Anja's legs carried her through the woods as fast as they were able to. They burned with weariness from the exertion, but she knew she couldn't stop. More than once she stumbled, almost falling to the ground and ending the chase then and there, but she caught herself and carried on. Anja's lantern lit her way through the woods, but it's light was a blessing and a curse. For she was able to see as she charged through the woods without abandon, running into branches and snagging her clothing upon burs, but she was sure that the beast knew where she was without fail.
The beast, legend amongst her village and most of the countryside, which Anja thought she'd never see. No, the beast which Anja had prayed to never see. The stories were all the same. The beast would come out at night to the moon's light and hunt the girls who were foolish enough to stray too far from the village. Only a few of the girls in her village heeded these tales, with the rest thinking them to be nonsense. That is why Anja, and her best friend Katja, had been out this night. They had lingered in the deep end of the forest after picking wild berries.
The two had laughed and made a joke about the beast coming for them as the sun set, but the laughter was over now. Anja had watched as the beast had taken Katja. It had been upon them before either of them knew what was going on, and Anja had been knocked roughly to the ground. As she laid there helpless she saw the beast ripping off Katja's clothes and tossing them aside. It lifted her high with one mighty hand, and drew her close to it's maw as she screamed and kicked. Katja's head had been forced into it's mouth first, and Anja could see it's large tongue licking over her friend's face. Anja expected to see her friends head bitten right off, but the beast gave her a might shove instead. Katja head slipped down into the beast's throat, stretching it out in an almost obscene manner, and her shoulders pressed into it's mouth. It threw it's head back and Anja watched as Katja was swallowed up to her waist. The sight of her best friend sliding down the throat of the beast alive and kicking filled Anja with a grief and terror that could not be described, but it also filled her legs with a determination they had never know. She did not want to end this way.
A loud crash in the forest nearby brought Anja out of her dark thoughts on what had just transpired. Then she heard the howl. The beast was letting loose a howl almost as if to let her know it was there. She turned to look behind her for only a moment. She just wanted to see if it was behind her, but as she turned back around she caught it's eyes. The beast had gotten ahead of her and her legs, as determined as they were to carry her forward, carried her right up to it before she knew to stop. It's strike lifted her up off the ground and flung the lantern from her hand. It struck itself upon a rock nearby, and hot flaming oil spread upon the ground giving light to what Anja did not want to see. The beast came down towards her licking it's lips, and she could see the vague form of her friend bloating out it's middle. As it moved in to take her Anja saw the moon over it's shoulder. Overhead shining so brightly down on the world. A light that brought nothing but misery wherever it shone. She cursed it inwardly, and then her vision only knew darkness.
Don't blame the moon Anja, or it's bright white glow.
It doesn't sway the passions or the feelings that we know.

... Ok, so yeah. Tried my hand at writing something to go with this picture. A lot longer than I expected to make it, and probably utter rubbish. XD
Anyway, gnarly scene picture involving none other than me. Drake. The big bad dire wolf-man. Very happy with the menacing nature of this picture. The want of this picture also came from a song. This one in fact: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzYQxIE8rKk Very beautiful tune, and it's right.
The idea of hunting down your prey is a beautiful thing. Might have to get a comic done of that... Hmmm. Maybe find some lady out there to costar in a comic with them being hunted. Tell ya what, if you've actually read everything up to this part (Bravo XD), and are a female prey that likes to be hunted give a shout out here and if I do get a comic done like that then it'll give you a shot at being in it with big old Drake. ;)
This piece of art was all done up by Goldenphoenix101 who was a real good sport in doing something like this for me.
