There are cold, mountainous areas on Kira's planet, but she rarely visits them. Because reasons.

Her tail tends to shrink when she's cold, which is why it's so small here. It can be pretty lethal in such a condensed state, but the odds of encountering Kira in a chilly region are slim, and if you did, her tail would be the least of your worries anyway.
