The chiiname are known for their incredibly lengthy and flexible tongues, which are very nearly prehensile, able to flex and curl and coil. Elie however is only part-chiiname, primarily being a faerie; she's got the tongue length in spades, but it's not quite as flexible due to her species. Like a more human tongue, she can curl the tip upwards, or even roll her tongue and do a few other tricks, but actually wrapping or coiling her tongue around something requires a bit of assistance from her fingers and somewhat defeats the point!
In any case however, her tongue is quite strong and still very flexible, though it's mostly just flexible in comparison to a human's tongue. Curling under a tiny human and lifting them up into her mouth is quite an easy trick for her, and one she's happy to demonstrate.
