Talon faced his opponent, baring his teeth, and growling deeply. There were several slashes across his snout, as well as his left shoulder, right arm, back, and left side. He had been fighting upwards of three hours now. He was exausted. He didn’t understand his opponent’s abilities all that well. Somehow, this....cat had managed to seal off both Law and Chaos. He was completely on his own...and somehow, this person had been immune to most of his electrical attacks.
The cat in question, who looked something like a cross between a Russian blue, and a Siamese cat. He was an accomplished battlemage. He had sealed the two ‘others’ using a sort of warding magic. He was resisting most of the attacks due to a ‘bubble’ of protection he had up. The cat was holding a longword in one hand, using a vaguely eastern style of fighting with it. The weapon, and the cat’s claws were what had caused most of the damage to the half-dragon, though the battlemage was not without injury himself. He had the tip of his tail singed, one toe was missing from his left foot, and there were three bloody claw marks across his chest, the sluggish bleeding matting down his fur.
The ‘battlefield’ if it could be called that, was most of the downtown area of a large city. Most of it was crumbling around the two, pieces falling off here and there while fires blazed from many of the buildings. The fighting had reduced most of the city to rubble, and it’s citizens had mostly fled by now. The ones that hadn’t...can’t either from death, entrapment, or injury.
“You can’t keep this up forever, dragon.” the cat hissed, baring his teeth at Talon as the battlemage lunged forward, sword pointed at the dragon’s middle, attempting to land another hit. Talon, for his part, was ready for it this time, twisting around the sword to the right, running along the arm that held the sword to strike at the back of the cat’s head with the tips of his claws. The cat dodged, ducking under the blow, and hopping away, twisting in midair to face his opponent again.
“Your slowing down, Balen” Talon said, panting softly, and grinning at the cat. The feline hissed loudly again, and lunged forward at the half-dragon. He was caught halfway off guard, dodging clumsily to the left. Balen scored a hit to his left leg, though it was a glancing blow, the tip of the weapon just barely rending the scales open. He stumbles a bit from the hit, but gets up quickly.
“Damnit!” he said, taking in a deep breath, and exhaling a bolt of lightning at the cat. There was a bright flash, and the majority of the bolt glanced off that protective bubble, though a bit got through and singed the cat’s left ear tip.
The feline mage chuckled softly, that tail swishing back and forth softly. “Oooh...so close...” he said, teasing the half dragon. “you got my ear!” he said, cackling softly, and pointing at the singed fur at the tip of his ear. Talon knew he was in trouble. That orb absorbs most of his magical attacks..and with most of his abilities sealed off with Law and Chaos, he only had his strength and lightning to rely on.
He was tired, and the cat new it. He wanted to press the advantage. The amount of glory and recognition he’d get, if he could beat the notorious Talon Thunderstrike, as a mage...would
be endless. Balen thought he had won too, at this point. Sadly...the half-dragon had one more trick. He’d just have to knock the cat loopy for a bit, to get an opening to use it.
The red and white half-dragon decided to go with an ‘all or nothing’ kind of gamble. Disregarding his own defense, he lunged at Balen, aiming his left, balled up fist at the cat’s midsection. Luckily for him, the battlemage was caught off guard, and was hit...rather hard. The cat was knocked into the air, and back, flying a good five feet before hitting the ground again.
As soon as the hit connected, Talon started to draw in as much electricity he could ‘find’. His lightning abilities allowed him to sense and absorb lightning within a certain distance of his body. The radius was about half a mile. That...was a LOT of electricity, considering that they were in a large city.
As he gathered the energy, the air warping and crackling around him as the voltage built up. Balen was groaning softly, slowly getting to his feet. The bubble had absorbed almost all the damage, but being sent flying disoriented the cat mage a bit. As he shook off the effects of the attack, his vision snapping back into focus, he noticed Talon.
Balen, at this point, knew he was ‘screwed’ as the saying goes. The amount of energy that the half-dragon had gathered was lighting up his body like an over-charged lightbulb. The heat was too much for the battlemage to get close.
The half-dragon was gathering more and more electrical energy, though the strain of doing just that was starting to tire him out. This was his only shot. This attack...was the reason for his last name, and his nickname Talon of the Roaring Thunder.
He earned the nickname once, by taking all the power out of a huge city...and then blasting away a whole army with the attack. He passed out, for two days afterwords, however. Without Law and Chaos he could gather but a fraction of that power. He hoped it would be enough to stop that bubble the cat had. If not...he was going to die. He’d be pretty helpless after this shot.
The cat was scared, but he wasn’t giving up just yet. He wished he could drop the ‘sealing’ spell that was taxing his reserves to boost his Invulnerability Bubble, but to do that...would make him loose all the quicker. So he had to just trust his bubble, and wait. He couldn’t cast any attack spells either, due to the two he was holding now.
