Chapter 4 Depths of hell

The fall was long and the light was quickly fading the farther she fell. Issa knew she only had so much time before the ground, or just like the ruined catwalk she barely missed, took her out permanently. Focusing on the flailing screaming white vixen about twenty feet below her Issa knew that she had to hurry.

"Damn it Banal, I will kill you for this you old relic."

After trying to pull herself into a more arrow-like posture, she aimed herself toward the fox hoping that her flailing would slow her down enough to catch her. The fall seemed to go on forever but she knew it had only been a few moments since Banal sent the group over the cliff with his grenade.

Sharue was beyond panicked as she flailed about trying to find a hold. The stupid fox even tried grabbing a bar that had stuck out of the rockcrete. The action sending her twisting and spinning madly even bouncing off the wall at one point.

Issa couldn't say she was fearless, even with her void shield and armor a fall from this height would be hard to survive once she reached terminal velocity. Five seconds went by, then ten, and finally she grabbed the vixen’s tail and yanked her close.

It was a violent reunion as the white fox flailed and struck at her, screaming madly over the rush of wind. The pair tumbled and twisted before Issa was able to tuck her in front holding on from behind and keeping the fox facing forward.

Catching an old red painted lettering on the shaft, she knew they were little over two-thirds of the way down. This really was happening, they were falling into the under dark and if the fall didn’t kill them the mutants and scum that inhabited it would if she couldn't come up with a plan.

Sharue still had plenty of fight in her, though much of it was spent sobbing and screaming thinking the world was going to end for her. In a way it was, if they survived this ordeal she would never return to the life she once was a part of.

"Damn it fox, stop being a bitch!"

Issa couldn't help herself as frustration was creeping in at the overall situation. A chain smacking her hard also almost forced her to spin away from the fox.

She pushed down the urge to simply kill the vixen right then and focused on what options they had. Not many that was for sure, in fact to be honest she had nothing.

They had to be at terminal velocity by now, which meant that the two of them were probably falling at about hundred and eighty to two hundred and thirty kilometers an hour. Her armor and void shield could counter maybe a hundred of that but they would still hit the ground at over eighty kilometers an hour. That was barely survivable for her let alone her vixen cargo that if she landed on her might as well kiss her self-good bye.

"Fuck! FUCK FUCK FUCK!"

Issa screamed her frustration before twisting about forcing the fox to turn with her. There was one thing to try but it was a long shot.

"Hey, fox stuff! We got about three minutes before we hit the ground. Think you could cushion it for me? Though I think you would make a horrid mess on my armor there."

The fox actually stopped screaming for a bit looking at Issa in horror, which was good.

"That’s right at this speed you're going to squish like a horrid boil so if you could try to lay face down or such!"

"Go frack yourself!"

The fox was getting pretty upset at that taking her mind off the fall some and redirecting that fear and anger at Issa.

"Nah, not my type!"

The two started to struggle about but Issa could easily keep a hold of her rolling her to look down

"See that? That blackness? That’s your death coming up and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it! You’re going to be a smear on the fucking bottom and that ass hole of an Inquisitor will have done his job!"

It was hard to shout over the rushing wind but the ground was getting closer.

"Here it comes!"

The fox franticly struggled making it hard to keep them facing the right way. She still wasn't doing what she needed though. Scowling Issa reached up and turned a lamp on from her armor. The beam of light shooting down into the darkness and over the course of the next ten or so seconds the ground started to appear. Long pillars of rockcrete and rebar flew past them as they fell into a massive cavity. The pillars went out miles and miles though the only ones the couple could see were the ones flying past them.

"Almost there!"

The fox was mad with panic, clawing and ripping at Issa until the actual ground came into view. Emperor, this better work! Even Issa couldn't help but close her eyes bracing for it until she felt something shift and change. The fur was standing up on her neck and when she looked through a cracked eye, it was as if time had come to a standstill. Green light was radiating from the fox, surrounding them in a sphere of green light about twenty or so feet from the ground.

The vixen’s screams were almost like wailing horrors and her body was rigid forcing herself in an arch head rolled back. The look was frightening even to Issa as it looked like hell was boiling out of her.

