since at least a handful of you said you wanted to see what I've been doing, uh... here's what I've been doing :I

behold a compilation of my dumb Pokemon characters, all of whom are based directly on actual Pokemon I own in the games. please note that not all of these characters are meant for vore; the three on the far right (four, if you count Maimun's unbound form) are the ones I'm comfortable doing it with (as a few of my future submissions will inevitably indicate), but the others are a bit iffy, sorry! I am pleased with the designs, though, so I figured I might as well share the whole gang. this chart compares their actual sizes, since the picture above isn't remotely accurate in that regard... and here's some insight into their personalities, for anyone who's interested:

Orville (Magneton) is sweet, shy, and non-confrontational. he refers to himself as 'we' due to essentially being three individuals (Orville, Wilbur, and Turbine) in one body. 'Orville' is the dominant personality, but they all get along harmoniously and otherwise act like a single functioning person, albeit one that's a little jittery and unstable under stress. said stress includes any sort of battling, which he really would rather avoid whenever possible; he is definitely the type to flee rather than fight, though that reaction should not be misinterpreted as spineless cowardice. on the contrary, it is because he finds it harder to coordinate his multiple personalities in violent, frantic situations, and that has resulted in harm coming to both Orville himself and those around him at times-- the thought of which upsets and terrifies him.

Polaris (Cloyster) is a huge fucking jerk who loves pushing other people around for his own amusement. he's basically just a big bully and teases Orville relentlessly, though his perpetual hassling of the poor guy has actually forged something of an odd friendship between them. he's not as nasty as he makes himself out to be, honestly; he's just very full of himself, and picking on others helps fuel his ego. said ego largely stems from a desire to prove his worth, and above all, the need to reassure himself that he is not weak or pathetic. he takes any challenge or threat incredibly seriously because of that need to seem intimidating, regularly jumping headlong into unfavorable situations in ways that are obviously stupid and reckless. his tough armor and friendship with Orville are pretty much the only reason he's still alive.

Maurice (Dustox) is a dork. the biggest dork. everyone in his family was strictly raised to be polite, upstanding citizens due to his parents' desire to be respected and treated equally. every last one of them eventually evolved into Beautifly-- all save Maurice, who found that a life centering around obedience and courtesy to be very tedious indeed. he just wanted to relax and play with the other children, and often ignored his parents' demands to that effect, though whether that's the reason he evolved into Dustox instead is unclear. he left home to fend for himself when it became clear that they were displeased with his carefree attitude, but thanks to his obnoxious optimism, he's able to forget about the negatives and enjoy living the life he wanted. the life in question involves eating leaves off random trees, ogling street lamps, and excitedly chatting up anyone he comes across... often to their chagrin, since he never shuts up.

Delilah (Meowstic) is a prissy little princess who believes she's entitled to have everything handed to her on a silver platter. she perpetually acts like a total snob, and it's incredibly difficult to impress her or even command a moment of her attention unless one knows precisely how to approach her. due to being handed most things throughout her life, however, she actually isn't very knowledgeable and has to put on a facade of complete competence more often than not. as such, while she may act like she's a know-it-all and give off the impression of being strong, she's secretly anything but. not that she'll ever let anyone know that. she is impressively skilled at hiding her flaws, and will shut out anyone who tries to pry into the intricacies of her life without a moment's hesitation. this does mean the sad truth is that she doesn't have any real friends, but in the end, that's how she seems to prefer it.

Burgundy (Vileplume) is a sadist in the most literal sense of the word. as a child, she grew increasingly fed up with how cute little Pokemon like Oddish were widely considered a harmless, useless nuisance. now, several years and stages of evolution later, she is far more capable-- and chooses to weaponize her capability by indiscriminately punishing those who look down on her kind. or anyone, really. she's a pretty humongous bitch. I mean, the lady carries around a literal Vine Whip, what do you fucking expect? (despite her demeanor, though, I don't really fancy her as a predator in vore; she prefers to dominate and abuse in the more traditional sense). she hangs out with Maimun sometimes, and the two of them like banding together to form a horrible double-trouble asshole team where Maimun robs some poor, unwitting fools and then Burgundy beats them up. friendship at its finest!

