To add a little story to this scene, Ryuuko ate Nui during her battle with her in episode 18, and Satsuki either ate her mother or instead of her head being put back on Ragyo stayed dead there for ending the ordeal of the life fibers right then and there.

<3 Ryuko so much! I imagine it would be hard to digest life fibers... except for special people with certain physiological exceptions.
