No, Kite isn't really that much of an asshole. Yes, the tone looks so much better if you zoom enough. This is largely anecdotally based as I only completed up to disk three of .hack//, and heard about how they all meet in the fourth.

You see, Elk really does get to have all the fun. Why couldn't he be playable >_<. I've actually wanted to see him eat someone for for a couple of years, even if it was "off camera" I'm glad it finally happend.