That’s all I can gather... the half-dragon thought. He started to sort of ‘suck’ all the power he had gathered into his maw, his throat, chest and belly swelling hugely with the amount he was pulling into himself.
Balen felt the heat lessening as he watched his opponent pull the energy into his body. It must have been a massive amount...to make one’s body physically swell outward like that. His bubble wouldn’t stop that. He’d have to charge, and see if he could disrupt the attack before Talon could use it!
The cat charged forward, thrusting his sword with a yell, trying to get to the half-dragon, and put a hole in him before the attack could be launched. However...he was two late. With a defining, hurricane-storm-roar style bellow, all the energy expelled forth from Talon’s maw, hitting the cat dead on. The bubble held for a moment, absorbing the absolute limit of what it could, before it broke apart with a smashing glass kind of sound. What was left hit the cat, making him screach from the horrible, searing pain. He was flung backwards, the energy carving out the ground underneath it, peeling away the concrete that was left after all the fighting. The cat hit a half-ruined building, and was blasted back against it for several seconds, till the energy faded away with a soft crackling noise.
Balen, though having some charred fur, and being utterly beaten and bruised, was, luckily, not dead. Talon, for his part, was on his knees, heaving loudly. He was utterly exhausted, and could barely retain consciousness. The cat couldn’t move, and actually, after a moment...passed out. Talon did too, coughing hard, and falling over, eyes shut.
Oddly enough, Balen woke up first...but he couldn’t move. Seems all the damage to his body made him unable to do much more then twitch. Talon, on the other hand, was still out, though his wounds seem to have healed. Balen wondered at this...but then remembered that when he was knocked out, the sealing spell broke. So Chaos and Law’s abilities came back. He would likely be fully healed by the time he woke up....which was right then.
His yellow eyes fly open, and he sits up. “Huh...?” he said for a moment, blinking as he faintly heard the other two voices inside his head. “Oh, your back!” he said, laughing softly. There were murmured agreements from the other two. He slowly stands up, groaning. “Oh...that’ll be sore for a while.” he said, wincing softly. “Where’s that cat...” he muttered, looking around. He grins widely, spotting Balen over by that building where he had been flung in the attack. “Hey kitty kitty....” he said, grinning evily over the paralyzed cat, his black teeth gleaming in the firelight. The sun had gone down, so those fires were all that let anyone see.
“I think you owe me something...” He said, that grin getting wider. For some reason, the cat felt VERY threatened by that statement. And soon...he found out why. The large half-dragon licks his lips slowly, and then picks up the helpless battlemage. He yawns his jaws widely, and with a sort of ‘glom’ sound, he shoves his jaws over the cat’s head, neck, shoulders, and upper chest. He moans loudly, his tongue licking over the singed fur, and the dried blood from his claw attack. He gulps softly, pulling the cat’s head into his throat with a sort of squelching noise ecoing around Balen’s ears.
The cat could do nothing really, but whine pitifully as those scaled lips move further down his furred body, with most of his clothing having been burned off in the attack, the situation seems all the worse. The half-dragon gulps hard, that squelching sound echoing around the cat more as his shoulders move into the half-dragon’s body, making him murr happily as he starts to stretch over that ‘meal.’ He gulps again, sighing happily as he stretches a little further, the cat’s lanky form being rather easy for the half-dragon to swallow down. Poor Balen was at the halfway point now, that heavy swallow having pulled the cat mage in to his waist.
Unlike Balen, Talon was enjoying every second of this, his tongue lapping, licking and tasting that cat’s body. He gulps strongly again, tilting his head back a bit, the furred mage getting pulled in to the knees, his head, neck and shoulders popping into the half-dragon’s growling belly. He pushes on the cat’s feet, swallowing heavily, and sighing, as that last bit of cat-mage vanishes into his maw.
He closes his jaws shut with a teeth clicking sound, before licking over the feetpaws slowly. He gulps loudly, the sound making the cat wimper again, as he’s forced fully down, into the half-dragon’s pudgy gut. Talon sighs happily, rubbing over his domed out gut. “Mmm...that’ll do for payment.” He said, chuckling happily. His belly gurgles softly, telling him it’s happy with the snack. He licks his lips, and sits down, his back to a ruined building. He wished the cat was well enough to squirm, but well...one can’t always get what one wants. Or so he was thinking, as he belched loudly, his gut contracting around the still living cat. Though after a few minutes, and two more loud belches, Balen passed out from lack of air. Talon sighed happily, patting his gut a few more times, rubbing over it firmly before starting to close his eyes. He was sleepy...his body needed to repair itself more, before he could move on.