Maimun (Hoopa) is an asinine little shrimp who's far too greedy for his own good. his kleptomania is painfully rampant, extending even beyond the typical level for his species-- which is seriously saying something. he obsesses over anything shiny, particularly jewelry, and hoards it to that effect; he also suffers from a slight case of pica in that he likes to eat especially valuable pieces on occasion (knowing full well how bad for him that is; it's a habit he can't easily break). he doesn't even stand four and a half feet tall, and desperately longs to return to his unbound form. the pains of being short, you see, are multiplied exponentially for someone who used to be 21 goddamn feet tall. in his original form, he's far more imposing and a legitimate threat to everyone around him, taking what he wants and ruthlessly tossing aside anyone who tries to intervene. there's an excellent reason why the vast majority of his power was sealed in a bottle... and where that bottle ended up is anybody's guess. he's had little choice but to begrudgingly get used to his teeny form as a result, and being held in a less-ungodly-powerful body has at least taught him the benefits of using guile and manipulation in place of brute force.

Yasha (Giratina) is a massive, terrifying, legendary force of nature that inspires fear in the hearts of men! ... or he used to be, until Arceus locked him away in a different dimension for a few millennia. over the course of that time, his excessively violent tendencies dwindled and faded to the point where absolute apathy took over; as a result, he's now the laziest, most disinterested son of a bitch imaginable, and finds napping and eating cake preferable to massacring the innocent. he's notoriously unsociable and responds to almost everything with lethargy and sarcasm, which makes him come across as passive enough (albeit not exactly the best choice for a conversation partner), but make no mistake-- his patience is very thin, and he finds eating people to be an excellent means of shutting them up. whether or not harm will befall someone in his presence is largely dependent on his mood, which doesn't help matters in the slightest; sharing his company is always risky, a fact that makes plenty of sense once one looks past his laziness and remembers that he's Giratina.

Izanami (Froslass) is an ice cold bitch, and not just because she can literally control the temperature. bred in captivity as a shiny with ideal statistics for combat, she was raised under the mindset that she was special, important, and perfect. this fostered a haughty disposition in her, but her Trainer was incredibly kind and she led a good life... up until he was suddenly killed in an accident, leaving her stranded and alone. hunted for her value and scorned by wild Pokemon for her uppity attitude, she quickly grew miserable and angry-- emotions that were exacerbated by the lack of an outlet or means of revenge, since it's rather hard to take revenge on accidental circumstances. without anyone to turn to, bitterness and spite took hold of her heart and she chose to direct her negativity at the world in general, warping a once decent girl into the vicious, callous, petty monster she is now. she resides alone, and relishes the act of freezing and tormenting any Trainer or Pokemon who dares offend her in the slightest way. sometimes their mere presence in her vicinity is enough, but god help anyone who thinks it wise to try and capture her. (they die in the most agonizing manner she can come up with at the time, if that wasn't abundantly clear.)

Vector (Deoxys) is a creature from beyond the stars who is completely fascinated by the world around him. he perceives things differently than any native species and, having arrived quite recently, is still very naive about how everything functions here on Earth. his current appearance is an effort to blend in with mankind, but his inability to see colors has unfortunately pretty much screwed him over in that regard; in tandem with the limits of his shapeshifting capabilities, that means there isn't a whole lot he can do to make himself look passably human. he has a bad habit of accidentally frightening or killing the people he tries to interact with, as they are biologically fragile and needlessly complex from his skewed perspective, proving to be vulnerable to all sorts of hazards that never would have concerned him... like, y'know, needing to breathe. nevertheless, he remains undeterred and is often oddly cheery in the face of pain, turmoil, and disaster. being detached from humanity's morals admittedly helps explain his positive outlook on existence, though it makes him come across as unnerving rather than endearing at times.

also, izanami reminds me of dia de los muertos makeup uvu and that makes me v happy because i love that sort of look. and paired with the wafuku it's all just $700.

and to avoid giving you 029853049820348 more comments, I'll try to keep everything in this comment.

you already KNOW that I love Yasha. his design is gr8. he has sharp teef. he's a big grumpy grumperpants and he's tol. that's my fetish. 11/10

vector's concept and design are also fABULOUS AAAAH. I HOPE YOU POST/DRAW MORE OF HIM BECAUSE THE ONE YOU DID OF HIM ABSORBING IS LIKE $700.

