In the wake

that Ani returned to the world, but to the superpowered factions of

decade later, little had changed in the world as Mindbender still
roamed free and was still trying to get her hands on Ani yet again.
She even used the anger the populace had over Ani being imprisoned
because she was suspected of being the Grey Mask to create a New
World Order Revolution with people all believing they were trying to
free Ani from the oppressive superheroes. Of course, the NWOR
organization was not alone in trying to free the Grey Mask

Upon
appearing in the space station, both Firestar and Ani were confronted
by the heroes that protected the satellite. After some initial
confusion over what was happening, the pair learned that they were
just going to checked for subliminal commands that might have been
left over by Mindbender. Going into the testing room, both girls
showed no signs of being programed to do anything for Mindbender and
were released.

– A Chance Discovery
After
celebrating her graduation from being a sidekick to being a hero, Ani
was more than glad to hit the sack with Firestar. During the night
however, Firestar woke up and went to use the restroom since she had
made the mistake of not going before bed. When she returned, Firestar
discovered to her horror that Ani was gone and started to worry about
Ani's safety.

Hearing her
alarm clock blare, Firestar groaned unhappily as she had been right
in the middle of the most wonderful dream. Sitting up, she irritably
punched the specially crafted alarm clock to turn the noisy thing off
since that was how the hero who created the device knew Firestar
would turn off the alarm. The indestructible alarm clock flew across
the room and landed in Ani's bed, which jolted Firestar awake as she
got out of bed to go apologize to her

quietly in bed, Ani was overcome with fear as she began to think
about what she had seen happen in her last nightmare, but then she