There was a reason the Empire demanded that all psykers be taken in or killed. Demonic possession was a real thing and a psyker of Sharue’s caliber would draw all the demons of the warp to it like flies to a bright light in pure darkness. Issa had known that Sharue was powerful but not to this extent.

"The hell are you?"

Then, all she remembered was a bright flash of green light and her world tumbled about her. The armors lamp showed pillar after pillar and sometimes the ground until she felt herself collide with a solid surface.

Sharue woke in pain. A soft sob crept out of her as she lay in the rubble that she found herself in. She had no idea what had happened, just that she remembered feeling afraid and angry, the most she had ever been, then waking up.

Letting out a slow sob, she felt water splashing along her face and right arm, or at least she hopped it was water. Opening her eyes slowly she could make out just blackness. They had fallen so far that the opening to the vent had long since faded away. Though there was light, about hundred feet off there was what looked like a lamp light flickering.

Other than being stressed and high on adrenalin, which gave her some horrid shakes, she seemed to be ok. However, her natural under hive nature kept her from calling out for help or calling out to... what was her name? She had been so afraid that even before the fall when that one fellow came in she didn't really pay attention to the names being tossed around.

She bet that light was her though. That fracking bitch was about to use her as a cushion and that made her a bit upset. Green light started to light the nearby area, startling her a bit before looking for the source of it.

It took her a little bit, but she realized it was coming from her own body. Scared, she quickly got up, though by the time she did the light was gone.

Sharue's heart was thumping hard and as much as she hated to admit it, she would rather be with that bitch collie then alone in this dark. She needed to make her way to her and see if she knew what was going on. The collie did seem to know the male, the pair of them talking just before that odd device went off sending the.... WHERE WAS ERIC?

The fox paused and whipped about left and right. Eyes wide with worry and fright as she felt about darkness as if to get lucky enough to find him.

"Eric?!" she hissed out as loud as she could permit herself.

"ERIC!" a little louder but the echo of it forced her to hunch down and shut up.

Sharue sobbed a bit, quietly rubbing her head while trying to grasp what was going on or why it was even happening. Was it because she violated the rules and went to the upper hive? Hyperventilating wasn’t helping her either as her chest rose and fell in quick short breaths.

Then it was like someone just flipped a switch in her. Her strength left her in darkness, not the visual type, rushing in to force her to collapse where she stood.

Issa laid there for a few long seconds after she regained consciousness. Unlike Sharue, her landing was a bit on the harsh side. She was sure she had a few broken bones and blood was running down over one eye meaning she probably banged her skull.

Her HUD flickered on and according to her crono, she had been out for about ten minutes it seemed. The armor was already forming casts about the broken areas of her body and a pain sedative was working through her body making her pain bearable.

"You really are a monster, Sharue." As she said that a large smile crept across her face as the fox meet her expectations and then some. That is if she survived the fall.

It took another few moments before Issa could pull herself up by a piece of rebar that had just barely missed her.

"That bitch gonna need a collar to keep those powers in check." Issa coughed out as she stood fully, if a bit slowly.

She needed to find that white fluff ball though. Pulling out her bolt pistol Issa made her way through the rubble to where she guessed they came in at. The ground was littered with broken rockcrete and trash littered the area.

Issa brought up her thermal HUD and sighed turning off her armor lamp making it easier to spot things as they came up in reds and blues. It took her several minutes but eventually she found what she hoped was the fox.

The lamp coming on and sure enough the fox was laying there thankfully breathing but seemed to be out like a light. Blood was dribbling out of her nose and eyes, even her ears. Looking her over she could tell that it wasn't from the impact so she probably pushed herself to hard with her powers.

Those powers were a gift and a curse. The full potential relied on the user’s ability to live through the use of it. Using a finger to open Sharue's eyelid she saw that her eyes were blood shot.

"You're going to have a head ache from hell when you wake up."

Sitting and looking about the area, Issa turned off her lamp and turned on her night vision. She herself was a little loopy with pain meds and sick to her stomach needing to rest as she pondered about what to do.