d-don't forget to post unbound maimun for the glory of his angry.

other than that, I also really like Polaris. uvu but i do think it's funny that the cloyster is named polaris instead of the magneton because

magnetic poles

polaris

fucking magnets how do they work

ANYWAY. Excellent work on ALL of these. uvu I love your line-art and I love how good and still "complete" stuff can look from you even when it's just flat-coloured.

h-hope to see more from you soon.

fffffff nukey you flatter me way too much jesus christ ;;

I never thought about Izanami's facial patterns like that but you're right, it really does resemble that sort of thing! since she's a ghost type, that just feels even more fitting, if we're being real here. I really wanted it to be an actual difference of color on her skin since most people's interpretations are some kind of mask, if anything... it strikes me as being creepier this way.

also don't worry, I will post most of my other doodles, vore and non-vore alike. I'll probably make some huge Yasha compilation or some shit like that instead of posting all the Yashas separately, since there are way too many of him. :I

as for Polaris' name, it actually was inspired by ProJared's Nuzlocke run (Burgundy and Orville also draw a bit of inspiration from that, for the record)-- he had a Cloyster named Stellar, and so when I got a Cloyster of my own, I named him after a star. his brother's name is Rigel, which is also a star. Orville's name just comes from the fact that its meaning has something to do with metal and I liked the way it sounded, but now there's also a bit of the Wright brothers in there when considering his other components/personalities.

thank you for all your wonderful feedback and love for these characters! just hearing you say so much about them makes me glad I wrote those condensed profiles and posted this picture. there will be more to come, even if you've seen most of it, so you can look forward to that! <3

Cerulesta

Posted by Cerulesta 9 years ago Report

Yes, yes it does! I mean, I don't do much same size and she's not big enough to do macro/micro, but... well, Minimize is a real move in the Pokemon universe and she is absolutely a nasty and spiteful enough person to eat somebody if they made her even slightly upset. It's a really cruel way to kill someone, and she's pretty much the expert on that. It'd be horribly cold in there, though; she's an Ice-type AND a Ghost, so having warm insides is out of the question, I'd think.

Magaso

Posted by Magaso 9 years ago Report

It's less cruel than what Froslasses do in canon though.

Cerulesta

Posted by Cerulesta 9 years ago Report

True. I think she would do that, too, though. Her personality was definitely inspired by the Pokedex entries of Froslass freezing her victims and then displaying them in secret like some sort of morbid trophy collection. A fate like that awaits at least some of the Trainers that try to capture her; she encases them in just enough ice to completely immobilize them, then lets them slowly freeze to death so they have plenty of time to regret their actions. I feel like I'd be doing Izanami and her species an injustice if I didn't incorporate something like what the Pokedex said. >v>;

Izanami has a REALLY ...cool design. I love the patterning on her face and the edging on her outfit.

As always though Yasha is da real MVP and I would subscribe to his newsletter

Cerulesta

Posted by Cerulesta 9 years ago Report

Really COOL? :I ... well you're not the first person to make that joke, and that's all I'm gonna say about it, lmao

I get the feeling, judging by the response from you and most of my other friends, that if Yasha had a newsletter he would be able to run a successful fucking business because of how many people would be interested in reading it. In other words, he's weirdly popular with the people I hang out with. Though I'm totally not complaining. \o/

Ice puns are low hanging fruit, sorry I couldn't resist. You have a great knack for extrapolating personality and design in really characterful ways that are both fun to look at and read about! Your passion for them shows through in your descriptions and how you've fleshed out their stories!

As always great job! \o/

Oh. My. God.

THEY'RE ALL SO COOL!!!

Polaris' armor is so well detailed! The hood is a wonderful touch to give him the face covering aspect that Cloyster has! And the flare up collar thing looks rad as hell!

Maurice looks like such a lovable nerd that makes friends with everybody!

Delilah looks...about how I'd expect most Meowstic to act, I'll be honest. They really look pretentious to me, and her stance and facial expressions really nail that. The dress is pretty cute, too.

I LOVE the frills on Burgundy's dress! It really brings her design together, imo.

