice came, "Thank you Angelissa, and farewell. You are very
tasty. Go and grace my stomach with your presence." Then he tilted his head
back and took a mighty gulp. Her form was vaguely visible in the bulge that
slid down his long neck and vanished into his body. He lowered his head,
saying, "Thank you angel. You are really delicious. I will put your sweet
body to good use."
She burst into the stomach which eagerly accepted her. It was warm and tight,
but also soft and comfortable. She felt quite at ease, curled up in a fetal
position, listening to the beating of his heart. She shifted occasionally,
and eventually became drowsy and slipped into a deep sleep. Then the mighty
stomach began to churn gently, rocking her in her sleep as it applied
digestive juices to the still living lumb of food. Her sleep deepened as her
skin and flesh softened under the acid. Her wings dissolved first, soon
followed by her soft skin. Her flesh was next, and finally her bones
dissolved as well, supplying the dragon with the nutritients he needed to
recover fully. When his powerful stomach had absorbed the last bits of
Angelissa, he once more rose and took wing, to wreak havoc upon those who
had ordered his death. He would never forget her who had made it possible
through her sacrifice.