She had never been to the under dark. It was consuming, not in a physical sense but everything just felt off. The darkness made it hard to get the true gauge of how massive this place was. It was filled with decay and her HUD picked up over a dozen toxic chemicals in the air alone. This is where the waste of the city went. Lakes of nothing but acid flowed from one terrace to another spilling into lagoons filled with the bones of crumbling buildings.

Skeletons of old buildings jutted out, their rusted iron ribs sticking out like some dead massive beast that gave in to the grind of time, turning it into a massive graveyard. In fact, her paw pushed off some of the debris she was sitting on seeing that she was actually sitting on an old massive tank. A mars pattern Baneblade from the ancient wars.

"Oh man the Mecanicus would love to find you, hun." she chuckled patting its rusted carcass. Sighing she would have to just rest up and wait for the fox to wake up. She was in no condition to carry the fox and she felt like there might be some explaining to do.

A thought came to her as Issa tapped her com button "Alpha six? Gamma four? Recovery team? Anyone?" Static was all that reached her making her cuss and sigh.

"That would have been too easy, eh?"

The collie laughing, making a mock conversation with the passed out vixen next to her.

"Too fucking easy...." sighing as she looked out across the darkness a hint of fear creeping into her voice.

******

Van rubbed his face clean of the water as he looked into the mirror, a young but scarred face looked back at him. The semi-shaggy look of whatever mutt breed he was looking back at him. Being a blank was not the easiest thing to live with and it made you not care too much about your personal appearance, though he did keep up his appearances for Issa.

When she wanted to take him to bed she tended to like him cleaned up. His shaggy long hair draping down this his shoulders as his thick grey fur was cow licked in every direction.

"Van, he is waking up."

Sighing, he stood up and pulled up his pants before heading out. His cropped tail hidden beneath them as it was a punishment done by Issa once for failing her. He hoped he wouldn’t lose anything else.

Throwing his towel over his shoulder, he moved out to see Eric groaning and shifting about.

"Eh, you awake?"

Eric groaned and let out a grunt of pain the chains had dislocated an arm and cracked a rib. All of which his... Issa's medics took care of.

Another k9 was there with them. A black mutt like him, a mix breed in which Issa is quick to remind them about that fact if they messed up. This one was new though so he didn't know too much about him other then he still had that enthusiasm about him.

Something he used to have, though the years of soul grinding work quickly changed his views.

"Come on, bud." Vans paw patting Eric's shoulder, his good one, and walked off to get water. "Need you awake."

Eric responded by slowly sitting up holding his head.

"Who the frack are you?"

He slurred out groggily. The meds the medics gave him still in the large wolf's system.

"Watch your mouth there friend. You're with civilized company." Van said handing Eric the water. It annoyed him to no end that the under hivers cussed in their slang like someone would casually talk about the weather or how a dinner went.

"Oh frack off!"

Van balled up a fist but then relaxed looking at the male. Leaning in he could see the unease wash over him. Being a Blank was good at that though personally he wished he could just bust the dim bulb in the head.

"No."

Van was not in the mood and he needed the male to cooperate until he found out if Issa was alive or dead. If she is dead, then he would gladly rid himself of this hive trash.

"Look just be quiet, heal up and just relax. We’re trying to get your friend back." Van tried trying to ease tensions.

Eric looked about and was quite disoriented still. The fall and injuries causing him to sort of lull there but he was taking note of things like the fancy apartment. Well, fancy to the wolf anyway.
Van guessed that this was probably the nicest hab he has ever been in. It was ironic too as this was sort of the armpit of the upper hive. Just a nice place to lay low and just relax while he waited for Issa to contact him.

Van also needed to look into who tipped Banal off to where they would be. Thinking back to everyone that would have known he could only guess that it was one of the foot sloggers, but they would have had to get it off just before they started.

Issa was always careful in not telling anyone what was going on until it was already happening. It might have been one of the corporation heads. If that was the case, there was nothing he could do but he could at least find out if it was.

Eric groaned and settled back, it was obvious that he would take a bit to recover fully. That was a good thing because frankly he didn't want to deal with the hiver.

Once Van was sure that Eric was not going to cause any issues he started to dig about with his contacts. Making sure to get info sent off to his own contacts to start poking about. He then looked at his crono and sighed.

"Now we wait."

