Inkuimeh (singular. Inkuitl)
Physical Description
The Inkuimeh are an all-female species of anthropomorphic, centaur-like hippopotamus-bovine hybrids and are one of the largest civilized people in the known world, with an average height (not counting the horns) of 12 feet (3.65m) and average length of 11ft 11in (3.63m).
While their massive size make them very strong and very tough, their bodies are too dense for them to be able to swim or even float. As such the Inkuimeh stay away from the sea out of fear of drowning or being attacked by Olchehmeh, for whom they are easy prey.
One benefit of being so large, though, is that no species on Mahwalli can swallow them whole, other than the dreaded Mamuieneh, that is.
Like most other species on Mahwali, the Inkuimeh are quite long-lived and individuals have been known to reach over 300 years of age. They retain their youthful looks throughout their adult life, even Inkuimeh who die of old age do not look a day older than 25 years. Death by old age is caused by internal organ failure, typically the heart.
The Inkuimeh reproduce through parthenogenesis, but a Inkuitl daughter is not clone of her mother and has only half the mother's genetic material.
An adult Inkuitl need to eat about 70 pounds (32kg) of food each day, and typically eat this much in one sitting.
The Inkuitl digestive system is the most efficient in all of Mahwalli, with a three-chambered stomach that breaks down their meals into nutrients, fat, and milk, leaving no waste-matter. However, their complex digestive system is also quite slow, as it typically takes them a whole week to fully digest their meals, and prey that have been swallowed whole may survive up to three days in their stomachs. While the womb can also serve as a stomach, it digests meals in a mere day, but although this is very pleasurable, it is very wasteful.
Although this efficient digestive system provides the Inkuimeh with a lot of calories and nutrition, much of their meals are turned into milk. Because of this, all adult Inkuimeh, with the exception of those suffering from starvation, produce milk and often to such an extent that they need to be frequently milked.
Inkuimeh are physiologically and neurologically wired to experience sexual stimulation by swallowing prey alive. Because of this, the Inkuitl body has several adaptations to make up for this species feeding behavior. Their internal organs are very strong and resistant to damage, unfortunately this also causes them to fail after a few centuries.
Reproduction and Sexuality
The reproduction process is triggered by an intense and prolonged desire to have children, this releases biochemicals which cause one or more egg cells to be released into the uterus where they begin prenatal development.
Because of their reproduction method, no stigma exist regarding incest as there is no risk of inbreeding. The Inkuimeh also tend to be polyamorous and they view sex as recreation.
The Inkuimeh have two basic concepts of sex: nahan and nachue.
Nahan is the type of sex which expresses affection such as between friends and family. Nahan is usually used to seal political alliances as it is seen as a symbol of friendship between both parties. Nahan is also used to refer to casual sex that is devoid of affection, besides the word's actual meaning.
Nachue on the other hand is the type of sex in which someone is taken advantage of. Nachue doesn't just cover rape, for instance it also covers consensual sex in which one party ends up being eaten.
Tenahnui
Inkuimeh live in the archipelago of Tenahnui, which is unlike many other lands on Mahwalli in that it is fully united under the rule of a single Jamesotl (High Queen), this and their lack of a navy have made their land one of the most peaceful. They are fully aware of the dangers lurking outside of their lands, though, and have built massive stone walls to protect themselves from raiders and other attackers.
While Tenahnui also has several other sapient species besides the Inkuimeh, most of these are slaves.
Tenahnuan Society
The basic unit of Tenahnuan society is the family, which is not only marked by blood relations but also by legally constructed relations. The lesinatl, the oldest freeborn woman in the family, is the absolute head of the family; she is the master over her children, the slaves, and the freedwomen (liberated slaves, the first generation still legally inferior to the freeborn), disposing of them and of their goods at will, even having them put to death. However, the lesinatl has the responsibility to ensure that all members in her family are provided for, including the slaves.
There are four different social classes in Intanuan society, these are the keaneh, the juarameh, the alehmeh, and the lahnameh.
The keaneh (singular. keantli) are the royal family, headed by the Jamesotl who is considered to be a mortal goddess, and is the ruler of all of Tenahnui as well as the head of the state religion. The Jamesotl is believed to be the daughter of the sun and the Inkuimeh the children of the sun. To control her divine bloodline, the Jamesotl is the only keantli who is allowed to breed, and her children and siblings are required to be childless on pain of death. Most of Tenahnui is considered to be state property and as such is owned by the Jamesotl, but managed by others.