Maimun DEFINITELY looks like Hoopa and an absolute troublemaker; and his original form, MY GOD. Don't even get me STARTED! He looks so awesome!

Yasha, meanwhile, has now become what defaults into my head as a Giratina Gijinka. His body is wide, sturdy, and powerful, the plate armor look is wonderful on him, and his hair perfectly personifies the wide head that Giratina has. Fucking amazing, the entire package!

Izanami looks like the direct translation from pokemon to human, and I love that about her. Her backstory, while tragic, definitely adds to the whole Pokedex entries of Froslass being cold and unnecessarily cruel to their victims.

Vector is just simply great. I love how you still utilized Deoxys' tentacle/hand aspect, and it seems to me that you spent a while designing him, if only for the sake of trying to maintain the original design without keeping too much of it or taking too much of it away. I also gotta say that i think this is the first time I've seen a positive backstory for a Deoxy Gijinka.

I think the only one that I really have a problem with is Orville, and I think that that's purely on a design standing. I mean, there's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's just that I personally feel like he/they could look a bit more aesthetically complex, seeing as he's technically 3 entities merged together. Again, nothing wrong with him/them at a base level, that's just my 2 cents on the matter.

Cerulesta

Posted by Cerulesta 9 years ago Report

Thank you so much for all your input and compliments! That you took so much time to analyze them all and describe the attributes you like most about them shows a lot of care and appreciation, and I sincerely appreciate that you went out of your way that much! I'll happily give my own input in response to your feelings, too. Sorry for more tl;dr here, but given how much you wrote and the fact that you read the entire description makes me inclined to think you may not mind too much. ;v;

Polaris is kind of a pain in the ass to draw with his armor, sadly; I'd likely spend more time drawing him if he weren't the most annoying one to capture without the sketch getting sloppy. I figured that giving him a hood was the only logical way of approaching Cloyster's physical appearance, and it also gives him that menacing feel that suits his jerkass personality. As you may have figured, I don't aim so much for designing excellent clothing that is inspired by the Pokemon, as many 'gijinka' artists do; I instead want to try and translate the Pokemon into a demi-human form as literally and accurately as possible, based on my personal aesthetics and interpretations.

You've got Maurice's personality spot-on, there; he's probably one of the most genuinely nice characters I have, though he can be a bit innocently insensitive and hyperactive at times in his efforts to befriend anyone he runs into. I agree with you on Meowstic's general attitude and personality, and with the name I gave Delilah (it was picked on a whim), I feel like being a brat was simply in the cards for her. She was also far and away the star of my team in Pokemon X, so I lavished my love on her, which I think attributes to her personality as well (since she's spoiled). As for Burgundy, I actually did have to go out of my way to try and come up with an interesting clothing design for her, since Vileplume's design is pretty simple, especially in terms of the body beneath the flower... it's one of the few cases, though, where I really am pleased with the end result, since I don't think clothing design is my best attribute as an artist (not that I'm bad at it, but I've seen outfits designed far better on many an occasion).

Maimun was a really easy Pokemon to translate into a demi-human form, due to already being a bit humanoid. His Unbound form was STUPIDLY fun to draw, albeit difficult, since 6 arms is way too many; I actually put him in a near-identical pose on purpose, so that I could make an image where one could mouse over it and he would swap between the two forms. With Yasha, I'm surprised that I haven't seen any other Giratina gijinkas that really resemble him in any way; I felt like giving him armor was the most obvious train of thought, but I don't know how many other artists approach these things the same way I do! I also have a ridiculous tendency to look at a Pokemon's head shape and go 'yep, that's their hair', even when said hair is an implausible and gravity-defying shape-- as is the case with Yasha and Vector, though in both circumstances I'm extremely fond of their impossible hairstyles.

In Izanami's case, giving her a kimono is essentially what everybody does, because that's clearly what Froslass' design is based on, so I tried to add a bit to it with the designs on the edges... though my favorite aspect of her design is the patterning on her face, which I feel gives her an eerie look that befits her personality. Getting that combination of creepy and pretty (which is probably my favorite aesthetic ever) was my definitive goal with her. Amusingly enough, I actually drew this before I obtained the real Izanami (the actual Pokemon in game); I was furiously grinding for shinies and hoped that giving her a depiction preemptively would 'appease' her enough to make her show her face. (She did, eventually, with the help of some of my friends who searched alongside me!)