****

Sharue groaned, slowly coming to. She didn’t know how long she had been out after fainting but it felt like it was forever. Something hurt… she must have passed out laying on something uncomfortable. The vixen sat up slowly, her hearing picking up a susurrus of a noise that was too garbled to comprehend at first but in an instant, her senses came to. It was Issa.

"You fully up there fox?"

Sharue rubbed her head as she cracked an eye open slowly. That collie was there looking at her making her cringe a bit. Anger and a few other emotions flowed through her but she just didn’t have the strength to act on them just yet.

"You...."

Sharue groaned and turned, trying to look away and deal with her throbbing head not wanting to deal with the reality of the situation.

"Yes me, thankfully I got you angry enough to save our hides."

A soft chuckle coming from the collie making the fox slowly roll over.

"The frack that mean?"

To be honest she didn’t know how they were alive and didn't even want to worry about it just yet. Though she felt like she was about to have to worry about it soon. Groaning and grumbling she didn't realize that she looked about how she felt. Dust, mud and grime coating her and Issa as well as blood that had come out of her eyes and nose from the burst of whatever that was.

Reaching up to rub her face, she slowly sat fully up and looked about a bit more.

"Where are we?"

Her voice a bit crackly as she sighed, looking up. It was only then she realized that it was almost pitch black with specks of light coming from odd sources. The main source was coming from Issa, every time the collie looked her way the light from her shoulder lamps about blinded her.

"We are in the under dark, sadly." Came Issa's reply.

"So our chances of living might be better when we were falling than it is now, but not by much. Still have to figure out how to get out of this shit hole and back up into the upper hive where we can get you off this rock."

Sharue laid back down a bit, thinking back on the events. She remembered feeling so damn scared and then angry.

"The frack you do to me while we were falling?" Sharue managed to choke out clearing her throat a bit still not having enough in her to be hostile beyond some curse words.

"That was all you hun." Issa said patting her shoulder making her wince a bit. Truth be told the collie didn’t look all that good herself. A lot of her armor looked rather thrashed and she was favoring her arm pretty good.

"You hurt?"

Issa shrugged..

"I don't think anyone could fall from that height and not be hurt. You seemed to have gotten out of it decently okay."

Sharue let out a snort slowly trying to stand to her feet. Her head was killing her. "What do you mean that was all me?"

The fox was getting a bit confused as she started to just ponder on things "And who was the human trying to kill me?!"

Banal’s words coming to mind brining a bit of panic with them. Why the heck was someone out to kill her specifically? She was use to things like rex units or other gangs wanting to kill her for her association but never some one that looked so official and so personal.

"And what was up with that last name?" Looking up that last question was mostly to herself.

Issa on the other hand though was more than willing to answer on that one.

"That’s your real last name. Banal has always been an ass but he does have that part right. Your last name is Silvermoon. In fact, you have a different first name but you have been Sharue for so long that I would say that is your name."

Sharue looked over at the collie, a bit dumb founded, trying to reason or even come up with a response.

"How the frack does everyone know stuff about me and not me?!" Sharue spat out angrily looking about "And you!" She growled out "You tried to kill me! Explain to me what you meant by you made me angry and it saved us!"

Issa was a little impressed that the fox did have a backbone. Though she knew the fox had a little bit of a temper from watching her grow up for so long.

"One question at a time, Sha." She said a bit more sternly.

"First you're from the house Silvermoon, pretty wealthy family but you having your abilities and such sort of got you banished. Second let’s finish this part up before we get to Banal, you first need to find out why you were banished before you can understand why Banal wants you dead."

Issa made a gesture for her to sit and she slowly sank down to sit.

"Also, try not to yell. We are in the under dark and there is a lot of critters that would want to see us dead down here."

Issa pointed out as she relaxed back a little bit putting her lamp to red tint and low power. Just enough to see herself and Sharue. She figured a light could give them away just as much as a shout.

"Ok fox brain now listen up." The collie putting on an easier going mentality for the fox trying to get her to loosen up a bit.

"You're a psyker. One that sticks out considerably, one that scares the shit out a lot the sources of this whole cluster that you're in."

Sharue gave the collie a blank look showing that she had no idea what the dog was talking about.