The rest of the keaneh are typically employed in the highest positions in Tenahnui, often as janualameh (high-priestesses).
The juarameh (singular. juaratl) are the nobility, who are the only other class who owns land, in the form of large estates. The hierarchy among the juarameh is very fluid and based on a combination of lineage and prestige. Those families who are found to be deserving are given land, thus the most powerful juarameh are the ones with the most valuable land and most prestigious lineages.
Each year, the Jamesotl picks one juaratl in each city to rule over it and the surrounding territories as a Savenchatl (basically, a governor). During this one year period, the Savenchatl manage the state property, commands the local troops, and receives a share of taxes collected. No one juaratl family may be given this position more than once every five years, this is to ensure that they do not grow too powerful.
Aside from the keaneh, the juarameh fill the highest positions in Tenahnui.
The alehmeh (singular. alehtl) are people who provide services or goods for money. These can range from artists, craftsmen, workers, guards, merchants, to career soldiers. Though, an alehtl cannot own land and must pay taxes to her local Savenchatl.
The lahnameh (singular. lahnatl) are mainly the ones who provide Tenahnuan society with food, and do so through fishing, hunting, animal husbandry, and aquaculture. A lahnatl pay most of her yield as tax to her Savenchatl, but is also required to pay a labor tax, which means that she has to partake in construction projects or military service for a certain amount. However, a lahnatl usually have enough of her yield left after taxation to allow her to sell some of it for money, thus enabling her to purchase goods and services.
While slaves are technically a social class, Tenahnuan society do not consider them as such. Instead they are seen as property. There are no Inkuimeh slaves in Tenahnui, as it is illegal to keep them as slaves, and all slaves on the archipelago are members of other species that have either been brought to Tenahnui or were born there. Slaves can be bought and sold in slave markets. A few slaves are freed by their masters for fine services rendered; some slaves can even save money to buy their freedom.
According to Tenahnuan law, mutilation and torture of slaves is prohibited, although murder is legal. In addition, it is required by law that the lesinatl of the family that the slave belongs to ensures that the slave is provided for while still alive.
Many slaves are eaten by their masters, but there are a few who are thought too fond of to be killed.
Tenahnuan Education
Lahnameh and alehmeh are given a vocational education, usually by their mothers who teach them her trade. Sometimes, though, mothers of these social classes pay someone to teach their children another trade.
Meanwhile, keaneh and juarameh are given a highly formalized education by private teachers. This is usually a general education when they are young, but when they grow older they a given a more specialized education based either on their interests or on what vocation their mothers want them to have.
Tenahnuan Luovikuameh
Luovikuameh (singular. luovikuatl) means "milk houses", and are state-owned facilities meant for milking and engaging in sexual activity with slaves know as luochameh (literally "milkers").
Because of the Inkuimeh biology, they produce a lot of milk, to the point where often suffer from breast and udder pains if they do not get a frequent release, and they find it sexually pleasurable to be milked. The luovikuameh were created to ensure that every Inkuitl in every city and village had a place to go to get the release of being milked while also socializing with her community.
The luovikuameh is a public service to the Inkuimeh of Tenahnui, and as such is completely free to enjoy. Additionally, Inkuimeh may devour or unbirth luochameh if she pays her luovikuameh enough for it to buy replacements, but it is considered taboo to consume a luochatl who does a good job milking and pleasuring you.
The luovikuameh sell the milk it collects to locals who either just drink it or turn it into butter, cheese, aged butter, or kiilli. The latter two are highly valued and produced by artisans. Aged butter is spiced butter that is allowed to ferment and age (sometimes for many years), resulting in a prestigious condiment used in Tenahnuan cuisine, while kiilli is simply fermented milk with a mild alcohol content, but is nevertheless a very popular beverage.
Most of the money a luovikuatl makes is used to maintain and improve itself, while the rest is given to the city as tax.
Tenahnuan Trade and Commerce
Because the Inkuimeh fear the sea, and thus don't have any seafaring merchants, the people of Tenahnui have gone several lengths to ensure that their land is an attractive destination for any foreign trader. They pride themselves in craftsmanship and in producing luxury goods such as cheese, aged butter, kiilli, wine, as well as jade figurines and jewelry. While the people of Tenahnui are seemingly most interested in buying slaves, the royalty, nobility, and middle class all desire exotic goods from distant shores.
