Well looks like they are busted in the act by the captian. Alpha dose not like repeating herself or having to constantly have to be serious. making her have to work upsets her. so she will make them pay even if the crew member thinks the alpha is joking.

Captain Alpha did warned them so they should have listened and not slack off, especially since Alpha was serious about what she would do if she ever caught them again.

Yeah but you know how newbies are. Always thinking they can be the one exeption or that the 'she will eat you alive' saying is a joke.