"You better not be pulling my leg or frackin’ with me."

Issa put up a paw dismissively "No I'm not now just listen because it's important that you start realizing how much of a danger that is to you, the ones around you, and your family that tossed you into the trash."

Sharue gave Issa quite the look, those green eyes narrowing and a little bit of a green glow coming from them.

Issa got to the point as she tapped her on the forehead "Psykers can use their mental abilities to do things. Move objects, read minds, light a fire and much more. You can do this but you have a genetic tweak that gives you quite the enhanced ability to do so much more. In fact, you're classified as an Alpha plus. Something that some Inquisitors like Banal claim is to dangerous to the empire and must be killed. While others like my self-thing that could be very good for the empire."

The collie took a breather watching Sharue as the fox simply watched back. She wasn't a stupid girl. Sharue was trying to put everything into place in her mind. She had heard of Inquisitors and such but they were used as boogymen to scare you from doing something stupid. Psyker? She had no idea what it was up until now.

"This is starting to sound like a sales pitch for something, what are you getting by helping me?"

Sharue was always a distrustful sort and knew that every paw extended in help was always in the others best interest and not your own. Just sometimes those interests can match up enough to be beneficial to both parties.

"I'll get what I need eventually. You could call this a long term investment."

The collie said with a smirk though she looked tired and hurt much like the way Sharue herself was feeling.

"But first we need to get out of this hell hole before any of us can cash in on things."

Issa was looking about allowing Sha to get a look about herself. It was a hellhole, that was for sure. The rusty beams and chemical smells started to get to her.

"I'll agree with you there; we need to get the frack out of this place. I have never heard of any one coming back from the under dark though..."

Issa nodded "It won’t be easy but I have gotten out of worse situations."

"What was your name again?" Sharue asked looking the other female over. She would be a good breeder if she was in the under hive. Trim body, wide hips, and very healthy-looking compared to many of the females in the under hive. She had a world of difference about her though. Her accent was different and she didn’t talk like under hivers.

Sharue could only guess that she must have come from the upper hive. Something that didn't make the fox trust her any more.

"Issa."

The collie was slowly getting up, grunting at the stiff and painful feeling she was bearing. Her armor was already pumping in the chemicals to help heal and reduce the pain but she would still have to be careful.

"That’s it? Issa?"

Sharue frowned a bit not enjoying the fact that someone wasn't willing to give her full name.

"That's it." Came the answer and a playful wink.

"Very well lead the way. I can barely see."

Issa just nodded working her way over the rusted Baneblade they were resting on.

"When we get topside I want to know more about all of this that’s going on."

Sharue was worried that her world was changing fast and she wanted to know what to expect. Though that could wait as one thing she has always been good at is focusing on the here and now. Survive the under dark then move on to learning about psykers and inquisitors.

Issa offering a nod as her shoulder lamp kicked back on shining down the path of twisted metal and shadows leading her deeper in.

*****

Banal sighed as he looked over his report. The inquisitor rubbing his nose bridge looking about his plane cabin chamber. He had been on his ship for about three days now and they had even made transition to the warp. Aboard was Risa who was recovering from her ambush and his select crew that he trusted the most. Not that he trusted any of them completely as all souls were corruptible.

Issa was a case in point. He had been a fool not to act on the fox sooner. The info drones that Risa had snuck in with her had done their job at getting the info he needed and it was not good at all.

Risa was ignorant that he had snuck them on her and while he hadn't planned on her being ambushed and shot he had made it prudent not to tell her that she had such devices on her.

An Alpha plus, if that was the case then the likes of her have not been recorded inn almost three hundred years. It was his master’s lifelong goal to hunt down the alpha plus that had brought ruin to whole solar systems and it was his dying action that had brought the end of that monster’s destructive path.

Now here he was looking at a similar situation. Truth be told, he let politics get the best of him on top of wishful thinking.

The wishful thinking was that he had been tracking a demon cult for over sixty plus years. A cult that said their master would be born out of the mind’s hell. Now any psyker could be used as a gateway for demonic possession but the greater demon he was tracking would need a very powerful psyker.

