Lnyx got his hands on another pony and just ate him, or her whole!
Its not as difficult for him to swallow ponies because hes massive. You see how his belly sticks out? Well think about a pony rolled into a ball fitting that form. Thats the size comparison. Or just think 2 1/2 ponies height.

Hmm, I think I like the new look for the big gryph. Sort of miss the scar, though, it leant him a certain...je ne sais quoi :p

I removed the scar because people have said it made him look "edgy" in the past when he really isnt. Also I felt like it was unnecessary when his head is so busy looking already.
He is that type of bird of prey who probably deserves one from hunting though.

*betrays the ponies' secret!* Ponies actually ADORE griffons. It's why they're one of the non-pony species they don't freak out around. Many secretly harbor the lust to slip down the throat of those mighty predators. They know ancient griffons devoured ponies, and fantasize about returning to those times in part... just without all the blood and ripping and gore and screaming... they don't really want those parts back... unless they're really weird. ;D
