BING BOOOOONG!

And so it went once again, your doorbell being rung for the... twentieth time? Yeah, twentieth sounds about right. Most other nights it would be a source of major annoyance, but tonight was special. Tonight was a night where the doorbell and the knocking were a signal for fun and merriment. Tonight was a night where children played and ghosts and witches danced.

Tonight was Halloween.

With a smile on your lips, a bowl full of candies for the little ones in hand, and the growing anticipation about what sort of creative and cute costumes this latest group had on, you went to the door and swung it wide (and with a little bit of a flourish, yourself dressed up as Count Dracula).

"Trick or treat, check my beats, give me someone good to eat!"

A blink, a wave of confusion. This... wasn't a group of children. Standing at your door is a bat. Not just any bat, either. It's your neighbor, Ruckus. Fat of form and generally friendly, the big guy generally keeps to himself... though tonight seems to be the change to the norm. One doesn't have to peer too closely to see that the bat has decided to go without a shirt, his rolls and general squishiness fully on display.

"Um... Ruckus?" you tentatively question. He smiled happily, eyes practically hidden behind his thick glasses, and held up a pumpkin bucket. Almost out of reflex, you took a handful of candy and dump it inside before you could think otherwise. "Aren't you... you know... a bit old for trick or treating?"

"Hah! Are you kidding me? I'm a bat! This holiday is practically made for me!" He lifted the bucket up, perusing his latest gains for a moment or two before giving a nod. "Oooh, nice! Trying to win over the kiddies with full-sized candy, eh?"

"Yeah, I suppose." Your earlier confusion was gone by now, unable to help yourself from seeing the big guy so happy. Simple pleasures and all that. Still, there's a point that your mind is sticking on, something that the bat had said... "Hey, Ruckus..."

"Hm?" Needless to say, he's already chomping down on a candy bar, finishing it off in record time and licking the residual chocolate from his lips.

"What was it you said earlier? Your little chant, I mean. It didn't sound right."

"Oh, that?" He grinned, a paw going down to rub over his chubby belly, pressing inwards a bit to make his fat squish. "You know I'm a DJ, right? I thought I'd change it up a bit!"

"Ah, I guess that makes sense," you said, still just as confused. "So... trick or treat... check my beats... but what about that last part?"

"Hehe! That's the best part! Give me someone good to-uuuWAAAARP- eat!"

You couldn't help wrinkling your nose a little in disgust at the sudden expulsion of gases. Ruckus hadn't even TRIED to turn away, resulting in you catching the blast full on. A sudden gurgle and what sounded like muffled words got your attention and your eyes widened in shock as.. well...

... Ruckus's belly came to life.

You could only stare as it squirmed and wriggled, bulges pressing outward from within. A paw here. A face there, muffled by fat. Was that a foot kicking out? And all the while, Ruckus just stood there with a contented smile, rubbing and squeezing over his gut as if this was the most normal thing in the world.

"Um... t-that's... er..." You're at a loss for words, to say the least. Once you could get some semblance of mental activity going, you forced a smile and gave a trembling little laugh. "Wow, Ruckus. That's a pretty great trick! I'm guessing some sort of special effects? A fake belly?"

"Nah, this is all me!" He snuck his paw down below the overhang of his belly, lifting up before letting go so it bounced and the inner contents sloshed about audibly. The squirming became more frenzied, a muffled 'mmfelp!' emanating forth. A rumble soon followed and the bat was kind enough to turn to the side this time, burping loudly again... and hacking up a slime-covered shoe. "Mmm... that one was tasty. Probably shouldn't have worn a hot dog costume. Welp, thanks for the treats!"

And like that, Ruckus tottered off, his gut still moving about. You could only stare at the retreating form, jaw slack. Fingers too, it would seem, the bowl clattering to the ground loudly. It was enough to shock you out of it, dropping to your knees to gather up the fallen candy. It just had to be some sort of trick, you assured yourself. Some sort of prosthetic, a sound machine... hell, he probably had the shoe hidden in his mouth somehow, just to freak you out.

All comforting thoughts, your mind racing to make sense of it. A scream pierced the air, not uncommon on this night, but you couldn't help but to look up... just in time to spy Ruckus mouthing over the head of a young wolf dressed up as a Kit-Kat bar. Once again, staring was all you could do as the fat bat fed the squirming cub down his gullet, neck swelling and then shrinking back down as he slurped up his latest snack. Even from here, you could catch the gurgling of his hungry stomach.

In that moment, you decided to hell with the candy, spinning around to close and lock the door behind you, turning off the light so no one else would knock.