Banal had known that Sharue was powerful to start with, and that the cult had an interest with the house Silvermoon for their high birth rate of psykers. He had gone to each psyker that was found and either deported them on the black ship or killed them.

All of them had been very low level psykers, and the birth logs had mentioned this vixen but when she came up missing that’s what started his investigation into the whole matter.

It infuriated him to no end though that he hadn't just killed her when he had the chance. Leaning his head back, Banal sighed and looked to the celling. He really hoped that the fall killed her and Issa but at the same time, he needed to abolish the demon that was trying to fight its way into the material world. He could delay it or he could banish it. Delaying it was just hopping about killing the potential gateways but the demon could just simply look for another.

No. What he needed to do is lure it out and finish it off banishing it back to the abyss for a thousand years.

Clenching his jaws a bit he thought it over. Issa has her claws in the council as well. Otherwise, why would the council tell him to just watch her and not simply kill her like the others?

Banal did not like uncertainty. Doubt clouded the mind and pulled you from your purpose.

"The longer I live the more I grow to despise this life and the universe that supports it."

Pausing for just a moment and turning to face the door where Risa was waiting.

"You should be resting."

Risa gave a small bow in just her robes that she wore when not on duty.

"I apologize master, please forgive me but I wanted to know what we were going to do next."

Risa had been getting more aggressive in her approach with him. It was a good and bad thing as he hoped she would never question his actions; he would hate to have to execute her. Though at the same time it was a sign of growing up. She wasn't looking to him for permission for every little thing. Acting more on her own than some mindless servitor.

"Make sure to recite the litany of faith tonight and you are forgiven. As to what we are going to do next you will know when your part comes."

He gestured for her to enter.

"I did want to ask more about Issa. We will be in transit to the council for the next week so I should get my report done before then."

Risa nodded sharply coming in and looked about. Banal gave a wave of his hand to a chair across the room letting the feline sit.

"I didn't even know she was there till I was shot master. I believe it was a needler of some sort."

Banal nodded "It was a needler, an interesting choice of a weapon. She didn't use the usual toxins which is why you're alive today."

Risa nodded again.

"Though I was awake enough to see that her and the owner of the corporation were working closely with each other. He didn't seem surprised at what happened so I could only assume he could be charged with conspiracy and aiding a criminal action."

A soft sigh came from Banal as he nodded a little bit "Possibly. Was there nothing else you remember beyond that though?"

Risa thought a while and nodded some "She had a cloaking device. There is no way that she could have hid herself in that small of a room without one. Also I think I spotted a personal shield generator."

That made Banal cock his eyebrow a bit. Those were old tech and not easy to come by.

"Could you tell if they were imperial design or xeno?"

Risa shook her head "No master I am sorry I did not."

Banal swore softly "Of course it wouldn't be that easy. If you had and we could prove it, I could get the council to side with me in ordering Issa's execution along with the Silvermoon."

Risa looked confused as she slowly started speak.

"So you do not think they were killed when you blew them off into the vent shaft?"

Shaking his head Banal looked to his Interrogator. "It is never that simple Risa. If Issa has what you say she has and the fox is an Alpha plus, then the chances of a simple fall killing them is very slim. We have to be careful too, as I didn't get formal approval to terminate either of them."

"When did the Inquisition become so political?"

A snort of a laugh came from Banal.

"It has always been like that. My master once left for a whole solar year to track down simple heretics to get out of the politics and left me at the council’s mercy in his steed. I never forgave him for that. "

It was not like Banal to open up to her like that. Though to be honest, he had grown fond of Risa over the years even though he tried to hide it. She was faithful and reminded himself a lot of what he was like when he was an Interrogator.

Risa looked uncomfortable at him opening up like that but kept quite as he cleared his throat.

"I think it’s time I let you in on what is going on. What I am about to share stays with us and no one else."

Pushing the data slate to Risa for her to take. "You know we are tracking Tas' Lit Triton Silvermoon but here is why.”

He filled her in on everything he wished her to know. About how he was told to observe for now but also his hunch that she was the gateway the demon that he had been hunting for over sixty years and that Issa was possibly influencing the council.

She took it in stride but looked nervous to be allowed to view such information. She should be as a healthy amount of distrust and caution kept Inquisitors alive in this hellish living.