Vector was a situation where I did take a while working on him, mostly his armor, because I was so fond of his noodle arms (it's so much easier to draw tentacles than hands, let me fucking tell you) and wanted to incorporate those while still making him look like a somewhat-human version of the Pokemon. While the others in this group are just meant to be demi-human-ized versions of the originals, Vector is actually meant to be a normal Deoxys who shapeshifted to make himself look the way he does, which sets him apart from the others in a way. Translating him as literally as possible was a more important goal with him as a result of that. And with his story, well... since I try to keep the stories for the Legendaries consistent with the lore, he did kinda get knocked out of the sky by Rayquaza in his attempts to get to Earth, but Earth is where he intended to end up and he's just really, earnestly happy to be here. The urge to create tragic backstories is strong for me in general (I'm a complete sucker for drama and angst, I'll admit it), but he didn't strike me as the right candidate for it. I prefer to take his naivete in a more lighthearted direction; since he knows so little about Earth, he ends up saying and doing some rather silly things.

And finally with Orville, I do accept your criticisms and see where you're coming from. Orville was actually the very first gijinka I designed, roughly two years ago (I designed Polaris, Delilah, and Burgundy shortly after him, and Maurice a little while after that; the others were made this year), and the backstory I wrote for him was not present at that time. Him using 'we' to refer to himself only recently evolved into the idea that he has multiple personalities, and that attribute doesn't manifest in the way he acts under normal circumstances, since he's quite stable. Looking at him, I do like his design still... yes, it could be more exciting, but I am also uncertain how I could improve it, since Magneton isn't a terribly complex Pokemon. If you have any advice, actually, I'd love to hear it! I wouldn't be above changing him, especially since I originally designed him some time ago.

Again, thank you so much for all your genuine input and consideration. It warms my heart to see comments like yours. Sorry for the incredibly lengthy reply-- I just wanted to give my thanks and opinion on everything you said, as well as answer some potential questions for the hell of it. :>

Silversepiroth

Posted by Silversepiroth 9 years ago Report

Omigosh, thanks for the reply, and I LOVE the long answer. It shows that you actually read it and brought what I said into consideration. I really mean it, it's great that you made such a long reply & I don't mind at all.

As for Orville, I feel like his current design, once modified a bit, would work better for a Magnezone rather than a Magneton. Magneton looks like three Magnetites mashed together, whereas Orville in his current state looks more like three Magnetites melted down and the mass remolded into something new, like Magnezone. His skin is too smooth given the circumstances, and I feel like since you used the one set of magnets, the other two sets should be used, too. Perhaps as bar magnets running along his forearm and thigh. On his face, I'd add in some lines in the space between the eyes and leading down his nose to his chin. Perhaps a line across his forehead from where an old mouth used to be. Magneton's design looks like it's several of the same pokemon put together, and the Gijinka's design should reflect this.

I could offer some other things, but given the harmonious nature of the three Magnetite involved, anything apart from the most superficial of changes would create a conflict between design and story.

Cerulesta

Posted by Cerulesta 9 years ago Report

That's actually some really solid input, thank you so much! Now that you mention him looking more like a Magnezone, well... I HAVE designed a (shiny) Magnezone, but he's my friend's character rather than mine, hence why he's not part of this compilation. And you're right, the smooth aesthetic suits him better than it does Magneton. I believe I will try out some of the revisions you recommended with Orville; I don't know if I'll edit this particular submission, but if I draw him in the future, he may look different if I decide to make the changes. You've been super helpful, this is the kind of criticism and advice I really love receiving, so I appreciate it a ton!

I like how how Orville got three eyes. It kinda makes more easy to see that he's combined of someone.
I like his defensive body pose.

Polaris looks like a tough fellow. I like the body armor.

I freckin love Maurice. He looks so happy and curious.

Delilah has quite the upstuck attitude. I like her dress.

Burgundy looks quite mean. I like how she has a plant whip.

Maimun kinda looks like an impish creature to me.

I like how Yashas hands look. The armored fingers is a nice detail.

Izanami has a nice yukata.

Vector looks interesting with his duality of colored hands/tentacles.

(Love Maurice.)