“Surely the council will take your side if she is a gateway?”

Banal took the data slate back and looked her in the eyes a bit more serious. “Never assume anything, always go into every fight as if you will have to fight your hardest and longest to win.”

Something that he himself learned through disappointment and pain. He could see the surprise in Risa’s face at the venom in his words. She would have to get used to it and learn that the Inquisition is not a flawless organization. If she couldn’t adapt and grow with it she would die. That was the way of the order but he hoped that it would not come to that.

It took her a moment but then he saw that determination that made him want to smile. She was a stubborn and proud individual, which would be useful in time.

“If you are able, I want you to turn my bed and be ready for me to join you tonight.” Risa nodded getting up and taking a soft bow.

He knew that he shouldn’t have her servicing him physically but it was as much as a control thing as it was physical and sexual need.

“Dismissed.”

Risa left the cabin and headed down the ship towards the sleeping quarters where she stepped in to her master’s room. She always felt a thrill entering this place, to her it was almost a holy place where only those who were trusted were allowed to come.

Pausing she turned and looked into the reflective glass looking herself over. Opening her robe up she looked over the bandaged area frowning. She had felt so bad at failing her master and had expected him to just leave her to die. Instead he took her back and even gave her full medical treatment. On top of that, he let her know about his plans.

Either Banal was going to use her as bait, or maybe he told her lies and if she told someone else he would catch her in it. However, she did feel like this was at least mostly true.

She was young and her body was in her prime, the attention from her master thrilled her so she didn’t mind that he took sexual liberties with her. To be honest she enjoyed these times, it made her feel wanted and he always allowed things like a drink and for just a bit the two of them could forget that they and their brethren were all that stood between the empire and the horrors that simple minded souls could not comprehend.

She rubbed her paws down her abs just below the bandages and frowned a little bit. She would never carry children, the Inquisition made sure of that by rendering her barren.

It was a small price to pay for such an important task. Pulling the sheets back, she started to get things ready and look forward to the time she and her master would relax and just forget the fears and stresses that their jobs held for them.

“Master I will not fail you again.” She muttered and then frowned deeply “Issa I will get you for this….”

A moment of hatred flowing through her as she held her bandage where she had been shot. “Emperor, give me the strength to do what is needed and protect me from the unclean thinking of the xeno and hermitic. Let me be your weapon in which we will bring your foes low and give strength to the Empire.”

Elsewhere, Banal watched on his view screen to make sure that Risa was doing as she was told, but also pondered on a few things before joining her in his bed chamber.

He knew he could not allow himself to become attached, as even if she was an Interrogator she may need to be used in a way that would kill her. It was a secret that he would keep to himself, he wondered if his master had ever taking a liking to someone and how he may have dealt with it.
Turning the VDU off he got up and made sure his uniform was properly in place. It would not do to look sloppy in front of his team or Risa.

If he dealt with this demon and made sure Risa was fit to be his successor, he would retire to the council and let the front lines be handled by those who were younger and not as jaded as he was to the ways of life.

He felt bad wanting to have an easier life but sometimes it was better to move on and let others pick up the fight.

Putting his cap on he stepped out to head down the hallway, for now he will continue to fully give his life to the empire and in the end, he could only hope that was enough.

What did you think of the chapter so far?

Enjoyed it quite a bit, even though it's making me miss the weekly Dark Heresy campaign I was in on Roll20 that's on hiatus until our GM figures out how/when he can get a new router and modem so we can continue playing.

Thanks I'm glad you like. I'm trying to portray the environment well as well as put in several little plots that will come to fruit further into the story.

Which Chr do you have the most intrest in so far?

Well, Sharue of course. I typically play either the Psyker or the Cogboy/girl. I like playing the classes with the biggest risk/reward element. Although, if my current Tech-fetishist dies to the forces of Chaos, I'll be running a Soldier (Catachan, of course) for the first time in years who's based on Dutch Schaefer, simply so I can make puns in a terrible Arnold accent.

Nice, Sharue is the main chr the story revolves about but I'm trying to bring in as many other chrs and have sub plots that bring in interest to them as well. Sha has to get out of the under dark and off planet here soon.
